BMA Urged to Settle £4.5M in Overdue Land Lease Fees
digbeth replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
what's that in dollars? -
you no longer qualify but there's also *Section 40* social security, you can enter the scheme at up to 65 years of age, this is for those that never had social security, intended for those with informal work like motorcycle riders there's no medical coverage as you're supposed to use it in conjunction with universal healthcare, this cheme pays out if you have to take time off work/death/disablilties and there's small pension never heard any foreigner that wants to be or sucessfully joined it though

Route recommendations in Sukhumvit area
digbeth replied to StreetCowboy's topic in Cycling in Thailand
you can take your own bike no problem on the ferries, plus you can come back from the other pier if you want to, if you rent a bike on the island you have to return to the same pier you arrived to return the bike -

The one you mention is car ferry, that doesn't quite go to the actual 'green lung' but just outside it the one in Bangna is pier for big boat that has motorcycle riding on and off here https://maps.app.goo.gl/7mdX821tJhmtDkgYA there's this ferry pier you can take bicycles on that's closer to 'Sukhumvit/Klongtoei' https://maps.app.goo.gl/ePUffXr7x2SmNQCd7 -

have you tried the 'green lung' Bang Krachao yet? it's s hop over on ferries from Klong Toei apart from that there's also Saen Saeb Canals that can run parallel to Sukhumvit-Petchburi road - not much to see and the canal's esssentially sewage - smelly but takes you off the road and narrow sois -

What happen to the insurance when selling the car
digbeth replied to CanNot's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
It'd be a mess if the new owner totals itgot killed too and the insurance payout under your name normally the insurance would want the book transferred to them in case of total loss, which you can't if you've already transferred it to the new owner best to cancel the insurance or transfer it -
Can I be added to my wife's national health insurance plan?
digbeth replied to Lestat777's topic in Health and Medicine
a lot of parents usually out in the provinces want their kids to get a government job for this alone, there's also the question of level of covers and what medicine/procedures are available between each scheme, social security with employee (paid) contributions often coming out worse -
they are even trafficking in foreigners from indians to vietnamese to work on their computers and program the online gambling site, often it'll be job in Bangkok with no talk of work permit, then they got shipped to border and disappeared, passport taken

Can I be added to my wife's national health insurance plan?
digbeth replied to Lestat777's topic in Health and Medicine
They cover parents too I think... so if your wife doesn't qualify, pump out some kids, make sure they get low paying government jobs for the healthcare benefits for the whole family and you're set -
Can I be added to my wife's national health insurance plan?
digbeth replied to Lestat777's topic in Health and Medicine
you can't be added to her 'national' insurance if she's on universal scheme or social security, either you qualify to go on the schemes yourself through getting a job or citizenship -

Possible to get to Suvarnabhumi Airport? (Flooding)
digbeth replied to cubism001's topic in Chiang Mai
Flight from Chiangmai is probably safest, trains as it's been demonstrated just recently that they are subject to floods and landslide -
There's usually a premium over MSRP for cash as the dealers makes much more on finance, or they'll often flatout refuses or say there's long queue for the bikes. Though in Pattaya they're used to dealing with foeigners so cash is accepted more, still you'll often never get the same price as on Honda's website. There are direct sellers usually based around big industrial area like around Bangkok that sells direct either online on Shopee for list price or even less- even the cost of them arranging transport to Pattaya won't be more than 2,000 baht - if that might work out to cheaper to gettin from anyone local For Honda - there's not much choice in Pattaya and even surrounding towns are all MItyon Bowin on 331 highway near ll the industrial estate is probably the area to go if you have transport for cheaper deals. MInd you, while the condition from Hona state that the dealer has to accept work, say if you turn up to Mityon and they see your bike is not from them they won't bend over backwards to see you or suddenly their appointment book for service is full, or should you need warranty work done they 'd rather that you deal with the dealer you purchases from.

Oh, I didn't follow much of this news apart from the initial story, after reading up seems the van's dashcam shows the bike was parked in the left lane from the pictures the road looks well lit too there has been cases in the past where Thai celebrity killed someone in an accident and is redeemed by putting the deceased's kids through college and payouts

the motorcycle he hit was stopping to pick up a dropped water bottle in the right lane, on the middle of a bridge, even a sober person driving might not be able to brake or swerve to not hit turning up to funeral and showing remorse, offering compensation to the victim's family is accepted to reduce or commute the sentence the first pictures when the news broke was that he was prostating and crying towards the victim, the remorse seems genuine unlike many rich pricks who'd run away or just wait for insurance/police to turn up

business and first class passengers do get fast track included with their tickets, so there must be a way for legitimate business to buy fast track access for their customers Does AOT ensure that it is givent out correctly? that's up to them to audit the reciepts but i'd be hard if the fast track is the same as over 70/thai nationals queue and there's discretion from the guy at the barricade involved, who knows if you 'tipped' him and he deemed you are over 70s if the main queue are being slowed down, left understaffed on purpose to force people to pay and access the priority lanes then there's public interest to complain about

are you looking through airbnb? if it's obviously foreigner, especially chinese the other residents are right to be hostile about their condos being rented out like hotels like that, a lot of inner-bankgok condos are overrun with airbnbs, thai renters might fly under the radar

They certainly they don't drag the girls to their family homes/wives/parents, short time hotels or on premise rooms

How to transfer DTAC eSIM to new Android phone when abroad?
digbeth replied to farrol's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
i'd be weary of putting hard to replace thai numbers (without access to their shops) on e-sim if I'll not be in Thailand for a while, if the phone goes wrong, physical sims mean you can just eject the sim and put in any phone, but e sim- unless tied to your account like Apple's iPhone, you'll need to access your old phone to do that- hard to do if phone's broken most e-sim transfer like apple's phone require authentication from the old phone, not useful if broken Only True and seem to have clear insruction on being able to move to e-sim via their app or website without need for old phone or visiting their physical stores with Dtac merged with True, hopefully the procedure will be similar
