  1. Also, as DrJack says above, it’s not a “ visa run “ it’s a border hop !! A visa run is when you go to another neighboring country ( Laos/ Cambodia/ Malaysia etc) and apply there at the Thai Embassy for a Tourist Visa. So what you are doing is border hops. And no, with flights , they are not restricted to 2.
  2. While we’re on the subject, what are the best Netflix films lately ?? Thanks.
  3. You may all laugh , but these “ influencers” can earn a fortune!!
  4. Exactly! Gets on my nerves to hear the “ convict at large” spouting in every article. Someone ought to explain the meaning to the authors.
  5. Fast track or not, you still wait over an hour for your baggage. Ridiculous.
  6. He will get stopped by immigration. Certainly detained, it’s 11 years . I hope at least he has a passport or emergency passport. The OP can’t help any more, people getting deported after a few months on overstay are on the news daily.
  7. It’s a sport, not entertainment, but most on here don’t get it. Quite common in Europe and US too. Nothing to do with ones you’ve got in mind readers ! it’s very hard to master , I’ve seen a friend doing it at home, fantastic.
  8. You don’t live in the real world. Many thousands flocking into Europe who speak no English/ French/ etc, have no qualifications and are enticed by other refugees who falsely broadcast free money / housing/ child care /education and benefits . This is the reason those refugees are living hand to mouth under bridges and in infestation rife campsites such as in Calais . There is no housing available , even for the people including nationals !!!! UK for one is much too over populated, chasing rents sky high. It’s not fair to all the younger generation who have studied hard , or learnt a trade, to then not even find an apartment or decent housing to live in !!!!!! This is why the governments must give out international warnings to stop the refugees trying to escape their own countries illegally. It is up to these African nations to care for their folk. Their leaders already receive huge handouts from the western world, they should not be putting that money into their own pockets !!! The world must come together to send a message to these corrupt leaders. Yes, illegal immigrants must be stopped for the good of everyone, and to save thousands from death on those flimsy boats. There should be a new international Police organization dealing with this tragedy.
  9. They do, I’ve seen it myself. Do the travel agencies they have popping up all have licenses? Don’t know. They bought lots of cheap condos in the past 10 years, then rent them out to Russian acquaintances/ tourists. Probably villas too. Then they taxi them about, same system. I’ve been to a Russian owned , seemingly Thai massage , and the girl told me it was a Russian boss. They have restaurants too, look top of Jomtien , Russian market/ food etc and a whole load of condos . They probably have all sorts of professions on hand, plumbers etc. They seem to live cheaply, I moved away, but one condo I was in, the whole ground floor were Russians studios. And they were cooking what smells like cabbage soup all day, horrendous. Loud Russian music at the pool, screaming kids , I moved after a few months. I’ve heard walking street also has Russian girl bars.
  10. All very well, but I doubt any country allows an overstayer much compassion. If they did, flocks of tourists would take advantage.
  11. Wow, that’s awful ! I have a few Thai friends who have no furniture and a gas stove outside. Now I know why.
  12. As it has come on lately , I would go to a dermatologist to make sure it’s not something like eczema. She/he will tell you what cream to buy. Especially having fair skin I hope you are avoiding the sun with help from sunscreen for face ( not body) and hats.
  13. I am absolutely horrified ! What these low life criminals have done to these beautiful animals is unforgivable! I’m not partially shocked by the lack of regulations and regular checks from government officials. Rather typical for here. All people concerned with this should be named and shamed ! I hope it makes world news ! I suppose there are many more of these “torture” cages around Thailand and elsewhere in Asia.
  14. The soldiers had a choice too. It was shoot to kill obviously. Probably shows the inexperience of the Thai army.
  15. These are “mules” , poor mountain folk trying to exist in secluded places where there isn’t much choice. It’s extreme poverty that brings this about the world over, South America, Mexico, Asia. You’ve never traveled to these mountainous areas and seen how they live ? Much better to go after the drug barons and their factories , government cooperation is needed between countries . 2 million pills seized ? Another 20 million will get through. In South America etc the barons have their own helicopters , ships , planes and even submarine for transport . Killing the peasants is inhumane and brings nothing.
  16. I always use them, works perfectly for me.
  17. My partner is of Vietnamese origin.. I had to promise him years ago that if ever I caught him gambling ,I’d do everything to stop it immediately. He never did gamble, but we have friends and colleagues also same origins and they all have the addiction.. Definitely something in the Asian genes.
  18. The motive of the violence seems rather obvious ! I must say that the victim looks like a very young 53 ? Not that it has anything to do with the attack.
  19. So basically, you believe that being on a beach in daytime with a tour guide is dangerous? Or, don’t go walking alone on a quiet beach alone ? Great news for female travelers .
  20. Sad, but unfortunately happens all the time and everywhere. Certainly not the girls fault, on an open beach in daytime , she would think she was safe. Happens too often when you let your guard down.
  21. I really believe that there’s something in the milk, food, in Thailand, ( hormones?) that leads to so many effeminate men and masculine girls. I’ve travelled the world, and never seen so many “ mutations”, I don’t think that’s the correct word but can’t find another. I noticed this when first arriving in Thailand early 80s. My neighbours son looked exactly like a girl, from very young. The girl serving in our local shop looked like a boy. I read a report a long time back on this in Thailand. Of course it doesn’t bother me who is what, but do find it strange that don’t see this so often elsewhere.
  22. Thank you , I agree. That’s over 7000 euros !! Absolutely crazy, I wonder which hospital this was ? One I’d rather not go to.
  23. From what I’ve seen on tv/ articles, child abusers seem to have gone underground with all these dark web sites where you can basically get whatever you want. Yes it’s terrifying as it attracts people who can use the internet so easily nowadays. Personally, I’ve never seen child abuse or heard of it around me in Thailand. Extreme Poverty and lack of education is the main cause in my opinion in Asia and South America . The problem in Thailand is the lack of the friendly copper on the streets that knows the folks and their family problems. So there is no follow up when things go wrong. There should be real childcare centers and associations everywhere.
  24. I don’t think he has a choice to choose who he has to investigate. He was “ ordered” in this case by the Prime Minister Srettha.
