  1. The Filipino accent is highly questionable and Thai people are hardly impressed by the Philippines in general. I think it would work against you to have a degree from there as European.
  2. Trump should have challenged the 14th amendment and retroactively deported people who descended from illegal aliens who broke the law. Any other sane country would do that. Instead he's focused on tariffs which are just as likely to end him as they are to help anyone.
  3. This story makes no sense on its face. He's going to deport a "Micheroni" while there's tens of millions of anchor babies from South America still in the country?
  4. yes there's always the possibility to be white and yet somehow miserable. 😂
  5. Why do you need the online university in PH? If I saw that it would just raise questions. Likely they want to see a gradate from the country their representing and not something so random as this.
  6. Can't you just get a TEFL? Maybe pay is lower than the degree but more attainable probably.
  7. I think most Thais are happy with the state of development. Here's a picture of that 9.9 mil baht thing. This is winning in the Chiang Mai, the rose north and cultural capital of the Lanna kingdom blah blah blah.
  8. Well I'd like to know WHY or this is meaningless. Come to think of it I didn't know you could opt out even if you wanted to or what the state of the program is currently. Don't you think one of the poorest states would want someone else to pay for 90% of their healthcare? It's probably something like "look senator Bob Jones voted against the Save the Children Act clearly indicating his hatred of children" and then you go on to discover the act contained a tax increase used to fund missile production. Seen this enough to know the game being played.
  9. I'm at my wife's townhouse for 3 days during Songkran in Mae Jo. No windows except on the front and back and everyone here closes up everything tight at night so even though it's nice outside it's warm and muggy in the house. All of her neighbors do this too. They have no appreciation for enjoying nice weather and prefer to be locked inside in the AC and with fans. I don't get it.
  10. Do you live there? I took a picture of Pai AQI a few days ago to send it to my brother. Maybe you got to experience this also, probably active forest fires were close by in order to get to these levels.
  11. MS has the biggest black population is the country. The capital city Jackson is 80% black. Look at the Wiki, they are totally <deleted>. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jackson,_Mississippi. Poverty rate is 3x higher for blacks than whites but still lots of poverty in the white population. https://talkpoverty.org/state-year-report/mississippi-2020-report/index.htm How do you invest your way out of that? They've been trying for decades and they're broker than ever. Remember when their pipes failed and they had to import drinking water? https://www.nytimes.com/2023/03/22/us/jackson-mississippi-water-crisis.html After integration in the 60s the white population started to flee to the outer regions of the city and this has been going on for decades now. The black population is not capable of maintaining the existing infrastructure or institutions.
  12. OK just watched 1 minute of cocomelon. This is like catnip for children. I guess people are trying to hypnotize their kids so they can get some peace.
  13. I've seen that before. It's bizarre but your mind assimilates it eventually. Who knows what does that to you.
  14. It makes me sad when I see a family out for dinner and they're all looking at their phones and not talking with their parents. It's probably the same at home too. It was bad enough when I was a kid with TV and computers but this is a whole new level. At lease TV you would watch together but now it's a screen per person and everyone is totally disconnected.
  15. TikTok is just mind melting. My 45 year old wife is looking at the crap all the time and it's just horrible. I can't be in the same room with her unless she wears headphones otherwise it's random noises changing 15 seconds on and on and on. Imagine being a kid and having your brain develop under these conditions. How do you not come away brain damaged I wonder.
  16. If you go through Chiang Dao stop at the cave and enjoy that lovely blue pool at the base of the mountain.
  17. Chiang Mai is fake northern Thailand but the second biggest city in the country with an international airport so it becomes a tourist hotspot for that reason alone. Still it's better than your outlined region which is indeed the armpit of Thailand and should be avoided.
  18. Oh no they ruined Mae Hong Son like they did Pai? I haven't been in a couple years so I don't know. It's actually pretty damn remote and hard to get to with not many services so I think the average tourist wouldn't last long there but maybe it's changed.
  19. The average Farang expat when they get water splashed them.
  20. I've only been in Thailand since 2005 so I have a short memory here. My dad just 10 years earlier in 1995 and remarked on how incredibly slow many motorbikes were riding. I wonder if any old timers here could be confirm that. Seems likely there's been a shift in the culture towards dangerous driving across the board. It's worth keeping in mind too that no matter how bad the traffic stats are it's mostly just stupid people getting themselves killed and doesn't necessarily need to apply to you if you keep left and drive at a safe speed.
  21. Not sure what you're saying here but it sounds like you think Europe is too crazy to be entrusted with nuclear weapon? No way Europe is any crazier than any other country which has nuclear weapons.
  22. I'm pretty sure the average Thai person would rather risk getting killed than regulate their driving or are literally incapable of controlling their behavior. Some people tell me it used to be better though and in fact my wife tells me when she was young motorbikes always drove slowly on the left lane but now they're all over the place and much higher speeds. Thai driving is probably getting worse and more reckless as congestion increases yet still no real law enforcement.
  23. it's just not a sensible policy regardless of money. Do you really want to rely on American troops being there when you need them? Do even trust them in the worst case scenario? None of this seems wise to me.
  24. This is good. Why does Europe wan't to rely on American troops instead of supplying their own defense?
  25. Does anyone else understand what this guy is saying? I can't understand it for the life of me.
