    I'm not suggesting that Thais don't use proper nouns, but they use farang where a name or a proper noun would be perfectly suitable.

    I've seen Union Jack rugs! There's not really much point in worrying too much about it. They have this "Thai Supremacy" beaten into them from a young age and they're simply not aware of what they're doing. It is weird that so many foreingers have internalised it, though.

    As I've already said, my wife and those around me clearly say 'man' and I'll trust them over your video bird. Maybe a local variation but my money's on the pronunciation of those I know. MalcolmB is literally a troll account. There's little point in engaging with him.
