  1. it is called "exhibitionism". my friends literally say "I don't care that Chinese spy on me" and "I don't care that the home security camera sends its video stream to Chinese servers". we could not jugde people for their fetishes.
  2. AIS is dead again, 85% packet loss between AIS Bangkok and Hurricane Electric Singapore ???? I've grepped RIPE database for @ais.co.th and found a few email addresses, will try to contact them.
  3. strangely my answer to this ignorant bullshít was deleted, but the comment itself was not. well, TiT (this is Thaivisa) I will elaborate further to educate other forum users: 1) all phones do not share the same operating systems. not only Android and iOS are very different systems, but even "Android" itself does not mean one single operating system - rather a whole lot of different operating systems built with Android core. Telling that all Androids are same is like telling that all cars are same because they all have a combustion engine inside. 2) the "conspiracy" is a hard reality which you could read about in one of my comments above, there are blog posts where a firmware of several chinese phones was reverse engineered and malicious features were uncovered.
  4. 7% or 17% calculated from the sum of phone cost + freight + insurance https://aseannow.com/topic/1224885-ordering-a-lenovo-thinkpad-4-weeks/?do=findComment&comment=17488840 and the next comment
  5. check this thread https://aseannow.com/topic/1268470-tax-residence-certificate/
  6. lucky patcher is considered "warez" or "piracy" on non-russian websites so if you want to do some piracy yourself (such as - remove advertisements from apps) you will have to use the websites that condone piracy.
  7. there is a software that removes Google ads by either removing Google libraries from an app, or by replacing URLs from Google to non-existant ones, or by other different measures. look for "lucky patcher" on 4pda.ru forum, you might need a google translator.
  8. I personally thought that it would be about 50% drop or maybe even more.
  9. there is no easy way to get rid of the bloatware. some of the ways require enabling developer tools or getting a root access, and these actions will break the compatibility with the bank apps, because they all go bitchy when they see developer tools turned on.
  10. Sweden, Belgium, Iceland, California (if that counts) and we are talking about different things here. Surely authorities know everyone's location by their SIM cards and could steal the private data from everyone's phones by using the hardware backdoors, but still - they are authorities so they are kinda authori-zed to do that. and the chinese manufacturers are NOT authorized to do that.
  11. "spy ware" is just a type of "mal-icious software". with most kinds of malware you will not see the effect.
  12. I don't have any real information and even my Thai accountant doesn't know what to do with the overseas dividends LOL but I've read online that you have to pay 10% on dividends from abroad, and 10% on salary if it is 0-500k THB per year or 20% if 500k-1000k or 30% if it is above 1000k per year. I will be very grateful if you share your experience because I plan to do the same in the next few months. My Thai company accountant suggested to transfer the money to the Thai company bank account instead of a personal bank account, and withdraw money from the Thai company bank account. But it seems overcomplicated to me.
  13. feel the difference (also note 17 elements blocked by uBlock on Lazada and just 1 element blocked on Shopee) -- your browsers simply block the browser exploits coming from Aliexpress servers located in Hangzhou that's why Lazada could not work correctly. I suggest using the obvious alternative. or, if you HAVE TO use the chinese websites infested with malware then you should use a separate browser for Lazada, without any ad-blockers installed and with all security features disabled.

darktable is very good too - a free replacement of Lightroom and also could be used with raw files.

    Buying a camera

the photo stuff is extremely expensive in Thailand. I've purchased a few things in World Camera and Big Camera, never had any problems so could not tell about the after sales service, however I mostly use Ebay now because purchasing brand new equipment from Japan (that was made in Thailand LOL!) with fast shipping by DHL or UPS and paying import taxes is still going to be about 2x times cheaper than buying it offline.
  16. I'm too lazy to start a new thread and copy all messages myself.
  17. both were new, and their declared price corresponded to their real market price. there was nothing about "used" or "second hand" on the customs declaration, only the model name. the whole point of all my messages in this thread is that the import tax/duty in Thailand is absolutely random and depends on the mood of the customs officer inspecting your package. yet I must add that if you ship by the courier service such as DHL, UPS, FedEx, you will have a much higher chance to get taxed (and sometimes even over-taxed) rather than when shipping by the usual postal service or EMS.
  18. yes, the whole point of all my messages in that thread is that the import tax/duty in Thailand is absolutely random and depends on the mood of the customs officer inspecting your package.
  19. an experience of another person:
  20. its not just you, happened to me too, and I confirm that Lazada's search engine sucks hard. I suggest to use Shopee instead.
  21. SQL injections are usually made by the website visitors against the website, not vice-versa. however all browsers store their history and cookies in a SQLite database so theoretically there is a possibility that a malicious website would perform an SQL injection attack against visitors' browsers.
  22. ... enjoy Koh Tao, unfortunately. The "must try" dive sites are Sail Rock and Chumphon Pinnacle only, others are so so. P.S. Sattakut wreck is nice too, if you like wrecks. P.P.S. ask the dive center staff when is a whale shark season, I'd go there when there are frequent sightings of whale sharks.
  23. yea it's a great feature that I've always used back home. but... which Thai bank allows an instant creation of the virtual card?
  24. exactly, my browser is much more secure than the phone, and my computer is much more difficult to steal (or simply lose) than the phone. unfortunately the common public prefers (illusory) comfort over security.
