  1. Western suburbs of Bangkok. Two story house with three air conditioners. April 15 bill: 1910 baht; May 15 bill: 1905 baht. During the winter, I'm usually down to 800 or less, with no a/c usage. In between winter and heat, I may run around 1100 or 1200. Pretty steady year after year, although last year's April and May was cooler and only ran 1500 or so.
  2. RFKjr will demolish the madman and the brain dead one.
  3. Yeah, slow for several days now. I'm in the western suburbs of Bangkok. Hardly ever use the phone because it is so covered with ads and jumping that it makes it unusable. I usually only connect with a laptop.
  4. At least on the part of Hungary, there is this:
  5. China calls these exercises "2024A," implying that there will be "B," "C," or more? And one of them will be the real thing, when the PRC sees its chance.
  6. Thailand may have some problems, but I would sure hate to see it become another Jamaica.
  7. They don't get much aid. The do get trade preferences, Foreign direct investment from the US, and enjoy a huge trade surplus. That latter, especially, could be easily "adjusted" were the US to discover the necessity for lengthy import inspections, quality control stations, and environmental regulations. That's what China does.
  8. For years fake gold bars filled with tungsten have been coming out of China. They've even faked themselves out.
  9. Sounds like a Christopher Moore Vincent Calvino novel.
  10. Not so dramatic. Just close enough to send a chill down your spine. And a passing comment made on an AsianNow topic that should allow people to feel free to make associations about the flight in a conversational manner.
  11. I've had a Panasonic that is still working after 14 years. But downstairs I have a much older heater. I've repaired it once. It only cost 400 baht and that was about four or five years ago. Still going since then. I'd see if there is an easy repair, first. But I repair everything, including fans, light switches, a/c, or pump. I never go new, because new is usually worse.
  12. Quite some time ago, I seem to remember a Taiwanese military statement that in the event of a PRC invasion, Three Gorges would certainly be in play.
  13. Expensive. Soooo expensive! You not come, here. Okay?
  14. True, for probably an increasing number. Just hope they don't come here. Stay in their same time zone.
  15. Srettha managed to get a news story where Thailand ("Thai") and G7 were in the same sentence. Success!
  16. Maybe it's just the increase in news about this topic, but it seems to me that post-Covid people are meaner and more violent. That's the way they are at home, and they bring it with them when they go on vacation to foreign countries.
  17. What "service" are they providing to the embassy?
  18. Carry lots of 20s for the taxis.
  19. What does 430 baht get you in Switzerland? The pieces of this story indecipherable.
  20. How does Italy's role in the G7 affect visa waivers for Schengen (just three out of the seven G7 members)?
