Seasoning of Funds
DrJack54 replied to Confuscious's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Was in middle of reply to explain exactly what the implications are of dropping below 400k and how immigration would know. Trashed that reply due to your snide replies to forum. -
Seasoning of Funds
DrJack54 replied to Confuscious's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
That's a very rude reply. You stated ..... "This amount needs to be seasoned at the bank 3 moths PRIOR to the extension and 2 months AFTER the extension." That is clearly incorrect and the poster was helpful in pointing out your error. As I have done along with others -

It's only for the first extension that sets the clock.... "The first application for extension of stay by the foreigner is equivalent to the notification of staying in the Kingdom over 90 days." After the first extension 90 day reporting has nothing to do with extensions. As usual some immigration offices play their own game and do a TM47 when you apply for extension. My understanding is Jomitien does not and certainly CW does not. -

Not sure which immigration has that rule, however it's 800k for 2 months prior to extension and maintained for 3 months after and not below 400k in the other months. That is ongoing. Does not change. -

Other way round Nothing until your next extension is due and you would not be able to obtain extension. Immigration checks retrospectively 12 months to see if financial requirements have been met. 90 day reports has nothing to do with financials Also be aware if you have business at immigration eg need to transfer stamps immigration can request photocopies of bank book pages. Happened to me recently at CW -
Yes you have expressed your opinion. Countless threads on Jomitien in particular. Just one cut/paste of MANY.... @BigStar replied "True. I ignored when they gave me notice, no problem, as it's not a regulation. They make no record of whether you submitted it or not. The bank book shows whether you had the funds or not"

Residence certificate with Tourist Visa?
DrJack54 replied to berro's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
The OP is on tourist visa. Assume you have extensions from a visa? -
Residence certificate with Tourist Visa?
DrJack54 replied to berro's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
The actual COR that you receive does not state what it's for. eg TDL. Just tick eg TDL on the application and present COR to bank to assist with opening bank account. -

Was not aware of the change. When did that occur. -
Extension longer than visa validity.
DrJack54 replied to Guitar God's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
From OP... "I have a one year Thai spouse visa.." It's a multiple entry visa so would not be based on Thai child. -
Extension longer than visa validity.
DrJack54 replied to Guitar God's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
OP, Your multi entry non O based on marriage is a visa valid for one year. Any entry prior to expiry you will receive a 90 day stamp. If you exit and reenter prior to Oct 15 you will receive another 90 day stamp. So actually a ME Non O gives almost 15 months. In addition you can obtain a 60 day extension "to visit wife" No idea why you want a "retirement visa". If married you can move to annual extensions based on marriage. All that requires is 400k in Thai bank account in your name only for 2 months prior to application for extension. Not much advantage in obtaining another multi entry non O marriage from Savannakhet. -
Wise removes Long Stay Reason on Transfers
DrJack54 replied to bastco's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Interesting. I transfer using WISE. I do not maintain funds with WISE. When WISE app asks for transfer I tick "already sent" Then go to my online Oz banking app and pay WISE. After doing a few reference # is not required. You are in their system. My transfers using WISE take minutes. When I have sent LARGE amounts for property purchase it is still done same day provided transfer was AM -

That's good to know. I'm currently doing monthly transfers to Kasikorn account using WISE All my transfers are coded TRN. I was hoping that a 12 month bank statement will show international transfers -

I use Kasikorn which is one of the 3 you mention. Despite selecting "funds for long stay..." I do not always have code for international transfer. Necessary to obtain credit advice -
This topic has been discussed numerous times. The "slip" with return date is given out randomly. On return nothing is recorded. There has never been a report of issue with not returning. From the OP who just obtained extension...... "It appears that this 2nd visit is now no longer required." From 3rd post...... " I just did mine in Jomtien and they didn’t give me a form or ask me to come back in 3 months to show proof of money. To be honest I never did when they gave me the form and never had any issues"

No. There are condo complex's that have a foreign ownership quota. Many foreigner's own their own condo. -
Extension of stay question
DrJack54 replied to Felton Jarvis's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
OP, as others have pointed out can do extension up till date of expiry of current permission of stay. Note: You do not lose days by applying early. The 12 month extension starts from expiry not from date you apply. It's foolish to leave it till last minute. Some offices allow application 45 days prior to expiry and some up to 30 days prior
