O/A-based renewal at Surin
DrJack54 replied to mfd101's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Find your thread strange. First up only your first extension from a non O retirement starts your 90 day report count. After that that the 90 day report has nothing to do with annual extensions. Regards your extensions from a Non O-A, almost everyone has ditched that and moved to a Non O retirement or if married to Thai changed based on retirement to based on marriage as both those options avoid silly insurance requirements. Weird thread. -
Variations to your question have come up since the introduction of e-visa. One recent thread a guys tourist e-Visa (UK) was not approved in time and arrived in Thailand visa exempt. Subsequently he received his approved e-Visa. Was then asking if he could do a border bounce and enter with his e-Visa or alternatively fly out of Thailand eg to Vietnam and return with e-Visa. Some folk actively looking to exploit this poorly introduced "e-Visa" One example ....obtain your e-Visa and knowingly enter Thailand without producing it on arrival and be given 30 day stamp. Then use it later.

That would be my post. I explained the options to cover onward flight requirements. Buy a throw away flight. Use site such as "onwardticket.com" Have a return flight outside of 30 days however explaining intention to obtain 30 day extension. Ask for supervisor and sign a waiver. All of which have been reported with success in recent times. I have never read a report of airline refusing the "rent a flight" option. To the contrary recent reports of no issue. Even if there was ...step away and book throw away. eg Bangkok to Saigon 1500 baht. Takes one minute. Post a refused entry when using options I outlined. Just Scaremongering Some confused emoji from some folk unfamiliar with options.

Depending on which country you could obtain a ME Non O based on marriage. That visa provides for stay of 12+ months and each entry gives a 90 day stamp. You could obtain a non O based on marriage and subsequent 12 month extension. There are also other options. Personally would not bring daughter into it as carer with other options available Many threads cover this

If refused boarding pass at departure he could have stepped away from counter and booked a "rent a ticket" . Popular site is "onwardticket.com" Takes a minute. $12usd. However most likely not required as he has return ticket at 37days. Many reports of airline accepting explanation of intention to obtain 30 day extension especially with return flight to show.

You should have posted prior to buying onward flight. In any event your best option would have been to fly to Thailand visa exempt for 30 day entry stamp and prior to expiry obtain 30 day extension. Simple process at immigration office. 1900baht. If you decide to go to Laos and return via land border you would receive 30 day stamp. Unless you have desire to visit Laos then the option you outline is crazy

Chaeng Wattana counters
DrJack54 replied to oldestswinger's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Good report. Another option is for OP to wait till his next extension and make an appointment for the extension and the io can do transfer and then process the extension application. Recently I required a certificate of residence and there is no appointment for that. However I made appointment for 90 day report and the io processed the TM47 photocopied it and then processed the COR. Very helpful service. -

The extension counters can do the stamp transfer of stamps. L32 and others in that area. Thinking appointment can be made here. https://www.immigration.go.th/?page_id=20131 -
Passport moisture issue?
DrJack54 replied to lordgrinz's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
No problem. Scrutiny of passports is more significant at various airports. For 90 day reports should not be an issue. Not using online option? -
criminal records clearance certificate
DrJack54 replied to spread198's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
OP, seems that you are applying for a Non O-A visa? Applying in the UK. That visa requires insurance. You could consider a Multi entry Non O based on retirement. That visa is also valid for 12 months. -
Multiple Entry Non-Os for Retirement
DrJack54 replied to CWA14's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Not clear what you are asking. Some countries ie UK have now moved to e-Visa for Thailand visa application. Some countries ie Australia do not provide e-Visa option. Some countries nearby Thailand eg Laos, Vietnam Cambodia etc etc you apply for visa at Thai consulate. -
retirement extension renewal possible ?
DrJack54 replied to Barry864's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
From the OP..... "I am renting a condo in Jomtien for more than 1.5 years" You missed the 1point5 years. RENTING. Got it! -
retirement extension renewal possible ?
DrJack54 replied to Barry864's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Read the thread I posted link to where in two different immigration offices refused "conversion" from visa exempt to non O using TM87 was refused. One would assume that the OP will deal with Jomtien. Maybe yes perhaps no. For others reading threads the fact that there are couple of reports placing cloud over conversion from visa exempt entries is significant. Find your posts tedious. Now on ignore. -
Thai "Education visa" for American/Thai boys
DrJack54 replied to Phuyai's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
OP, just another idea for consideration.... So the children enter visa exempt on USA pp. That 30 day stamp can be extended by 30 days if required. During this time she can obtain for them a Thai ID and subsequent Thai passports. BTW: my Thai partner just recently obtained new pp. Turn around was 2days. Granted with the Thai ID etc for the children will be much longer but possible. There is a recent thread with similar suggestion. She might then need to do a border bounce to close off the entry/exit on their USA pp. Yes messy however this paves wave for living in Thailand as Thai citizens. Their USA pp are intact and can return to that country at any time.
