Bank Requirements for Non-O Based on Marriage
DrJack54 replied to EdwardM's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Your plan is fine. Obtaining a non O marriage in Bangkok requires the 400k in bank account on day of application. The added issue is that you require 15 days remaining on your permission of stay. Keep in mind you have 2 avenues to obtain more time. One is 30 day extension to your tourist visa and the other is 60 day extension to visit wife. Some advice in thread is that you can open account with assistance from wife. My recommendation is to use agent to facilitate this as it takes very little time. Approx cost 5k -

To obtain the non O marriage you will require a Thai bank account with deposit of 400k. In other words you require the account prior to obtaining the non O Do you have a Thai bank account? -

Haven't read your previous posts. So you don't have a Thai bank account currently. How are you in Thailand. Meaning visa exempt, tourist visa, ? -

No. Open account anywhere in Bangkok and CW branch will provide you with "bank letter" 100 baht. -
Yes. To use income method he would need to show 12 month of transfers, so yes he could start that one year prior to applying for the non O. Depends if his country provides embassy letter.. The 12 months transfers required if they do not.
-
Don't understand. Can't see any point in having funds in account early as for non O the 800k only needs to be in account on day of application. Also needs to show the funds came from abroad and that would be simple with a transfer just prior to non O application.

Just a shout out to anyone planning trip to Koh Samed. My partner just returned for week at Samed. All good. Then just now some friends sent us videos of destruction at white sand beach area. I have never seen anything like it and have been staying there many years. The water from hills behind beach have sent deluge washing away sections of beach and dining area on beach. Will take bit of time to recover.

I know what is required in Bangkok currently. The yesteryear things you suggest won't work currently. So stick to current experience and outline the process in Bangkok or leave it. -
Updated TM 30 information

If you have a lease CW may except that and "overlook" the TM30. My first ever extension CW accepted my one year lease. Have never done a TM30. Most likely best to follow uj advice and try and obtain those basic items and do it yourself. Its a pity that your landlord and their agent has been uncooperative. My partner has few rentals and currently one is rented by farang. The agent attends to to TM30 for that guy as should be the case. Your situation comes up often and just a shout out to folk to always check if your landlord will do a TM30. -

What type of extension are you applying for? Sounds like you just changed address and moved into your current condo? -

Can't ever recall the final stamp being refused due to deposit going below 400k when return for final stamp. Read reports where the person has been warned due to not maintaining the 400k. Point is why bother. Someone must be on an extremely tight budget if they absolutely need to use the funds. -

Outline the process for the OP to open a bank account in Bangkok. He presumably is on tourist visa or visa exempt planning to obtain a non O. -

After application with money kept in bank for 2 months you are given an under consideration period. You should keep the money in the account until you receive your final stamp. So approx 3 months all up -

OP, is located in Bangkok. In recent times you require a residence certificate to open bank account. He cannot obtain a residence certificate at CW unless he is doing 90 day reports there. Regarding banks. With recent changes to some banking rules in Thailand WISE can only transfer funds greater than 50k to 3 banks. Bangkok Bank , Kasikorn and SCB. SCB does not have branch at CW. The OP imo best to pic one of the first 2 banks. -
In some situations an agent can be useful. Not in the case of the OP. He has very simple option and can do without agent. What option do you imagine an agent can provide.

Which is sound endorsement of OP,s plan. Easy peasy.

How do border runs work exactly?
DrJack54 replied to dj230's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I'm the last person to advise on border bounce from the south province with Myanmar closed. I like Udon Thani as I enjoy the farang bars there and Nong Khai is good border bounce...so flight to Udon and minivan an option if flight cheap enough. -
Border run option Air or Land
DrJack54 replied to HandsomeTallFarang's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
That's straight up incorrect. A border bounce and reenter visa exempt would suit many perfectly. Especially when from Oct 1 visa exempt increases to 45 days. Extendable by 30 at immigration. -
Border run option Air or Land
DrJack54 replied to HandsomeTallFarang's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
No. You have missed the point. Visa exempt entries via land not an issue You don't need to stay overnight. You don't need to qualify. The issue is no land borders close to HH. Kanchanaburi would be option but it's closed. -
No issue at all

Yes. Easy.
