Using agent to renew child / parent visa
DrJack54 replied to Kenny202's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Only replying to assist anyone who read your post. Insurance is not required for extensions based on marriage (even extensions from a non O-A) Insurance is not required for extensions from a non O based on retirement or marriage. As for agents, it's irrelevant how much the financial requirements are. As for agent assisted extensions the vast majority would use the retirement option. In fact many would not even do extensions based on marriage. Anyway the good news is that you are now aware of 60 day extension to visit family. -
Using agent to renew child / parent visa

Perhaps they have the funds available to meet the requirements. In any event you clearly are aware of your options. Especially in regards to agents and 60 day extension to visit family.. -
Using agent to renew child / parent visa

If you are over 50 an agent would want to do extension based on retirement. As you mentioned in one of your posts you don't want to jeopardize the extensions based on child. To gain more time you could apply for 60 day extension to visit child. Hopefully the super would become available by then. -
How many extensions of stay allowed?
DrJack54 replied to oldestswinger's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
The plan you outline is fine. I'm not up to date with STV. (Special Tourist Visa) I assume that you checked out METV. That gives you up to almost 9 months. You must have your reasons for brief trip to Thailand over New Years. That "few weeks" could be done visa exempt.. -
How many extensions of stay allowed?
DrJack54 replied to oldestswinger's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Some consulates/embassies can and do have a limit. Phnom Penh was only issuing 2 consecutive tourist visas prior to covid. Some folk on applying for a 3rd received their passport back with the full page sticker and red void stamp. BTW ,,,Tourist Visa gives you 60 day stamp and can be extended by 30.... So yes can stay 90 days (with extention) -
CW will insist on you having done a 90 day report at that office in order to apply for a residence certificate. This is not the case at most other immigration offices. Alternative is to obtain letter from your embassy. (if they provide that service) That will be accepted for opening bank account and TDL.

How many extensions of stay allowed?

His first extension would be 30 days. After that he has options to border bounce for visa exempt entries 2 times per calendar year. Each entry can be extended by 30 days . He can also obtain tourist visa from nearby eg Vientiane and obtain. 30 day extension. -
Transfer extension stamp to new passport
DrJack54 replied to SebBkk's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I'm finding this strange. Prior to your post I put it down to misunderstanding. That those with just transferring last entry stamp could do this at airport as they exit ... whereas those with extensions (eg annual extensions retirement or marriage) would need to do this at immigration office where extension was issued. So begs the question why are there not lot more reports of having it done at departure from airports.. -
Re-entry permit at Suvarnabhumi
DrJack54 replied to RafPinto's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I prefer to do it myself. Download TM8. Also some basic photocopies of pp. Requires photo. OR If you have them do it you basically just pay the 200 service fee. You provide nothing. -

Appoint non O renewal

Haven't made one for ages. Check your spam folder. Hopefully someone will be along that has done one recently. Edit: BTW take hard copy of your confirmation to appointment. -

Don't beat yourself up. Your fall back plan b is to obtain a non O retirement at consulate outside of Thailand eg Vientiane, Saigon etc. The proof funds came from abroad not required non O retirement and not for extensions. Alternatively talk with your immigration office about banking history. However don't think you will get much joy. You did bring in 500k cash.
