True. One thing is for sure is that the time spent out of Thailand helps. Always surprises me that in the above example of a visa run to Hanoi or wherever and folk want/need to do it in short as time possible. Even those that have spent extended time in Thailand. If it was not for the visa exempt entry currently giving 45 days, I would have suggested doing the visa run to Hanoi first. The border bounces are not an issue unike refused entry at an airport and they are the safe bet. There have been reports pre covid of refused entry via air visa exempt and even couple having a tourist visa, however they were extreme examples of quick return.

Consider extension based on retirement from a non O-A and from a non O. Both are the same apart from the fact that the extension from the non O-A requires insurance. The only way to obtain extensions based on retirement without the insurance requirement is to kill off the non O-A. Don't be confused with the expiry date of the visa. The requirements for the extension is based on what visa you have in pp. A non O-A or non O.

You state... ." I know this sounds like nit picking but it's this level of detail that many people don't understand, that causes the confusion." Visas cannot be extended. The permission of stay can be extended by 12 months ongoing. The record that his original visa is a non O-A determines the requirements for his ongoing extensions. In the above examples posted earlier the suggestion of someone married can change the bases of the extension from retirement to marriage does indeed get around the requirement for insurance. If the same guy is to get divorced and returned to extention based on retirement he will need to obtain insurance as per the requirements of extension from a non O-A.

He won't be doing that as it's not possible. The only way he could switch to a non O is to exit Thailand and with no reentry permit kill off his non O-A. Reenter visa exempt and apply for non O retirement or obtain a non O at nearby consulate. Any agent suggesting that can achieve that process inside Thailand is a fraud and should be avoided at all costs. BTW if someone is married they can obtain extensions based on marriage and not retirement. That would not require insurance and no need to get rid of the non O-A.

How to apply divorcee permit/visa?
DrJack54 replied to topswijaya's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
On date of divorce you would need to change reason for extension from based on marriage to based on Thai child.. Obviously you require all the supporting documents. Another option is to exit Thailand and reenter visa exempt and obtain the non O in Thailand. OR exit Thailand and obtain the non O at eg Savannakhet. Mention those two options in case the first is not possible time wise. -
Obviously the more time spent in Hanoi the better.. Depends on your longer term plans regards how long you wish to stay in Thailand. As you are aware it's 2 visa exempt per calendar year via land. You could do a border bounce now while it's 45 days and "save" the setv for later. Then at some point fly to Hanoi and obtain the tourist visa. Obviously less hassle entering via air with a visa.

Unless you plan to wait till your next extension to transfer stamps etc then you could wait till your next 90 day report is due and attend CW. If you try the online report 15 days prior to report due with new pp #. If it's approved then fine. If not still have time to attend in person. Think the extension desks do the stamp transfer and after that go to 90 report desk for file tm47. I would not use the old pp detail to file a 90 day report online. Yes update details with bank prior to applying for your next extension. Some folk even update details on TDL. Many do not.

Overstay stamp in passport
DrJack54 replied to London Lowf's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
"There could become a time...." Oh dear the soothsayers came out early in 2023. -
You will be fine. Previously when I used mail option for 90 reports prior to improved online system .... I used 2 B4 size envelopes One for lodgement and the other for return. Using larger than necessary return envelope CW returns all my photocopies etc. You might like to try online new option. Works a treat.

OP, I'm sure you are aware that a tourist visa is also an option at HCMC and return flights cheap. They require an appointment. Just another option. Being UK you are visa exempt 15 days for Vietnam. Also did you consider just a border bounce to Laos. Visa exempt entry will give you 45 day stamp that can be extended by 30 days. Dont follow the tv option for land border.

Yes you can. However no moaning if extension not granted due to missing doc or spurious request. -
Marriage extension - when to renew
DrJack54 replied to youngster30uk's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Some offices up to 30 days prior to expiry. Others 45 days prior -
That should be plenty for proof of address. Seems now CW is asking to see last 90 day report and you have that and also note a TM30 in pp. That should cover it. Just the usual photocopies from your pp eg identity age last extension stamp and last entry stamp. I always provide my original non O stamp or if you have a renewal pp the info for that visa is in first page in current pp. Obviously all the banking side of things. Seems that you are providing photocopies of bankbook pages for last 12 months and not bank statements. Not sure what Buriram insist upon. Seems many offices are now insisting on 12 months of bank statements.

Visa exempt to Non O Retirement dates
DrJack54 replied to GregBow's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Seems you entered visa exempt. With a visa exempt exempt entry you use a TM87 form visa application form instead of a TM86 change of visa status form.
