You have gone off on tangent talking about Jomtien (and couple of others) requiring report back at 3 months. Irrelevant. Read your words above. NO ..you cannot "spend it all down". The rules are simple. Maintained at 800k+ for 3 months after extension granted and back up to 800k+ TWO months prior to next application and not less than 400k in-between those 2 periods. What don't you understand. Is it checked by immigration! Absolutely!!

What you and the other guy are referring to is Bank Letter that shows you as the owner of the account and balance in the account at time letter is requested. Completely separate is annual bank statements that show all transactions for the year. Suggest the letter 100baht and statement 200baht. Not all immigration offices require bank statements using money in bank method. At CW (for example) just photocopies of bankbook pages is acceptable. The one rider on that is when folk use bank account for immigration purposes and also day to day banking. I'm that instance the transactions may be consolidated and hence bank statement required. Strongly suggest a dedicated bank account for immigration is best option.

Visa exempt rules arriving by air
DrJack54 replied to Jaggg88's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
There is no limit on his visa exempt entries via air. His pattern of visits, meaning weekends (short stay) should not raise any concerns with immigration. Wouldn't hurt for him to have his work permit with him. -
If after Oct 1 could enter Thailand visa exempt. 45 days. Obtain 30 day extension, then do a border bounce for another visa exempt entry. All up 4 months. Could obtain a 30 day extension to the second visa exempt entry if he wanted 5 months.

Bank Requirements for Non-O Based on Marriage

Won't hurt as it's a common extension obtained by married folk. First hand recent experience always a good thing. Include your immigration office in new thread. -
Bank Requirements for Non-O Based on Marriage
DrJack54 replied to EdwardM's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Your plan is fine. Also to apply for the non O you need 15+ days remaining on your current permission of stay so the 60 day extension to visit wife can provide extra time to organize things. The extension cost is 1900baht. Aside: the way you type about non O and the 12 month extension....be aware the 12 month extension is separate application and no doubt you are aware of the financial requirements 2 months seasoning plus under consideration period. After that you can use that money. Re your wife and plan to go to USA be aware that of course you can apply for a 12 month extension every year. It's an ongoing process that expats living here do every year. -
He obtained under consideration ~ Aug 14 and asked to return for stamp Sept 14. His final stamp will take him till ~ October 14. BTW OP, the reason you "lost" the week you refer to by going week prior to expiry of your previous permit is that it was your first CE and many offices were starting the 60 from date of application for the first CE.

90 day report timeframe question
DrJack54 replied to keysersoze276's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Correct ...so it would add one extra report per year. Given that it's such a painless task with the new online system and auto fill apart from the first 2 entries... Personally I like to do it as soon as I receive the reminder. To each there own.. -

90 day report timeframe question

Mine is 25 also and I did the report straight away (Sat) The application is "pending" -
OP, the 30 days (45 from Oct 1) visa exempt entry will give you enough time to obtain your Non O visa. That visa gives you a 90 day stamp and you can obtain your 12 month extension after money seasoned for 2 months. Be aware that to obtain the non O you require 15+ days remaining on your permission of stay so you need to apply asap after you Arive.
