Updated TM 30 information
DrJack54 replied to eastcst84's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Many hotels, condos etc do file a TM30 registration. A screenshot grab of that will satisfy immigration for extensions etc -
Extension of the 45 days on arrival?
DrJack54 replied to coralia's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I didn't base earlier post re insurance on that website. In another forum there were couple of posts from folk visiting Vietnam and there was no mention of insurance. -

Extension of the 45 days on arrival?
DrJack54 replied to coralia's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Yes misread. Ta. That's good news as group of friends coming from Oz to HCMC and I was under the understanding that insurance etc was not required. @coralia No insurance required. -
Any updates on current entry requirements to Vietnam appreciated. Would be entering with eVisa 30 days. Currently the multi 3 month visa not available. In particular information regarding any insurance requirements and proof of vaccination etc. TIA.

Extension of the 45 days on arrival?
DrJack54 replied to coralia's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Link above from uj indicates insurance required. I will start thread in "visas to other countries" as I would also appreciate recent first hand experience. Organizing trip for group from Oz to HCMC and plan to also meet them there. Hence all details re insurance and any vax certificate etc would be useful. -
Extension of the 45 days on arrival?
DrJack54 replied to coralia's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
News to me that Vietnam requires travel insurance. Must check that out.. -
As already explained...you will need to exit Thailand and reenter to extend your stay. Luckily visa exempt entry is currently 45 days till March 31. Exit in December you have time for two visa exempt entries via land. Each one you can obtain 30 day extension. So you can easily stay extra 4 months up. Where are you located in Thailand?
-
I agree.. The onward flight flight thing (for airline) is a joke. Even more so when your passport stamps show that you live in Thailand. Also any onward flight does not assist the airline you fly with to enter Thailand. If refused entry on arrival by Thai immigration, the onward flight is irrelevant.
-
You will all most certainly require onward flight with AirAsia. You can purchase throw away ticket approx 1500b Or purchase "rent a ticket" from companies such as "onward flight.com" . Note that the living in Thailand owning this and that has nothing to do with onward flight requirement from Airline for visa exempt entry.

Extension of the 45 days on arrival?

Cambodia is fine. And yes it's safe. Can't compare the two. Yes you can obtain second visa exempt entry no problem . Lot of folk love Phnom Penh. Personally prefer Saigon. Flights to PP and Saigon often very similar. Siem Reap is a must do for many travellers. -
Extension of the 45 days on arrival?
DrJack54 replied to coralia's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
The onward flight I mention is a flight out of Thailand within the 45 days. Any destination is ok. If required it would be the airline at departure first leg. Onward flight will not be asked for by immigration upon arrival in Thailand. Screenshot is fine however why not print out hard copy. TM7 is form for extension. Every entry into Thailand with a tourist visa or visa exempt can be extended by 30 days. Visa exempt entry after March 31 will provide 30 day stamp and an extension can be obtained. You are permitted 2 visa exempt entries via land per calendar year. The trip to Cambodia is via air and not included in the 2 limit (via land) mentioned earlier. -
Tourist Visa Exemption Scheme Help Request
DrJack54 replied to tomdfc's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Everything you outline is correct. You can enter visa exempt via air 45 days. Yes you could fly to Vietnam stay awhile and reenter again visa exempt again for another 45 day stamp. Be aware that each entry visa exempt can obtain 30 day extension. 1900baht. Also be aware that you can also do border bounce from CM exit reenter to obtain the visa exempt entry -
Non Immigrant 'O' based on Retirement.
DrJack54 replied to DoctorB's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You did not deal with my question. "When did you last open a bank account in Bangkok ". It was a rhetorical question as what you suggest it will be adequate to open account in Bangkok is false. They will (in Bangkok) require a residence certificate and that's not possible without a 90 day report. It is possible that embassy may provide a letter which is sufficient for bank.. In many cases the person trying to open bank account is wishing to obtain a non O where time is of the essence. This very thread is about obtaining a non O. -

When did you last open a bank account in Bangkok on a visa exempt or tourist visa. Being a snappy dresser won't cut it. -
Changing Banks between Non-O and Extension
DrJack54 replied to Barley's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Most likely overkill but I don't trust immigration offices when it comes to logic. I would do nothing untill 3 months plus after you obtain next extension. Then transfer 400k to a new bank account. Then shortly later transfer the remaining 400k into the new account. That's if you just park 800k all year round or use the 400k as you wish and build up the new account to 800k two months prior to next extension. -
Bit off topic however thought would share this pic to show building issues can occur anywhere. The pictures (actually one is a zoom) shows a recently built condo complex central Bangkok. Since then some inventive neighbours have played "let's build some trees houses with left over junk. How would you feel if you had purchased one of the condo rooms opposite the junk pile.

All the speed boats go to main pier. Just came back from Koh Samed and entrance is 200baht non Thai. Speed boat service we used has a 300baht return deal but you book online latest one day prior.

Opening a Bank Account with Tourist Visa

Fine but lease will not be sufficient to obtain a residence certificate in Bangkok from immigration office.. They will require a 90 day report. -

Opening a Bank Account with Tourist Visa
DrJack54 replied to ChrisKC's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
The OP was asking about Bangkok. You are correct about residence certificate or letter from embassy. The residence certificate would not be possible from visa exempt and tourist visa as CW require a 90 day report. Some embassies do not provide letter. Oz embassy being one example. The best option is use of agent. Has quick turn around. Cost 3-3.5k. They will use Bangkok Bank (most likely) Once you have the bank account there is no need for agent to obtain non O and extention (if that is the intention). -
Using a new agent for renewing retirement visa
DrJack54 replied to DomD's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Bank Letter is supplied by the bank. It basically confirms you are the owner of the account and also states balance on day it is provided. Some offices prefer if it's obtained on day of application. In reality it should be accepted up to 7 days prior to application. Cost 100baht. -

90-Day Reporting Start Date
DrJack54 replied to EdwardM's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Report due within 90 days after entry. Want to figure out the date that is exactly ninety days from Aug 5, 2022 without counting? Your starting date is August 5, 2022 so that means that 90 days later would be November 3, 2022. Can report 7 days late in person. Do it now.
