  1. I don't understand how 'date of exit' comes into it. Whatever means of entry be that from visa exempt entry to reentry permit with an until date or visa be that tourist or non O etc you are stamped into Thailand with a permission of stay stamp. That determines your period of required insurance. When you exit is irrelevant.
  2. There was a post where someone was able to do that. Think came into Phuket sandbox. My guess it was an oversight. If you have a reentry permit or visa you will be issued a "admitted untill" date. That's the period you need to have insurance for. Having a flight out does not alter that for obvious reasons. Indeed I'm in similar situation. Just renewed my annual extension this week. Would like to visit Oz early next year and return with reentry permit. I will need insurance for approx 10 months. Crazy IMO.
  3. 25 pages since start Monday. Running smoothe as silk. Not. Why would anyone come to Thailand.
  4. You can obtain a reentry permit at airport. The office is after security check and prior to passport control. Zone 2. You require insurance for the period that you will be stamped in for. In your case that's a very short period. Personally I would obtain single reentry permit 1000baht. Along with required insurance. Of course have your financial requirements in place to obtain your next 12 month extension shortly after you return.
  5. OP, Correct your insurance needs cover time that you will be stamped in for. In your case 9 months
  6. If he transfers 400k into bank he would not need 30 day extension or the 60 to visit wife extension. He could apply for the non O straight away. That gives him 90 days which is enough to season money and obtain his 12 month extension.
  7. You could enter visa exempt and obtain 30 day extension. You can also apply for 60 day extension to visit wife. You have options available to provide time to organize your funds. The non O will provide a 90 day stamp during which time you can season the 400k for the required 2 months for your 12 month extension.
  8. Best to enter visa exempt. You have options after that to gain time (if needed) to obtain your non O.
  9. What's your plan after you return. Are you intending to obtain a new non O based on marriage?
  10. It's not easy. Previously was less difficult. If reason to obtain bank account is to obtain non O then I suggest an agent. Quick and painless.
  11. Read @Salerno advice above. Good option for you. As you have a Thai bank account will be very easy for you to use money in the bank method (retirement). As for travels of Thailand and back you can buy a reentry permit. 3800baht multiple entry. Available at airport upon departure or at immigration.
  12. You wouldn't even need a tourist visa given that you have money in Thai bank in your name. You could enter visa exempt and obtain a non O based on retirement. The 800k needs to be in the bank on the day you apply. That gives you a 90 day stamp. In the last 30 days of that period obtain a 12 month extension. Simple process. I have posted extension report today of that simple process in this forum.
  13. You can do what you have outlined. Obtain bank statement previous day to applying for extension.
  14. Attended CW Tues 2nd for 12 month extension to non O based on retirement. Everyone has their own plan. I arrived 11.30am prior to 12pm closure for lunch in order to obtain que #. L92. (at lunch break they were at L74 Then went downstairs to bank for letter. I make deposit and ask lady to photocopy that last page showing activity (deposit) Lunch break....back in 1pm. Finished out the door 2.30pm. I provided: 1. Bank letter and photocopies bankbook pages. 2. Photocopies of required pages from passport and TM6 (well covered in many threads. 3. Map of my condo location (not hand drawn) 4. Copy first page of lease. (not looked at and I doubt if was required). NOT required: 1. I did not provide a TM30. 2. I had original of my last 90 report and she started typing info from it into computer as it was 3 days past due date. I pointed out that I had posted (mail) for current 90 report already. She stopped and pushed the report receipt back to me. 90 report not required. Only photocopies of bank pages required not statements. Note only one set of copies provided. Absolute walk in the park. As usual imm officer pleasant.
  15. The letter you refer to might be certificate of residence. At MTT that can take up to 2 weeks. Yes places such as Siam Legal can assist with bank account.
  16. Think I posted earlier. Use an agent to open bank account.
  17. Did you miss OP first words....... "I'm under 50." BTW using and agent for non O retirement and extension has nothing to do with living in Pattaya. Even agents in Pattaya use up country immigration.
  18. The OP stated......"......reasons for delaying a transfer of funds". Delaying the funds implies that it might be option in the future. A non O-A would lock him into useless insurance ongoing for all extensions. In fact many folk with extensions to non O-A are planning to kill off their non O-A and obtain non O in the future. Non O-A still good option for those folk spending time in Thailand and also other countries. As we know can obtain 2 years out of a non O-A (the first yr includes multi entry) and big bonus for some is that your dosh remains in home country or in investments.
  19. Use an agent for the non O and 12 month extension. No funds in bank required. Cost ~ 25k
  20. Yes more of a Rant than anything else. There are easy options if you replace statements such as ...."I don't want to move money immediately......" I'm off to CW in next couple of hours for my annual extension based on retirement using money in the bank method. I keep 800k in Thai bank all year round. Absolute walk in the park. BTW zero insurance. An agent is an option if the money in bank all too difficult. The io are not my "overlords"...I find them pleasant and helpful over many years. Non O-A (IMO) no longer a rosy option. You can easily come to Thailand visa exempt then obtain non O. 12 month extensions are simple. You also have the option of income method. You may even be from country that provides embassy letter for income method. If your finding this all too hard than that's your issue.
