  1. Yes. Hence why many folk that had a non O-A at some point kill it off by exit Thailand without a reentry permit and obtain a non O retirement. Can do that by entering thailand visa exempt and obtain a non O in Thailand or obtain non O at consulate outside of Thailand. Extensions to non O retirement do not require insurance. If you had a non O-A and are married you can do extensions based on marriage and insurance is not required.
  2. Thanks for report. Yes you took lot of extra stuff. Providing most recent 90 report receipt is required (you included that) BTW, yes they always state 2 weeks. My last one took few days so can vary.
  3. Extensions from a non O-A require 40/400 health insurance. The OP would need cover till date of expiry of pp or longer to receive extension up to date of his pp expiry
  4. You do not require 6 months validity on a passport to be stamped into Thailand as is often thought to be the case. The airlines sometimes have their own rules on this and want to see 6 months validity. He needs to check with airline.

  6. That was never an issue. BTW: I'm not sure how things work now with tourist visas to Thailand, however several + years ago I was never required to show onward flight for tourist visa application. I realize it can vary depending on where you apply. All that was required was proof of flight INTO Thailand.
  7. She didn't know airline rules. If you have a visa or reentry permit, proof of onward flight is not required. The onward flight most often is required by the airline if flying to Thailand visa exempt.
  8. I'm not advising re purchase process for 4 yr old daughter, but rather my recent experience re financial process. I gifted a house to my gf. The money side of things was very simple. I transferred money from my Oz a/c to my Thai bank account using WISE. When time for settlement I had bank cheques (teller cheque) drawn up at my bank as per instructions from vendor. Attended Land office and property transfered into partner's name. In addition I signed a statement that I had no claim to property etc. I suggest that pretty much all you need to check out is how to do that process when the new owner is to be a 4yr old. Can't see it being huge deal.
  9. Your OP, did not provide much info. Example later state that your applying and different imm office due to change of address. We can assume that you have done a TM30 and providing that however not stated etc.

  11. During the first 60 days you would obtain a non O based on retirement. That would give you a 90 day permission of stay. No need for 30 day extension. To obtain the non O the 800k only needs to be in the account on the day you apply and also needs to be shown coming from o/s. In last 30 days of 90 day permit obtain a 12 month extension. Of course he could also do the same based on marriage. Different with less onerous financials.
  12. OP, how old are your kids. BTW, surprised regarding you emphasis on question about visa. That is the most simple part to the whole move it's strange your unaware of such a simple process, having lived in Thailand for some years.
  13. Why is the "first appointment Nov 2". Which immigration office. BTW which method are you using for extension based on Retirement. Money in the bank? Seasoned for 2 months on day of application?
