Thai women conned into selling sex in Bahrain - woman arrested
Skallywag replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
"on arrival"? Was that inside the airport terminal or near the luggage claim they were forced into providing sex? Any ladies under 40 must know through the grapevine what goes on in Bahrain, or they could google it. Yes this is totally inhumane if the ladies were lied to either way IMO -
Left my condo around 12:30, got on baht bus to Jomtien, went to Kasikorn they did bank letter and printed out one year of transactions, 300 baht. Walked to immigration, got my copies of chanote, filled out my TM7, got a photo taken, 85 baht. Immigration just opened door, got in line, got a number and sat down. Started signing bottom of all my pages of bank transactions and passport copy, etc... name called, sat about 5 minutes, signed a paper, paid 1900 baht and got a number to return today for my passport. Walk back to beach road = total time a little over one hour. Stick with a retirement visa, marriage visa more involved AFAIK, just like marriages themselves...why have your life here dependent on a marriage for a visa?

I like my women. Being retired for me means the simple life. I do not need a home, pets, kids, car, or m/c . Plenty of public transpo options in Pattaya and walking is good enough for me

Buying house for Thai daughter
Skallywag replied to thai999's topic in Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership
In America you could put property, funds, etc.. into a Trust fund and have it available for the person after they reach the age of adulthood . 18 in the USA, possibly 20 in Thailand. Commend you on investing for Thai loved ones. Most people in the world are greedy and spend mostly on themselves. Helping impoverished people who are worthy is likely the most humanitarian thing you can do in this world Peace -

POLL: Should Thailand scrap the quota on foreign condo ownership?
Skallywag replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Biggest condo problem is AirBnB short term rentals in Pattaya IMO. These people are not monitored, you get 4 Indians in a studio, cooking smelly <deleted> at 9pm on their balcony and drinking Hong Thong from 7-11 while screaming at the moon and each other all night. Our condo management told us to complain to the Tourist police?!? No, it is your job to manage condo and make sure rules are followed, not just put up signs. Peace -
OP never said anything but "it's been a good run" What does that even mean? I made it? If love, passion, or happiness, are not mentioned, what is the point of posting about marriage? Jeez, neither of them are even smiling in the photo. To each their own, my marriage didn't work out (as you can likely tell) 555

Just goes to show how so many businesses are not needed. 15 t-shirt vendors on beach road, 35 massage shops on beach road. 3 kebab shops within sight of each other, etc... A town built around tourism, that cannot even keep sidewalks or electrical lines repaired is sad. City gets all this money for Beach road improvements, Bali Hai improvements, Walking street improvements, and burying the electrical lines for safety and ambience, yet little if nothing has been accomplished in the last 18 months Poverty and desperation was visible way before this pandemic unfortunately Tourism will be back, and hotels and shops will start opening, but likely way too many will open and all will be largely empty for another year or 2.

Being scared to talk to other farang
Skallywag replied to georgegeorgia's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Only been approached a couple times in 20 trips here and never in the last 3 years as a retiree here by a farang wanting money. Happens in the US where I come from as well. Gamblers, alcoholics, or drug addicts always end up broke, so some will eventually find you one day and try and scam some money, yet that is maybe a 1/500 chance on a day to day basis IMO Life is Good Peace -
Foreigner wanted for alleged rape of woman at Khon Kaen massage shop
Skallywag replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
"reason for attack". absolutely a wrong statement IMO There is no reason on earth to attack someone giving you a massage, whether your romantic/sexual advances are shunned or not. -
Foreigner wanted for alleged rape of woman at Khon Kaen massage shop
Skallywag replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
You would think the massage shop owners would start taking photos of customers Covid cert. or passport. The sign in sheets are rarely used and can be falsified, so not the answer. The reality of life anywhere these days is that there are crazy people out there, so do what you can to protect yourself if you are in a business that deals with customers one-on-one. I notice every package I get delivered, they take a photo of the package and the reception counter at my condo. Simple verification that the package is delivered. Thai massage should try and find a way to record who the customers are in reality. Should be fairly simple, though I am not a "techie" Such a sad story. My wishes for a speedy recovery for the woman -
Restaurants plead to extend opening hours to 10pm
Skallywag replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Vaccinated tourists must be allowed in without quarantine. Outdoor bars should be opened to all of course, yet without tourism little profit to be made Indoor venues must allow only vaccinated in Domestic tourism must be vaccinated to travel. Must scan your mor prom app to get gasoline or diesel, get on a bus, or a plane. Life is Good Peace -
Agree, since September 1 you can actually go out and sit down and eat at a restaurant. The number of delivery drivers am sure is helping the local economy. I personally hate the traffic from them at my condo. If you cannot even walk down or take the lift down to pick up your food, that is just laziness IMO
