Poll -- Is the novel dead (to you)?
Skallywag replied to Jingthing's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Millennials and Gen Z people will not/ do not have the same grasp on vocabulary and history if they do not read. Reading also reduces stress and keeps your brain healthy in some ways I believe. So if you do not partake in something easy and educational that is good for you that would be "shameful" ? Is my take -
Poll -- Is the novel dead (to you)?
Skallywag replied to Jingthing's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I am a bit ashamed of myself as I used to read almost every evening/night time. Last time I read a novel was on a bus trip to Bangkok Now I download TV series, movies, and watch the free TV channels at my condo, which is as good as the cable I used to buy in the US at $50 a month -
Have not had a meal inside a Mall for around 7 years. Not going to affect my life. Just saying. Hurting the wealthy corporate chain restaurants inside Malls will hurt tourism though. Yet it will help the independently owned outside restaurants. That is a good thing Sad for the Thai workers at Malls as customer base will shrink.

AstraZeneca-Pfizer vaccine mix to be employed from October
Skallywag replied to Jonathan Fairfield's topic in Thailand News
True and this is a concern for me as well. My 2nd shot is October 15, so If I get the Pfizer, I'll let you know. I got annual flu shots in the US for around 20 years so am used to the traditional vaccines, never had the mRNA -
Come to the Beach road promenade in Pattaya. You get to dodge bicycles, motorcycles, and homeless beggars while walking along, so peaceful and serene though 555

Really!? Covid has killed around 50X more people than Dengue in Thailand this year BTW

OP is talking about the antigen test, not an antibody test. BTW, the M.T. Blood lab on 3rd road in Pattaya does an Covid antibody test for 999 baht 2 weeks after your second shot. Great blood lab for many things BTW. Stay safe and healthy Peace

Is Proof of COVID Antibodies enough to grant Vaccine Exemption?
Skallywag replied to Steps's topic in COVID-19 Coronavirus
So you have had Covid 19 in the past? If not, I do not believe you can have antibodies. They do have antibody testing here in Pattaya for 1000 baht -
Having someone around/nearby is smart I think. All those symptoms are normal flu symptoms in my experience. Not comfortable when over 60 I can imagine. I am 63 now. I haven't had a flu since I was around 50 years old and had to tough it out on my own at that time.

Have you changed your mind on the COVID Vaccines?
Skallywag replied to Chomper Higgot's topic in COVID-19 Coronavirus
No I haven't changed my mind since the beginning. I got the AZ shot from phyathai 2 hospital and will get the next. Have a few friends in the US who are not vaccinated and have tried to get them to get vaccinated to no avail. The saddest part of not getting vaccinated to me is the story of my 80 year old stepmother who I am very close to still. My 80 year old step mother will never go to another family dinner or see her own brothers as they will not get vaccinated. She was already not so close to her brothers as they are hard core right wing republicans and she is not. But their wives and kids were always a joy for her and now she can only talk with them and not see them or have dinner with them. All those I know in the US that are unvaccinated are either radical right wingers (Trump fans 100%) or very religious -
People who retire in Thailand - Whats your plan?
Skallywag replied to Leveraged's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Marry a Thai woman who works for the government or a hospital or any Thai company and your health insurance is automatically covered. Problem solved Peace -
If the policemen were vaccinated I do not see a problem. LOL

Many Covid sufferers have been reported as dying in their homes as I recall. Problem is there are not enough hospital beds/oxygen tanks is what I read. Sad situation of course, but getting infected with this virus is preventable if you take measures. I admit am not much of a humanitarian when it comes to people as we have ourselves infected the whole planet with our unregulated population growth, then we are supposed to feel bad because people are starving and governments do not have the resources to take care of everyone. Yes, in my experience all governments are "greedy" and have privilege as their money is not earned, it is given by the taxpayers unwillingly at times for work that no one has to account for as well. No incentives to work hard and complete "projects" when your wages are paid by others and the money is there on payday whether you performed or not.
