  1. And as soon as possible returned to his home country, if needed by financial help from his family or his country. And a total ban on re-entering Thailand should be considered.
  2. Short holidays abroad when accumulating the 2 years back in Oz to achieve portability. This subject has been debated many many times, many comments made that short trips out of Australia during that initial 2 years period don't interrupt accumulation of the 2 year period. But it's difficult to find this stated on Centrelink websites. Has any member found a Centrelink / Services Australia websites which states this categorically? Please share.
  3. The other side of the story. If you go to the Pakistani embassy in Bkk to apply for a visa to enter Pakistan expect to be spoken to with disdain, severe rudeness and slower than slow attention.
  4. That needs correction, should read "...watching every move that everybody makes." "... we make" implies that cameras are set up specifically to catch foreigners. That's obviously not true and racist. The authorities (in any country) take advantage of modern technology to catch people (any/all people) who break the law regardless of their nationality. As they should.
  5. First the facts: a). Does your wife know where the bank book is kept? b). I'm guessing it's a joint savings account but was it set up so that: b)1. - Both parties need to sign all documents (mainly meaning withdrawals)? or b)2. - Only one party needs to sign any document including withdrawals? (It is possible the bank might have a maximum withdrawal amount for each transaction.) If it's b)2. Some banks follow the idea that if one party is still alive and that's all that's needed according to the setup of the account, she just goes ahead and signs a withdrawal / several withdrawals to remove quickly the funds. Another point; If the bank is not told you are now deceased, then if the wife presents the bank book and a withdrawal slip signed she has signed then there is no reason why the bank would not allow her to withdraw the money; just one withdrawal or several withdrawals over a short period of time. Perhaps you could talk with the bank manager, your wife must be present, and good translation provided if needed, to ask whether she can sign alone after you are deceased. And at the same time check if there's a maximum amount for withdrawals. And preferably equest the bank manager write and sign and have witnessed a short note as to what can happen with the bank account. Perhaps also worth considering to write a simple will, and in the will, amongst other items make it specific that all assets (including bank balances and other specific items) are bequeathed by your wife, with her complete name, ID card number etc. But make sure the will is properly signed and witnessed.
  6. If the paymaster can 'arrange' (has enough money) a return home then why can't the red Bull family arrange the same for Boss? Seems to me that the Pamaster is a billionaire but the Red Bull family probably several times richer. i
  7. Actually I blocked you many months ago, but recently a miracle unblocked you.
  8. Friend booked a hole in the wall hotel for one night a few KM from Don Muang airport. Check-in girl at hotel insisted that farang leave his passport at the desk overnight. Next morning, girl claims she can't find the passport. Hotel owner appears because of raised voices. Girl says 'but I've never seen a passport before so I want to keep it'. Hotel owner demands the passport and quickly gives it to the farang with quite an apology. Check-in girl is instantly sacked and says in Thai (farang speaks advanced Thai) 'now I know why many friends say farang are not nice people'.
  9. I had no hesitation to trust my Thai wife (Dr. of medicine, sadly departed). - I have never had any reason whatever to not trust son - I have never had any reason whatever to not trust my Thai daughter in law - I have never had any reason whatever to not trust my 3 Thai granddaughters Before debit cards / bank apps, with all of them we've been in restaurants and shops and I've given them my wallet and they know to take whatever cash is needed to pay the bill. Now I give them my wallet, they take my debit card or my smartphone and use it the bill, never been any problem. But they all know to give me the receipt or whatever. ******************************************** But, my company changed my work location requiring me to drive 70 km to work and home again every day. Company arranged a driver. Driver seemed OK until the tyres needed replacing, I asked him to take the car to a tyre place and replace all the tyres with new suitable tyres. I asked around about cost and gave my driver enough cash to get new tyres. That evening I noticed nise that wasn't previously evident. I spoke to the qualified company mechanic and mentioned new tyres had been fitted. He took a look / drove the car a few km then said: - The NEW tyres are not NEW, they are well used second hand tyres. - The NEW tyres are not suitable for this car. - All of the 'NEW' tyres are worn a lot more on one edge of the tyre compared to the other edge of the tyre. - Mechanic gave me a written report and a copy went to the HR dept. - Same day my driver was dismissed and next day I got a new driver.
  10. Could be money, could be... Years back, in Bkk, I couldn't find my quite new, quite expensive new hi-tech camera (way before smartphone cameras). I mentioned to my best friend and work colleague I couldn't find it. He came to my apartment and we did a very detailed / structured search. Camera not found. A few days later friends Thai GF came to the office. I noticed a camera around her neck, she had never done this before. I wondered and asked her If I could take a closer look, she took it off her neck and gave it to me with lots of comments about the wonderful new hi-tech in the camera etc., and about the camera being a birthday gift from her farang BF. I turned it over and sure enough I saw the several scuff marks which I could connect to several incidents when I was handling the camera when it was in my possession. I took my 'best farang friend' aside and asked where he got the money to pay for the camera, he had been borrowing money from me and other work colleagues regularly. And I asked him to turn the camera over and tell me if there were several scuff marks near / not neat the facility to screw the camera onto a tripod. He said 'yes'. He froze for a few seconds and I then accused him of stealing the camera from me. He admitted he had stolen it 2 weeks earlier from my apartment, and he said 'I didn't have any money to buy her a birthday gif, so what else would you expect me to do'. Unbeknown to me and my 'best buddy' our farang boss had been listening. Boss joined the discussion and said to the other farang 'You are dismissed, give me your work permit now, it will be cancelled later today and I will tell the visa agency the details and insist they cancel your visa within 24 hrs'. He flew out the next day, the company paid for his ticket but deducted the ticket cost from salary not yet paid. Never heard of again. Camera returned to me, I gave it to a charity organization.
  11. OIC and what Immigration regulation is that: 2024.45 (e.ii)?
  12. "...drug manufacturing and distribution...." Thamanat can help with that, he did an 8 year offshore course and returned to be a minister under a PM who openly ignored served jail sentences on CVs.
  13. "...and trawl the farang hang outs for potential customers, their reputation generally is the lowest of the low...." Totally agree. Many years back I worked for an oil giant, the company built and operated a giant new oil refinery near Rayong. For many months during the building of the refinery and the start up we had over 200 specialized farang oil / chemical engineers and computer engineers on site. Quickly there was quite some activity by so called 'investment advisors' swarming the site. Many had got past the front security gate even though there was a big sign 'Investment Advisors (IA) and similar <and more> cannot enter this site'. There was many incidents of farang IA getting into the main admin. / operations building and just walking into the offices of farang and instantly starting their spiel. In one case a number of farang wives (lived in a western style moo bahn about 3 or 4 km from the refinery receiving phone calls from these IA and or IA knocking on their front door. It was later discovered a farang IA had been able to steal an internal telephone directory which included work / job / department etc., details and personal details. The police were called, the company phone directory was recovered and the farang involved was quickly deported. In one incident a farang engineer was cornered in his office and the IA gave a spiel about an investment product and pushed the engineer to sign. The farang engineer said 'but what about tax on this product'. Response form the IA 'none of these products is subject to any form of taxation and tax is just not important anyway. The engineer called security and the farang IA was escorted off the site. A couple of years later I was transferred to the company big office in Bkk. One day I was chairing an important meeting with about 20 other employees present (50/50 Thai / farang employees). A farang young lady suddenly opened my office door and walked in and straight up to me any said over the top of my meeting discussion 'Do you have investments for your old age and if not why not?' The young farang lady was probably mid 20s, dressed like a hippie and wearing rubber thongs. My secretary called the building security and she was soon marched out. But as she was leaving she said loudly 'and I can tell your fortune for 5,000Baht'.
  14. "God might save people here and there..." This is the part I don't accept (what others accept is of course their business). Is god really capable of monitoring every human being and changing / adjusting things to ensure each person is safe / recovers from serious illness etc etc? My comments are NOT intended to try to pull anybody away from their religious beliefs, they are entitled to believe if they wish. But I am am also entitled to not believe.
  15. What happened to Nakorn Chai Air bus service? A few years back I used their service CM to BKK and return several times, always quite happy with their service, and they had a good well deserved reputation for safety.
  16. Why no answer from the OP?
  17. If you were previously covered by Medicare it can be very quickly reinstated (5 minutes) by a quick visit to any Centrelink office. No charge. If you still have the old card or any document with your Medicare number take that with you to Centrelink. it makes the reinstatement process pretty much instantaneous.
  18. '...have a warped sense of who and what God is ..." So please share what God is to you and what you think others believe to be god.
  19. "...as well as homosexuality. ..." Strange, there's many theology experts who claim that homosexuality is not mentioned anywhere in the bible.
  20. "...difficult to imagine some of the yobbos on here bending down reverently before sidling into the pew...." I agree, because I am not a believer, and never will be. You might like to note there's been several reports recently that there is no evidence whatever that Jesus or God ever existed. My main experience with christianity was when I was conscripted for national service, about 1 month before the end of boot camp (3 months total) we were told that the next day we would going to the camp chapel to meet / listen to the camp chaplain (Church of England guy) for an hour. Up to that point nobody knew there was a chapel / chaplain in the camp, and a couple of soldiers were strongly upset because if they had known they would have tried to attend a service or gone to the chapel alone to pray. We marched in and were told to stand to attention in front of one of the chairs all lined in rows. The chaplain came in in his robes and told us to sit down. Two NCO trainers sat at the side along with our platoon officer, a young officer who had recently returned after his service in Vietnam was completed. The chaplain walked back and forth repeating continuously 'I am your friend', and 'Jesus, god and myself promise you that you will not get injured when you are in Sth Vietnam'. Plus more and more 'I am your friend'. Then he said I invite you to ask me any questions / any questions at all, and I will answer your questions. A few guys asked questions and the chaplain answered. Then I asked 'sir I have never understood where the bible came from?' The chaplain then 'turned' and got extremely angry and accused me of being insulting to the bible, god, jesus and to him. He then instructed 2 soldiers to march me to the camp commanders office and to tell the camp commander that I had been insulting. A few minutes later, no opportunity to confirm or deny the chaplains claim and i was ordered to do extra cleaning duties every morning from 3:00 am to until about 6. 30am for the rest of my time at the boot camp. A couple of days later a few of the new conscripts and myself were talking to the platoon officer. He mentioned 'there is severe danger in the operational areas in Sth. Vietnam, soldiers get killed, lose limbs and more and the chaplain should not have told you he can totally protect you, and he looked at me and said 'I'm sorry the chaplain got so angry with you and that you are doing kitchen duties for no valid reason'. The platoon officer then said; - Make sure you listen very carefully to your orders at all times - Never take any action that was not instructed by your senior leader except of course to try to shoot the enemy. So much for Christianity.
