  1. Thank you - all very clear. ๐Ÿ‘ Tbh, there's no way I'd alter my prescribed meds without consulting my GP / specialist. But I do think it behoves anyone with any medical condition to keep up to date on developments from reliable sources and then ask the pertinent questions. Had I been a little more assiduous 5 years ago, I may not have had the attack at all ๐Ÿ™„
  2. No you're wrong. They only ever go one way.....AT A TIME! ๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿคฃ
  3. Therein lies the rub! I had high cholesterol and high BP which, stupidly, I basically ignored. Then I had a heart attack! Now I'm on a Statin and several BP-reducing meds. I get a blood test every year confirming that the meds are working, and not causing any bad effects to my liver, kidneys etc. So my (possible) dilemma is do I stop taking the meds and risk another attack, or carry on and risk....something else???? As medical science advances, today's cures are sometimes discovered to cause more harm than good - as others have said this article says ".............we present a perspective that statins may be causative in coronary artery calcification........" @Sheryl you confirmed it needs further study but what did you mean by your comment "Statin use by people who do not have CAD is more controversial especially for borderline lipid levels."? And is the source of the OP considered to be reliable, would you say?
  4. It's not! It's just that this has gone unexposed for far too long. Parts of the world are moving away from battery chickens - I don't know about Thailand. Here in UK one can buy free-range eggs, for example. The only SMALL saving grace is that the chickens are at least there for food - does NOT mean it's OK though. The tigers were there for so-called "entertainment". ๐Ÿคฌ
  5. And then there's religion!! ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ
  6. How did you handle the situation? Did you have to make a bolt for it or were you too keyed up to screw up the courage?? You're just unhinged!
  7. Ah my hero - that well-known spoiling misteake - Spoke Milligna from "Q". The only one to keep a straight face in that sketch was Katie Boyle but I often wonder what would have happened if she'd turned round and seen the capers. ๐Ÿคฃ
  8. Nor is the imaginary friend of those who believe in the "creator". Exactly. Talking to one's imaginary friend might be construed as a sign of mental instability, but call it religion and call the "friend" God, and it becomes OK ! IMO, religion (ALL of them) are the world's biggest conspiracy theories
  9. Actually, I who visit Pattaya regularly, would love to take a small side-trip on a ferry to HH. Last time I visited HH was when driving, with a friend from Patts - BKK - Phuket. We did a "comfort stop" at HH and I thought I'd like to spend a couple of days there. Just don't fancy the bus to BKK and then HH and back. ๐Ÿ˜ฉ
  10. I don't think I'd have waited to be asked.... In the words of Groucho Marx "I donโ€™t want to belong to any club that would have me as a member."
  11. Bumping this thread but "Clear notifications" button still missing. Any clues @george...?
  12. Love it - especially as, at the bottom of your post it says: Intentional use of that particular feature perhaps? ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ
  13. I fink it wos er wot teached me to speak proper......innit!
  14. I never knew about the original, 1964 version which came from the "Sykes" TV show. I always thought the 1967 one with Tommy Cooper was the original Now have all 3 in my collection. As you say @Crossy many late lamented British comedy stars - between these 3 a real collection. Thanks ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘
  15. That's an interesting angle. A sine of your thought processes perhaps.......or am I going off at a tangent?
  16. @RichardColeman I quite agree with what you say, especially your first sentence! There is a "however" though. I have NOT looked this up to confirm, but there used to be an alternative for those, like yourself, who are not earning but are financially "comfortable". That was the option to show one's savings instead of income. So if you have, as you say, minimal outgoings, but own a property outright, have savings and basically "do not need hand-outs" that may, or rather should be, a route.
  17. Merely the sum total of my calculations ๐Ÿ™„
  18. You seem to have a formula for these. Now I don't mean to be divisive, or subtract anything from your total, but are you sure they add up? ๐Ÿงฎ
  19. I have annual insurance via my bank account in UK. Their standard is to allow 30 days per trip, but you can extend it to 60 on payment of a supplement which I do. My next trip in February will be for 59 days total absence from UK. Plus, because it's annual cover my already bought ticket is covered immediately.
  20. And if you hover the mouse over the pic, you get.......
  21. I think ever week be more appropriate. Actually Walking St has one every morning between 2 and 4 AM. Attended by as many drunks and reprobates as one could possibly imagine ๐Ÿ˜œ See you there?
  22. Made a note to go and look for it when i'm back in Feb ๐Ÿ‘
  23. You say "used to be". Any idea if it's moved on or any further info please.
  24. Hardly a "good walk" - it's probably less than 500 metres!
  25. Spot on! Especially "A lot of guys fall in love with the idea of being in love." In my younger, less cynical realistic days I could have been found guilty of that. If you start out with "pay for play", chances are that you're dealing with a "bad" woman. Trouble is, bad women are SO much fun! ๐Ÿ˜Ž
