Behaviour from the visitors is cheap. I've witnessed up to 10 young visitors share a tiny little hotel room. Smoking cigarettes that had been put out. Drinking anything leftover. Why? Why do they come this far to do that? They could stay in Benidorm, where drinks are cheap as water. They need to ban hostels for a starters. Phuket if you want to stay in a five star resort, eat in good restaurants is pricey at times.

Bangkok to Roll Out 1,520 Electric Buses by Year's End
DonniePeverley replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
No matter what happens the red diesel black smoke busses will still be there. No matter what happens, a nuclear strike, a covid virus, those busses will never go. -

Foreign Takeover? Thailand's Hotels Face Investment Surge

As the visa schemes were relaxed, visitors were allowed to stay longer, it was open door for these scams to happen. Complete disgrace. -
Thailand Urged to Enhance Tourist Screening Amid Visa-Free Boom
DonniePeverley replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Thailand open door visa policy is a mistake. It simply attracts cheap quality tourists, that turns away high end family tourists. Culture erosion, crime, infrustructure pressures, and VERY CHEAP tourists have ruined the image. There should have been a pivot to quality tourism. Allowing cheap backpackers, and cheap tourists to stay here for longer periods with such little over sight and measures is a barbaric mistake of epic proportions. No other country on this planet has an open door visa policy for Indians. None. Not even African countries. Thailand does. What's going on here ? -
Thailand Dismisses Claims of 94% Drop in Chinese Tourists
DonniePeverley replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Doesn't matter. The volume of Benidorm Brits, cheap Europeans and Indians i am seeing is through the roof. Yesterday i saw a Benidorm group drinking leftover drinks lying around on bars. The queue in 7/11 for cheese toasties was crazy too.- 63 replies

Driving licence and permit to drive
DonniePeverley replied to DonniePeverley's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Yes the resident certificate. When we spoke to the car company they said you needed that. Then when we made enquiries to insurance they said we needed a driving license, not the driving permit from the UK. We have the relelvent visas. Any agent in Bangkok can do this ? -
So we've been looking at cars, unbeknown to idiots like us we didn't realise we needed a permit to buy a car here. Also it appears the driving permit we purchased in the UK is not enough either for insurance purposes. Is there any agents who can do these for you ? Futhermore, if not is it quite straightforward for these two items ?

Pai's Big Bust: 7 Tourists Nabbed for Public Cannabis Use
DonniePeverley replied to snoop1130's topic in Chiang Mai
They need to send a clearer message in Phuket too. But this was desperately needed in Pai - as most of the people there are staying long term. -
Pai's Tourism Woes: Over 1,600 Foreigners Arrested in a Year
DonniePeverley replied to snoop1130's topic in Chiang Mai
It's full of party goers now. I went for a few days. You had isrealis, Russians and Benidorm Brits there - the party variety. Awful, absolute garbage level of people. 7/11 was busy cos these cheap skates were dining on cheap cheese toasties, and swigging leftover beer they could find lying around. If Pai is going to trash itself, at least get some proper tourism money in. -
When did Phuket go from a beautiful island to this rotten cheap Benidorm party town catering to cheap tourists ?

Pai's Tourism Woes: Over 1,600 Foreigners Arrested in a Year
DonniePeverley replied to snoop1130's topic in Chiang Mai
The government needs to get rid of TAT. They're an outdated organisation now. Tell me one they've done to improve tourism in Thailand? It's jus CHEAP MASS TOURISM with a horrific experience. The government opening the borders to the world is what is driving the insane volume of numbers of cheap tourists. -

Foreign Couple’s Haircut Scam at Koh Phangan Salon
DonniePeverley replied to Georgealbert's topic in Koh Samui News
Eh ? Point being they could also be Indian, or Arabs. Just seems rather specific to say they are Pakistani ... unless they told the shop keeper they were from Pakistan. Such a random way to save money. Also where is the image taken - outside the shop? He appears to be putting a sock on. -
Foreign Couple’s Haircut Scam at Koh Phangan Salon
DonniePeverley replied to Georgealbert's topic in Koh Samui News
They don't look Pakistani from those images. But hey ho ... quality tourists. -
Chinese tourists are now looking elsewhere as they see cheap mass tourism everywhere in Thailand. Even the middle class Chinese are put off. Allowing foreigners to stay longer, allow visa free for the whole world (including India, African countries) was a barbaric mistake that has left Thailand open to cheap mass tourists that have ruined the culture, beauty, environmental beauty of the place. Furthermore, the Benidorm British and draft dodging Russians who are staying here now longer have turned the place upside down into trashy party zones. Quality tourists are heading elsewhere for their sun and peace.
