the government can't win this censorship war. In june the new minister of digital control ordered facebook to shut down accounts of 10 the most prominent opposition figures. Facebook just ignored those requests. Because of the publicity (all thai mass media carried articles about these requests) hundreds of thousands people actually started to follow those accounts. The only the government can do is court order against each post on social media. But it takes weeks before they are deleted and owners of those posts can re-post them, causing double embarrassment. When the royalist marketplace group on fb was ordered to be geoblocked in thailand, they sprang within seconds and within few weeks doubled their membership (with over 2mln they are one of the largest groups on the entire fb). It's also known for long, that thai have many accounts on social media and not under their true name. Even easier to be completely anonymous on twitter. You can't really repress when hashtag #rumour on twitter hit 5.3mln in September. Clearly, self-censorship doesn't work anymore, with people commenting and sharing strictly no-no subjects, including republicanism. The single gateway did not work to trace the IP's. The ISOC (internal security operations command) is employing of thousands intelligence officers just to monitor the net and run their hate campaigns. But they are not skilled and every few months there is a scandal showing their involvement. Twitter and fb can track them by algorithms and shut them

SURVEY: How high will this Covid wave go?
internationalism replied to Scott's topic in Thailand News
according to a mathematical simulation done a week ago, the pick would be 14-29.9 with up to 45k positives and 400-500 deaths daily. I suspect, that simulation run today would show October and figures 20% higher. -
there are already 5 vax in thailand sinovac (that was also donated by chinese for their citizens) j&j (donated to consulate, all to french over 45) az (some 415k donated by the UK, might go to some foreigners) sinopharm pfizer (donated by the usa, out of 1.5mln same much less than 150k will go for foreigners) in some 2 month moderna 5mln for private hospitals, already 1mln stolen by the red cross. Many foreigners have bought it, because at that time there was no chance for a free any other one
-
sinovac is inactivated, similar to astra. thailand has approved mixing them when it transpired, that sinovac is ineffective against delta. Now it also looks like astra is not good against delta as expected. pfizer is mrna, different technology. Mixing and matching is the best way of protection against different strains

Record 670,834 vaccinations given on August 5th in Thailand
internationalism replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
sinopharm turns out not to be that effective for seniors - failed in 25% of population to give even the minimum protection. possibly will be given also to children, was recently approved. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-08-03/sinopharm-vaccine-falls-short-on-antibodies-in-budapest-study -
since March, so in 5 months, 22% had the first shot and 6% had the second shot. Only 19%, of the total 100mln planned this year. There is no chance that within the next 5 month minimum 70% can be fully vaccinated. There is shortage of the AZ from the start, only half of projected monthly allowance will be delivered. Sinovac is ineffective for delta. The mRNA were ordered just 2 weeks ago and waiting time is well over for the next year. With new mutations arriving, those already vaccinated will need the booster within 6 months, i.e. already this year

"Dr. Anan Jongkaewwattana, director of Veterinary Health Innovation" I agree that animals should be also protected from diseases, because they might cross to humans, but so far there is no indication it's happening with covid. Altimmune the nasal spray vax was abandoned in the USA at the end of June. Looks, like it's not that simple, that covid is airborne and the best way is vax through inhallation. The great majority of vax are through injection. Very few are pills. https://ir.altimmune.com/news-releases/news-release-details/altimmune-announces-update-adcovidtm-phase-1-clinical-trial so good luck with trying. Possibly would be more efficient to concentrate on one spray vax, than on many at the same time, because likely it will be wasted work

that virus was detected at quarantine doesn't mean, that that case passed it around. In case of a new strain they would be screened very thoroughly before letting home. There are hundred illegal immigrants from birma being stopped every single day. That's only tip of an iceberg, as 2500km land border in the jungle can't be controlled. Most likely thousands are crossing, partly because of the military coup and repressions. Pandemic in birma deteriorated fast, because of health service collapse

no, thank you, this website is not secured. All data was leaking, including those of diplomats, the UN and other international agencies employees, who had also to register there. To the point they have to shut down this website completely. Even expatvac had 40 minutes security breach, when all data was exposed. I did register 2x chula, vimut hospital, expatvac and medpark. For the purpose of enrolling for covid vax I did register with tropical disease department of chula and vax clinic at red cross. Don't you think it's not enough? why are you so pushy? are you working as a volunteer for a thai government vax program? I think you are not the first and the the one. I have spotted you many here and elsewhere
-
Medpark - yes, they did. that's why I have written that reply. email 10 minutes after a successful registration: "You do not meet the criteria to receive free government allocated vaccination at this time. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Please follow our official communication channels for any upcoming updates."
-
hold on. I have registered with them 2x - for AZ in May and for Sinopharm in July. Dark red, approaching certain age, for consideration for a vax. No any reply. I did also to try once again the last Wednesday, to no avail - could not register, before they closed down registration for a week. Shambles Shameless Royal Academy

Overseas postage not available. Are there other options?
internationalism replied to 2long's topic in General Topics
yesterday international service was still offered. might be an issue with indian post office. Ask them, when they stopped service and when they do expect to commence. -
since registering from sunday, nobody was vaccinated so far. And no any appointments given. No kind of vaccination was specified, nor criteria for selection to get one. So it well might be just for propaganda purpose, daily announcement from the ministry of foreign affairs (acting now as ministry of health)

Thailand Introduces Favipiravir Syrup
internationalism replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
ok, 10% of infected are children. As many as elderly. So 20% is still 4k patients daily which would potentially benefit
