  1. that 55bln gbp is per year so total in the next 7 years would be hundreds of bln. Some taxpayers might take offence to be part in murder. I am afraid that military budget would be growing well above those 2.5%. Might be closer to 1% per year when war approaching. Germany has already planned 2.5% for the next year, and they are slightly less blood thirsty than the UK (with is't closest relation with USA and colonial past)
  2. what's age of Kitti - the rapist? looks like he was/is in some kind of relationship with this girl, knowing each other phone numbers and taking her invitation to meeting. "a representative who works on a working party with Thai MP Thammanat Prompao" - thammanat is a rapist himself, and murderer. How he can be involved in charitable work for rape victims?
  3. that's a nationalistic statement. A poor one, in face of political defeat at coming elections. But what he meant is to sacrifice freedoms and wealth for the good of his government rule. I don't think it would work well for the younger generation and for the lower strata of society.
  4. nowdays even petrol station loos do have soap. Gel alcohol or the other sanitiser dispensers are also everywhere. And many people carry them and use. You can get a small dispenser with a clip, to attach to trouser's belt or outside your shirt pocket - same, which medics always used. You can get them at any pharmacy. Refill when empty. I was hand shaked by a hospital doctor at the end of consultation. That was August the last year, at Delta times. It was a nice gesture of him, he initialised it. I was surprised and moved. Physical contact is important. It's you who can initialise greeting - fist, pat on the shoulder. Don't wait for them to extend hand to you, it's too late to not react to it, they would be offended.
  5. most probably she doesn't have any symptoms or mild. That's why refused. Hospitalisation is from 39.5C for minimum 24h or minimum 25 breaths per minute. Anything between is up to local covid policies. If her company could not give her insurance, she has the right to get this money included in wages.
  6. the only european country aeroflot is doing is turkey, with some 5 airports. Would have to get turkish visa (I think $30 in the airport) and catch some other airline to rest of europe. Not practical, even if cheaper. Turkish Airlines are now one of the cheapest from bangkok to europe, but I have yet to fly with them
  7. check ups are not covered by insurance (unless expensive ones). ordinary blood check ups are around 1000b at the governmental hospitals (my full package check up 1800b included also chest xray, stool, urine and dr consultation). blood check up for several cancer markers and EKG was 1400b in another governmental hospital
  8. would you please mention what airline and how to find their sale? before pandemic it was scoot with the cheapest fare to europe. But now they have only very few flights per month to some of destinations and prices are higher than the regular one, even higher than thai airways direct flights
  9. Not likely, as there are several different strains and they are mutating, some pf them became drug resistant. There are many antimalarial drugs, some 10-20 of them. But prevention is needed by vaccination, that one is worked on but not ready. Malaria was a serious problem in SE asia up to the last century, when modern drugs appear. Doesn't mean that thai have natural immunity, risk is the same to expats, tourists as for thai, if they live in those 3 provinces and close to monkeys
  10. Probably getting bitten by infected monkey, but even then that monkey would have be bleeding from her mouth. That would be rare event. Saliva doesn't carry malaria, nor any other body fluids. Malaria pre-pandemic was coming to thailand from infected migrant workers from neighbouring countries. Probably thats why only 10 malaria cases in 2021. monkey malaria pre-dates the Pox b half a year, sharp rise in infections from October 2021, later connected to transmission from monkey areas. Probably because of the ongoing omicron it was not reported wildly, as still a very small scale. It came to light only in May. they should do a national prevention program for malaria in monkeys, at least in those 3 provinces, otherwise it would spread wider. There are medicines, down to drastic measures culling infected herds. there is drug resistant malaria which originated from north east around surin and spread north-east to cambodia, laos and vietnam in a territorial shape of crescent, there was an article about it on the bbc some 5 years ago. Still, it's a small risk in asia, but potential serious situation when it spreads with travellers to africa.
  11. do some of them at Na Jomtien, huge and empty beach. Tens of thousands can safely gather there. Close the road from the regular traffic so cars can park there and traders would come back
  12. but it was very himself, who in 2014 paved the way for a coup. All democrat parliamentarians went on the streets with Bangkok Shutdown, obstructing the general election by physically blocking polling stations and national ballot papers distribution centre. The all wanted a coup because they knew well, that they would never get any meaningful vote. Abhisit himself was just a puppet for a deep state and military when the constitutional court disqualified the red government on technicalities. He is completely has been, as the whole democrat party. They have lost bangkok. The remains are in the south in semi-feudal mafia ridden social set up, where they are able to control voters
  13. this widened beach is now some 70m (and can be widened later on, when all work would be finished in nothern part). On that stretch pavement is very narrow, only about 1m, so a paved path below pavement would be good addition - that for joggers, walkers. There should be also proper parking bays, not just long wise to the pavement. They have them in Jomtien. Otherwise parking on any unused land patches across the road. That would solve road congestion, at least for some time.
  14. it's done on the spot, so around 30 minutes total. They need application and picture (or two). Probably more convenient at the airport, just before immigration, opened 24h
  15. I have seen promotional price at Thonburi 2 hospital for 14k, but not including dr consultation, preparation and some small print conditions. the common price is 15-20k, from I read on the other threads. Do go to the nearest large governmental hospital. Possibly one associated with medical university, for better english communication
  16. nongnooch gardens and koh larn for daily trips. paddle boards are in Na Jomtien, further south. get involved with her with frisbee, balls. In the evenings there are volleyball and group fitness with instructor. There should also be tennis courts around. I know one some 30 minutes walk to south, next to B2 Sea Vie Hotel. On the same soi there are paddle boards and some other water sports
  17. that looks like more like an out brake, if infections rose from 10 to some 140 (projected for 12 months). Warning about touching monkeys or worry that malaria can spread between humans are nonsense, no point of scaring people with imagined dangers. Malaria is spread only by mosquito. There are many anti-malaria medicines over the counter, starting with doxycicline. Also quinine and chloroquinine. Out brake in Trat is on Koh Chang, with over 10 cases. That is a touristy island and many monkeys close to homes, as it's a national park. The rest 60 cases were in 2 provinces with small tourist inflow, they were locals living close to jungle. Definitely authorities should solve problem of monkeys on Koh Chang, putting to sleep those infected and moving the rest into deep jungle and inhabited islands. Medicines for malaria can be given in food. Even some medicines to make them infertile. That would be disaster for koh chang tourism if this out brake is not contained. Looks like reaction there to disease is too slow. That article if from May. There were many cases already in March. https://thethaiger.com/news/national/11-malaria-patients-found-in-thailands-east-blood-from-monkeys-on-koh-chang-tested
  18. Nobody commented on this lead. They have 3 policies, that one below is silver (the middle range), covers $5mln per life (not per year). Looks good value, with some $200/month, which can be lowered below $100 per month with $10k deductible (so comparable to I think would be good if some insurance agent/professional looked at it to evaluate. Problem, that because they don't have this policy on their books, they won't likely comment on it. Unless to pay them some 1000 baht to get their opinion. 19. on one of the insurers website (I think it was Luma), I came across cost of internal operations in thailand at the governmental hospitals. Ranged from 130 to 210k. This comparison was done several years ago, so prices are higher now. They were not orthopedic operations, like broken bones etc. Similar operations at private hospitals start from $10k, but range wildly https://blog.lumahealth.com/costs-major-surgery-thailand
  20. blue movies are done legally all over the world for tens of years. Even if it's still illegal in thailand, it's a rather harmless crime (bar this one 17 old girl). So police name their names, but not names of cops who took multi-million bribes. Taking bribes is a serious crime (in all normal countries), that also includes giving them. Thailand has many sex stars, police slap them just with some fines.
  21. looks like he failed to run properly this committee on water resources for many years. He suppose to supervise those multiple organisations, facilitate cooperation between them. And not just from one crisis to the next one, but constant work of planning and prevention. Interesting to know who Prawit has already on his books as the first minister
  22. those weekend muslim Malaysian cross border visitors, which use to come in millions, will just have to travel a little further north. Budget flights to phuket, hat yai, even Hua Hin and Utapao. Even seasonal tourist charter flights for a week holidays. They will stay longer, extended weekends, and spend more money each time.
  23. your 2 above replies point to your bitchy character, not discussing issue of masking, but personal scores. As if you had a boring life
  24. as before - they can't change on their website before published in gazette. TAT statement confirmed yesterday no pass
  25. there is an outlet of storm canal/sewer which washed away part of the new beach. For over a month they are laying there those huge multi ton sandbags. This beach is washed away by the current. Unless they protect it in some way, it would disappear - as the previous one. Just matter of time. Water will always be dirty on the new beach, they don't fill it up with pure sand.
