  1. so what about cancelling 5th day test for T&G and sandbox? what about quarantine for those incomers tested positive on day 1? That changes are beyond competence of a local government. Surely, the central government would object for different rules for Thailand Pass. If that is sorted, phuket might take some potential travellers from the other airports And what about compulsory negative test when leaving phuket by air to Bangkok and elsewhere? Chances of being positive are high, so going back to quarantine for 5 days and self-isolation for another 5 days. Those, who would like to move from phuket to the other provinces might be stacked put there on island for long. Possibly all right for tourists (who are minority), but not for all the other travellers
  2. much more interesting, to he very last paragraph: "Things would have been different if Thailand was truly democratic and with an honest administration, he said. Paween said he fled Thailand in Nov 2015 after his investigation into mass graves at migrant camps was halted after five months by influential people in the government, including the military and police themselves." https://www.facebook.com/KhaosodEnglish/posts/5245709785447911
  3. same as you - reading the government regulations and random musings from forums. No, I don't know what media are writing, don't read them. I am not a covid junkie. as I have said - I think authorities don't do contact tracing. Airport health officials might, or might not, contact you within the first 5 days
  4. you can plan some 2 weeks in advance. some health insurance require 14 days delay. so you have 3.5 months of slow reading
  5. it's only seating directly to infected, so max 2 passengers. If you know this passenger is infected you can refuse seating there. You can choose any free seat on an air plane. It's 7 days isolation in ASQ hotel. That timing might be shortened to 3-4 days, as signalled already in november. On landing you need to fill up health form disclosing seat number on aiplane. You can chose any seat without nobody next to you, write it down on this form. You might be contacted by health authorities if on any test your direct neighbour was positive. But by now I think they don't do contact tracing. They even were not able to follow 5-7 days tests for over a month. They are pretty much disorganised
  6. I have tried to check you info on emirates requiring 48h results if transiting through dubai. I couldnt find any. can you point to source?
  7. no, it's impossible to tell when infections will start falling. it well might be many weeks more. so far authorities are gearing for more. Emptying hospital wards, getting patients into home isolation
  8. you need all documents which you used for thailand pass plus pcr. TP can be also on smartphone, but at check in they like to have paper copy. Same documents you need at check in and in transit airport
  9. I think the only reasonable priced, and still very expensive at around 100k, would be pacificcross. And that with max possible deductible. If overpriced you have to go self insurance. But you can get stand alone large accident insurance
  10. apple. They have also bangkok office and local policies. Or can be taken from paris under the EU regulations. But not cheap
  11. on misteprakan you can compare all major insurers. I have chosen pacificcross, the best value for money. The cheapest one with a very large 300k deductible. Additionally the largest possible accident. So far I hadn't got chance to claim. For not claiming they got up to 20% discount on extension
  12. salaya pet hospital run by mahidol university. It's a teaching hospital, so very high level of care. My dog was diagnosed by a professor who was running classes there. It's on the west border of bangkok. Opens 8:30-4pm, the last registration 14:30. They have vets specialising in many medical conditions, for example kidney specialist is only available on fridays
  13. talking to all neighbours, writing a letter for them to be dropped at letterboxes, with a pledge for a cctv recordings on the night animals were poisoned, would be a partial proof, that that chicken owner was indeed responsible. Neighbours can send copies of cctv to your email box and directly to police. Neighbours should be asked to report to police a crime which happen. All can sign a petition to police to investigate. Also all can talk to the murderer. You can make his killing hobby something, which he would regret. Including bringing corpses of dead animals to his property and asking him to bury them in his backyard. Asking local authorities to force him to bury. Also asking for compensation for each domesticated animal. If your claims are not met, taking him to courts
  14. yes, I have read that some others have also received sms about cancelling their policies. So not specific to me, just coincidence. According to my friend nurse who is dealing with insurance claims at hospital, insurer has 15-30 days to process claim. She couldn't find exactly about my policy. I have asked for full wording of my insurance to my broker and insurer, but no reply for many days. However, I have received confirmation sms from southeast that they have received my claim and apologising for delay
  15. that was pre-covid. For almost 2 years land borders are closed. I do also use trains extensively, as well as cheaper night couches, but only if I cant use air planes (very heavy luggage, air travel covid requirements etc). But surely covid risk is higher, because new passengers alighting at each station, stop. Walking next to you along corridor. Sitting very close to you. So on a long 800km train journey I might have next to me 10-20 potentially infected co-travellers. I am very aware of this, but sometimes there is no choice
  16. that is exactly the same study from malaysia, which TallGuy posted 10h ago
  17. that is a surprise. This regulation might be a reason why I find dubai airport crowded, with passengers switching from etihad to emirates and saving themselves $50 on each test and inconvenience of delayed travel, including forced hospitalisation in thailand or elsewhere. Emirates would even accept passenger with a positive test, if had recovered for over 14 days from the first positive
  18. talk itself is suspected in causing cancer. best to be avoided. That I read sometimes 20 years ago. Thai population is overusing talk. It suppose to be for nappy skin rush, for baby bottoms. Not for sensitive, thin skin on face, intimate parts, underarms and the whole body.
  19. i was offered 2 x6mg of iver in thai hospital when positive with omicron. I declined, because I happen to have my own. Probably that was a daily dose, to be repeated for up to 10 days. From the first contact to my ill cousin (he wasn't sure if he has omicron or flu) I took almost 50 pills of iver 5mg, some 5 pills daily. For favipiravir 200mg they wanted 350b per pill, which is about 30x more expensive, that the locally made generic by the GPO costs at the government hospital. They gave me 9 pills to be taken as a first dose. I have declined it also, as 3150b per day for 10 days would brake my insurance for max 100k compensation. I haven't asked them for price of iver, but I would imagine in thousands per pill (at pharmacy only 100b). Country in europe, where I used to live, has approved iver for covid for over a year now.
  20. "resumption of the Test and Go program,” but this program was already resumed on 1st February. What he probably meant was going back to an original version, when only 1st day test was required. For businessmen travelling to thailand entry for up to just 4 days should be good enough. Instead of going to test at hotel, they go to the airport. An international business trip is usually short, those 2-3 days should be good enough. For thai businessmen staying abroad as long as possible, travelling to different countries to finish all jobs in one go, might be a solution. Why they are advocating Test & Go program, designed for tourism, is puzzling. Press for changed rules for a business visa
  21. I don't think any airline has an obligation to impose their own rules on passengers. It suppose to be a national strategy, same for all airlines and airports in the country. Imagine each having their own rules and passengers flying several airlines and several airports to their destination. It would be impossible to follow all those constantly changing rules and not falling into a trap. For travel to thailand newer than 72h pcr test is needed (with an average passenger 36h test validity). Add to that some average 24h waiting time for pcr negative results. Add to that an average 20h intercontinental flight. That is total 114h and 4.5 days from when travellers start taking serious covid precautions as not to be caught in thailand 1st test. For omicron to develop into symptoms is only 48-72h. Of course, you can get virus absolutely everywhere - from a health official in thailand airport handling your entry application at close proximity, minibus driver blowing used air from his cabin into passengers section, receptionist at hotel while waiting some 5-10 minutes for check in, bell boy in the lift taking you to your room. By day 3-4 in thailand you can get covid symptoms from those very encounters, which are impossible to avoid. Each of those persons handles a hundred guests and mixes with general thai population at food courts, on public transport, at shops, markets and extended family living in common. Even if you lock yourself in the ASQ hotel for full 5 days, you can still be tested positive on the last day. As you, and so many others, I also had already omicron. Just for a very brief contact with a positive cousin. My insurance was depleted and paying an additional 90k cash for hospital bill is looming. Just because I happen to travel internationally
  22. so good response to pandemic, that the government had to charge opposition leader MP thanathorn with lese majeste for exposing huge fail of vaccination program. if not donated pfizer from the usa, sinovac from china and some AZ from the UK, Korea and Bhutan, expats in thailand would still be waiting until now for their first jab. many expats decided to get vaxed abroad, instead of waiting for dr A Nut In offering them any leftovers. Often at great expense of travel unvaccinated and quarantined for 14+14 days at special hotels. Some expats are refused any boosters, despite being in a risk group. Dr A Nut In has started already his election campaign a long time ago. It's the second time he boasted about thailand (and so him) being the best. His ego get boosted now with the former flower minister thammanat prompow being invited to join bhumjaithai party, chaired by the very dr A Nut in. With more defector MP's coming from the ruling PPP, his party might well be pivotal in the next government. Switching sides from an opposition to ruling coalition is nothing for marihuana mafia from buriram province.
  23. very related: "Exiled Former Police General Speak Out After 6 Years BANGKOK -- A former police general who fled Thailand to seek refuge in Australia after his anti-human trafficking works threatened his safety broke silence after more than six years on Saturday. In a video conference from Australia with Move Forward Party MP Rangsiman Rome and Progressive Movement member Pannika Wanich, Pol Maj Gen Paween Pongsirin who once led Thai police’s anti-human trafficking team, particularly on the trafficking of the Rohingya people, spoke of the joy of being able to talk about his fears publicly after he claimed that those at the very top echelon of Thai powers had a hand in the deadly Rohingya trafficking which treated human no better than animals. Things would have been different if Thailand was truly democratic and with an honest administration, he said. Paween said he fled Thailand in Nov 2015 after his investigation into mass graves at migrant camps was halted after five months by influential people in the government, including the military and police themselves. https://www.facebook.com/KhaosodEnglish/posts/5245709785447911
