  1. Where was that, and did you have to stay overnight or was it done on an outpatient basis? It seems that government hospitals require you to spend a night in the hospital (in Vietnam 2 nights),while all private hospitals ,in Thailand and Vietnam, let you go home the same day. I am trying to find an exception.
  2. Not quite. Massive street protests have resulted in the toppling of authoritarian regimes. Ask General Suchinda, who was toppled by street protests in 1992. Of course, this is a new generation of Thais, glued to their devices, Tiktok and their influencers, a lethargic nation. Also, it is not enough to just have a few thousand or tens of thousands demonstrating.Back then you had a million or more hitting the streets, paralyzing Bkk.It can be done, and it has been done. But maybe not with this generation.
  3. Well, my comment is ,of course, partly tongue in cheek. But only partly. Decades of living here have taught me, that there is one law for Thais ,who can be very litigious when it comes to their reputation/profit/face, and one for non-Thais. Thais suing farangs and fellow Thais for defamation is a common occurrence, so is violence in regard to loss of face. Never heard of a farang suing a fellow farang in Thailand for loss of face.
  4. Absolutely not. I have been to some really bad dentists in BKk and Pattaya in the distant past. Back then, I was a dental cheap charley. Having had really bad teeth all my life, something I inherited from my parents-bless them-I have spent more time in dental chairs than most of you. Run through dozens of dentists, some really bad ones among them,in half a dozen countries. I eventually settled on one in Pattaya, to which I have been going for 20 years. I also found a good one in Vietnam, where I have been spending most of my time in recent years.
  5. Sure, you can defame, insult fellow farangs to your heart's content. Do the same to Thais, especially influential Thais, and you are looking at hefty fines and a nice vacation in the slammer..
  6. Had lots of root canals and crowns down in Bangkok and Pattaya, and recently in Vietnam. In Pattaya it shouldn't be more than 12000 Baht for root treatment plus ceramic crown. They do professionel work in Vietnam, too.And it's significantly cheaper than Thailand. The crowns come with a warranty. The more expensive they are, the longer the warranty.
  7. Certainly quicker. I was at the Banglamung public hospital to ask about cataract surgery .Their "queue " is 2 years. I am not making this up. They referred me to a hospital in Sri Racha.
  8. No, it isn't. The target is farang, not Thai. So no defamation took place.
  9. For most of us ,with at least some brain cells left over, it is torture, but for the brainless Tiktok generation it seems to be delightful.
  10. But the fast majority of them stay out of the sun as much as possible, because the sun would make them "ugly".
  11. It's 300 Baht now. Used to be a 100, which at some border crossings had to be paid right next to a sign saying ,NOTHING TO BE PAID HERE.
  12. So Hat Lek is still the No one rip-off border crossing in Cambodia?Haven't crossed there in a while, but they used to take corruption to a whole new level, and would throw in a fair bit of moroseness .
  13. Not so sure Maybe not as a protection against air pollution, but there have been a number of medical studies showing the health benefits of Turmeric.
  14. If you took a peek, and were so unimpressed that you didn't look ,are you still a degenerate ,Dr.Freud. I am definitely not gay, and probably still alive.
  15. I used to regularly bike Khao Yai in both directions. I would Usually start out in Pak Chong, ride through the park to Prachinburi, spend a night in Prachinburi, and then ride back to Pak Chong. south to north might be somewhat easier, as the ascent to the Visitor Center ,although longer, is gentler. The steepest part is approaching the Center from the north .
  16. Most of them are completely asymptomatic. Won't even be aware of their infection.
  17. What about the hard and software in your skull. Falling a bit short in that department. Just like the orange retard.
  18. That ,of courses, can go the other way too.Currency markets, nowadays are very volatile.
  19. Of course, with all the loot he had accumulated in previous thefts. An accomplished "offerer of companionship".An experienced hugger and groper.
  20. How do you know they are getting wood? Seems an impossible task.
  21. Unfortunately, you are wrong on so many levels. The most racist of them all are the Thais themselves, especially towards their neighbors, but also towards farangs . I don't know whether there is something wrong with the brain itself, but there is certainly something wrong with their IQ and their reasoning abilities. IQ tests have shown consistently that their average IQ is significantly lower than the average of 100. It's also significantly lower in Isan than in BKK.That, of course, might be due to the educational system and poor diet, not the physical brain itself. Then there is the Thai social character, an exceptionally high preoccupation with losing and gaining face, and the increased aggression associated with it, resulting in a high rate of violent crime. A Buddhist country it is, but in name only. One of the foremost Buddhist monks, the late Buddhadasa Bhikku said exactly that about his compatriots. There might be nothing wrong with the Thai brain, but there is a lot of room for mental and characterological rewiring.
  22. Doubts??555 I have no doubts that this will be an abject failure. They have been announcing these measures for decades every New Year and every Songkran, and every single time it failed to make a dent .
