  1. One airline you definitely want to avoid when traveling with a bicycle is Turkish airline. Happened to a friend flying from Europe to Vietnam. Paid the sports equipment fee of 150 € 75 per leg, At the airport they told him the fee had just doubled .He had no choice but to pay an additional 150, or they would have refused to check in the bike. 4 weeks later, he arrived back home, but his bicycle did not. Was told that it was still in Istanbul. After 4 days calling Turkish Airline numerous times, the bicycle was finally dropped at his doorstep, totally wrecked. Turkish refused to pay compensation. Months later, he has hired a lawyer and gone the legal route. The lawyer is probably gonna cost him more than the cost of the bike, but he is mad as hell.
  2. I remember an exchange rate of 21 Baht to the$ in the eighties, no fluctuations back then ,as the Baht was pegged to the $, similar to what it is today in Cambodia, where the dollar has been around 4000 Riel for over 20 years.
  3. Probably depends on the size of the folding bike. Some of them fit into what from the outside looks like average sized suitcase.
  4. I flew Thai from Saigon to Bangkok a couple of years ago ,bicycle didn't cost me anything extra, was counted towards my luggage allowance. That was the last time I got away without boxing it up. Not many airlines left that do not require a box.
  5. The question is ,can you suffer from dementia when you never had much in the form of cognitive abilities to start with. What can lose when you have nothing?
  6. Honest question:What is your IQ ? Don't say higher than yours.I am willing to bet a tidy sum that it isn't.
  7. No, she will be arrested for playing bridge with her friends.
  8. You actually listened to 9 minutes of that drivel.I gave up after 1 minute of whatever that was.
  9. WHAT AVAILABLE RESTROOMS ??? They must be well hidden. I often do this ,because, other then peeing your pants or paying for one of these rip off beer bar toilets, that's the only option. It's a pee in the ocean ,literally.
  10. The 331 used to be called the highway of death when it was still 2 lanes, now with 4 lanes it doesn't feel that dangerous anymore. Same was true for the Chantaburi to Sa Kaeo highway. Most of it 4 lane now. Also way back, the road circling Koh Samui was very narrow, and with Southern Thais being the greatest speed freaks in LOS, it had a high fatality rate. Haven't been to Samui in 30 years, how is it now?
  11. Katoey please, Thailand is proud of having a unique breed of transgendered individuals, who proudly refer to themselves as Katoeys. It's an old tradition, there was a popular folk song about them in the eighties. respect thai culture and heritage😛
  12. Not cheap enough, they, with some perverted exceptions, probably prefer it some place where the wife is not watching.
  13. I was told by Wise that the limit for a couple of Thai banks, my bank Krungthai included, is 2000 USD.
  14. Exactly, Square face is the Supreme leader and supreme a..hole in this coalition. Amassing money and power is his only entertainment.
  15. Have you considered the possibility that there are untouchable enablers?
  16. What about people who have no income back home, but are just transferring their savings from home country to Thailand? How are they going to differentiate between income and "just having money "? I assume they won't.
  17. Yes , 3 Shinawatras kicked out of office 3 times by the military. Do these megalomaniacs ever learn from history?
  18. Wow,really. Never ever happened to me, or to any other" Asean" cyclists , that I know. Did you look like a "farang kee nok", or act suspiciously? 🤣
  19. I don't know about Canada., but in this region of the world they don't give a rat's a.. about a bicycle, new or old. I have been biking/flying back and forth for over 30 years in the Asean region ,they don't care at all. The only thing that has changed over the decades is, that while many airlines would accept unboxed bicycle, most, if not all ,require you to box it up now. A major hassle.
  20. Didn't know there were wild elephants in Chonburi province. Chantaburi yes, but in Chonburi ??
  21. When the generals themselves deny, yes. Here it was the "experts ". Nevertheless, they have been announcing for decades that Thailand has " moved on".
  22. Pre boiled, maybe. I have seen, and tried, packs of instant noodles, that said not fried on pack. That was in Vietnam. Rarely eat instant noodles in Thailand.
