I would like to move too, but would need to go the combination route, from discussions with people that have asked the question of my Immigration Office this option is a non-runner. Being married does not remove the difficulties in your partner accessing the funds after your demise it only lessens them to a degree, the banks are running scared of counter claims from your home country and will possibly need a court order even with a will.

This is where difficulty lies, if you apply 30 days early and have not complied with the increase to 800k at the correct time, yes your new 1 year extension is in jeopardy, but it is your current extension that will need to be adjusted accordingly, with the possibility of refusal to extend the current extension. This is why I believe Immigration will consider the "2 months before" as part of the financials of the current extension as well as the new application in this scenario.

Just Checking
foreverlomsak replied to FARANG KIWI's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
by that I assume you mean the 1341/66 which is from the register of extensions issued and said book does contain your personal info. -
My interpretation of the rules would be 1. They will want to know that you have complied with the financial requirements (that you agreed to) to obtain the existing extension, i.e. 800K for 3 months after, then 400k until required to increase to 800K 2 months before. Failure in this could mean that your existing extension requirements has not been met and your permission to stay could be cancelled, same as if you reduced below the 400K. 2. Now they will want to know what financial arrangements you are proposing for the new extension, i.e. 12 months of 65K deposits in the last year as proof of continuing income, this will be validated against your next application to make sure you complied. Yes, it doubles up for the one year, but legally you are signing up to comply with something in the future, and they need to ensure you have actually complied.

Never had a problem myself, but suggest you check with airline and country your flying to as to what they will accept. I remember many moons ago a friend almost lost a holiday to China, as the airline insisted the only type of luggage that they were able to accept, apparently due to Chinese regulations at the time, was the rigid Samsonite suitcases, she was only advised of this a few days before departure and nobody locally stocked them.

The demise of the village ATM.
foreverlomsak replied to Crossy's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Trying to ensure it isn't used much to give them the excuse to say it's underused and remove it. Let's try a conspiracy theory - it's all organized to make people move to crypto currencies, which just appears and disappears in the ether and you can never get a hold of it to know how much you've got, or not got, as they get revalued every day. -
The demise of the village ATM.

Does that mean I will need to go and get a new debit/ATM card, or will it still work until it's expiry date. -
or elsewhere other than the UK (not issued to addressees inside the UK - not needed as UK Death Cert is automatically reported to UK agencies)

DWP use City Bank to process payments to foreign banks, other than that I don't know. Payments via City Bank are subject to UK and US holidays hence delays of a few days. As has been said by others 16 days is far too long and probably means your payments have been suspended due to non-receipt of a Proof of Life Certificate, phone them ASAP.

E-Z Retirement Extension - Jomtien
foreverlomsak replied to Skeptic7's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Have never used Jomtien office, but have used 6 different offices and all were documents checked, stamps added to passport and signed off in one visit, no come back tomorrow, just as well as one (mandated by Immigration) office was a 10 hour round trip. -
Must be one hell of a interest rate if 1 month of 400,000 B deposit causes near panic. Would you be prepared to illuminate those in the dark of the bank, the type of account and the interest rate involved. I'm on retirement so would like to do something better for 7 months with 400,000 B plus I have more in a savings account that could be added.

Nong Ram beach upped farang price to 50 thb
foreverlomsak replied to EVENKEEL's topic in Eastern Thailand
Unlucky, about 10 years ago I must of got the "prize of the century". Drove the wife, our kids and some of the extended family to national park which had a water feature. Notice board showed prices per Thai, per Farang (times 3 if I remember correctly) and per car. OK I thought it's been a bit of a nightmare finding the place, I'll not rock the boat over my higher price. The gate attendant counted the Thai's, think it was 6 kids and 3 adults, plus car, XXX Baht, (OK here goes I thought), he looks at me and says "You take here, you Free". Gob-smacked, never happened anywhere else, in fact the mark-up in some other parks has been so high for me the wife has refused to go in. -
Air con not cold in Toyota Vios?
foreverlomsak replied to proton's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
17 year old PreRunner with same air-con problem, used a recommended back street place twice to clean and re-charge the system, everything OK when leave, after a couple of weeks, back to blowing warm air (it's cooler when I take air from outside the car than recirc inside). B#gg#r this I thought take it to Toyota they'll fix it while they look at the clutch, car was there for a whole day, then it was we need to order a part for the air con, bring the car back tomorrow, again another whole day (bill in excess of 40k including a new clutch plate). 2 months on back to where we started, intermittent cold air but mostly warm. Don't want to change the car it's only got 240k on the clock and mostly runs like a sewing machine, but beginning to think it's the only solution. -
Foreigners Rounded Up In Surat Thani Crackdown

Depends the grade of your hotel, with hotels like Landmark and Marriott, you book in they "swipe", your card and you pay when you leave. Quite easy to build up a large hotel bill and cancel your card before you leave.
