Surely if they are committing sex crimes they should be arrested, and it should not matter who carries out the arrest The reason that it does matter who makes the arrest is because an illegal arrest can result in the case being thrown out and police making arrests outside their jurisdiction (they actually don't do that) would be making unlawful arrests.

Not in Thailand where they have no jurisdiction, they don't. They can work with the RTP who are the only ones that can make arrests in Thailand or wait until the subject is back on US soil when they can make their arrest.

It was very clearly reported in the Op, as: 'He noted that the case is particularly troubling as some women involved were unaware they had been filmed or that the footage had been shared online.' And it was very clearly not reported as "...that could be to save themselves" as the poster to whom I responded claimed, which was the point of my response to his inaccurate assertion.
