  1. Good afternoon

Hope all is well.  Today I did the first step from SETV to Retirement by applying for a change of visa type.  I need to return on the 15th.

The stamp from IO starts the 60 day count of the funds from today and not when deposited (Aug 3).  Is this correct?

When my funds have been suitably aged for two months, what docs will I need to supply for the one year extension?  The same as todays or ....

    Thanks

  2. My experience today at Changwattana (SETV to Non-O retirement, first step)

This might be of interest to members who are doing their first retirement visa.

I had an online appointment for 10:30 At the counter which issues the tickets, she either didn't understand or didn't care about the appointment. In hindsight, I should have shown the email booking.

At Counter C there was an IO who was handing back passports and asking follow-up questions. She was unusually polite and respectful and so I mentioned that I had a booking (showed the email) and at the appointed time I was called.

I'm unsure if my appointment would have been called if I hadn't let the Counter C staff know.

I had signed all my copies but the IO stamped each page and got me to resign.

Today was a good day at Changwattana. Three from three IO were polite and respectful.

I'm back in 14 days for the next stage.

  3. Hi

I have a few questions specific to Changwattana.

This will be my first time to do this conversion.  Please don't comment if it's not based on recent personal experience at Changwattana.  I appreciate your eagerness to help but ....

My understanding is that Changwattana will accept 5.1 and 5.3 (See the regulations copied and pasted below) dated the day before, provided the bank book is updated (do a transaction first).  What was your experience?

I'm applying based on  ฿800,000 Retirement.

Also the regulations don't mention signed copy of the householders ID.  It says (see below).  Do Changwattana ask for a copy of the householders ID card?

    Thanks

Rental Agreement between the Applicant and the Landlord; A copy
of house registration. Location map of the house and a rental receipt

Baht 800,000 (all documents must be in the Applicant’s name)

  4. Hi

For the first time I will be doing the TM30 myself at Changwattana.  We rent our condo.  Its currently in my name.  Is there any benefit for the rental to be in my partner's name, wrt no needing signed copies from the Condo owners?

Do I need to make an appointment at Changwattana for the TM30?

    afaik I need the following

    1. copy (not original) of the Condo owners ID card, signed.
    2. copy (not original) of the Lease Agreement
    3. copy (not original) of the Condo owners House Document , signed
    4. TM 30 formed signed by whom?

anything else?   What happens if I lodge it a week after I come back?  Will there be a fine.

    Thanks

  6. Hi

In August I will be applying for my first Retirement visa in Bangkok at Changwattana..

Maybe if you have recently done a Retirement Visa, you may be able to assist me with a few questions.

    1. Present passbook and deposit certificate from banks in Thailand (in Thai language (Attention: Immigration Commissioner).  How recent does it need to be, same day or a week old?
    2. Which service (app) do you use to transfer the B800,000 into Thailand which shows the deposit as being from overseas?

Any other documents required at Changwattana (not your local Immigration Office)

    • Form TM.86
    • Copy of passport pages (for example, personal information page, last entries stamp, visa sticker and extension stamp (if any) and departure card (Form TM.6)
    • One photo
    • Passbook and deposit certificate from banks in Thailand (in Thai language (Attention:
    • Immigration Commissioner))
    • Copy of all entries of the applicant’s passbook showing that the applicant has a savings or fixed deposit account of not less than Baht 800,000 (all documents must be in the Applicant’s name)
    • Evidence of foreign currency fund transferred to Thailand
    • Rental Agreement between the Applicant and the Landlord; A copy of house registration. Location map of the house and a rental receipt Past three month
  7. Hi

I'm here at kanchanaburi for a short break.  The air quality is extremely poor.  Eyes, throat and nose.  Air is so bad I'm heading home to BKK tomorrow.

I'm posting just in case a reader was planning a short holiday in this region.

  8. To help others, if you are at an immigration centre this week, maybe you can share your own observations and what stamp you eventually had in your passport too?
