  1. Pretty much any Win motorbike taxi.
  2. Exactly this. The nutter pulled a knife. If I was a betting man (which I am, but not in Thailand), I'd wager it was a knife he was carrying. Crazy, but also sadly not surprising, that some here are sticking up for the Win muppet.
  3. In this country, logic tells me that should be impossible. However, I'm often wrong.
  4. Specifically targeting families eh? 4 bullets. Total cost less than 50 baht. Job done. If convicted of course.
  5. Used to be into all of that, especially when first moving to Win8 and then when the lovely "Metro" came into windows. I remember remoting onto one of my servers running an early server edition release and was created with a "Touch The Screen To Start" message.... Anyway, I kind of grew out of them (not meant to be condescending even though it probably sounds like it). Most of the new windowy things I get used to and even prefer after only a few weeks / months. The only exclusion to this for Win11 is the new right-click context menu. Having an extra click for "Edit with Notepad++" or even Copy and Paste does my head in (CTRL-C and CTRL-V not always usable in RDP sessions). Typically the full app from the camera manufacturer, assuming it's not too bloated. I've stuck with Logitech and their "Pro" range of webcams for many years and the Logitech Capture app gives me all I need.
  6. Buying a sex doll? Hmmm ok, but probably best not to tell anyone. Buying a second hand sex doll? Hmmm whatever floats your boat (no thanks) and definitely best not to tell anyone. We're in Thailand. The real thing plus a roll of duct tape can cost significantly less than a doll.
  7. I suspect it's possible, but you're making it much harder to sell the leasehold. The obvious questions is, why such a hang-up on one tree? If it's that precious to you there are ways to transplant even pretty large trees to a new location (ie your own yard).
  8. I suspect she may be harbouring a nasty gash.
  9. I tried to print out the instructions for the app and it said first to Control-P. I've not been able to do that for years so sod it. (Thank you Mr Gary Delaney)
  10. You didn't read the full sign. It said: "No Guns, No Drugs, No one under 20 years old? You can get them all here."
  11. You mean the large organisation HE was protecting. You and the others were doing sweet FA. Not one ounce of embarrassment from you for basically writing that you're a scrounging lazy waste of time?
  12. Perhaps they burn them up north, although that would make the air quality awful.
  13. He's a small man or that's a 'kin huge plate.
  14. Same as shopping for insurance. New customers get the best deals. Change provider to one of the many others that advertise all over YouTube (eg SurfShark) or one of the others (eg. HMA). Change every year if you need to. They all offer fundamentally the same service, often on the same infrastructure.
  15. I think it must all be part of some reality TV show that is only broadcast to Thais, with a title along the lines of "See how easy it is to wind up the Falang". I think this because: 1.) As a western foreigner living in Thailand legally on a long term basis you typically MUST interact with them in one way or another at least 5 times per year. 2.) In addition to those 5 occasions, any time you need to gain / renew a license, buy or sell a motorbike, car, house etc, you must interact again. 3.) Catch 22 is king. Try to get a visa and you are told you must have a bank account. Try and get a bank account and you must have a visa. 4.) It is possible to queue for 3 hours, finally reach a gatekeeper and be told they are closed, come back tomorrow and expect people not to be aggranoyed. 5.) It is possible to ask a single, well worded, apt question and be instantly shouted at. 6.) Hearsay and foreign forums (such as this) are a better place to learn specific document requirements than their own actual publications, which either don't exist or are woefully under-worded (eg the map, the family photos etc). 7.) They will occasionally hire a "fixer" to confuse everyone even more. eg in January there was a tiny Thai man that would pop out of the exit and shout in heavily accented English "Not Waiting Visa" over and over. Most people who went up to him and asked a question were met with a more direct "Not Waiting Visa" shouted at them. When it would be ludicrously clear to anyone that what he was shouting was confusing anyone, the response was so huff, puff and shout the same thing again. 8.) No sane person would try and reduce the length of queues by requiring an individual to queue multiple times instead of once. There are some fine folk working inside the office who somehow offer an amazing service. The lady (and now some of her newer colleagues) on desk 6 is a great example. If a service that you are forced to use is only made bearable by paying a significant premium (often at least 500% the real cost) to a 3rd party then there are some fundamental issues that need fixing. Or, it's a TV reality show.
  16. It does in the linked article and is pretty clear from the video.
  17. Slightly misleading title. They are stopping support for older versions of IOS, MacOS, TV OSs and watches. If your device's OS can be upgraded then you'll still be able to use the services. Phones like the iPhone 5 WILL be affected, but that is more than 10 years old. If you're still using an iPhone 5 then you were never a target customer of Apple anyway. Most OS providers drop support after a time. I dislike Apple for a multitude of reasons but this isn't one of them.
  18. Having a job at Jomtien immigration probably wasn't the smartest move they could make then. Someone who has an immediate aversion to a decent percentage of their every day customer base shouldn't be in a public facing position. When knowing what 'greng jai' or 'boon koon' mean is a requirement of a visa then maybe you'll have a point.
  19. It says she appealed AFTER the sentence was reduced to 10 years. ie it implies she was (quite rightly) not happy with the reduction.
  20. Looks like he smashed the glass door too. That'll be a few 1000 baht. EDIT: On second looks that seems to be liquid rather than broken glass.
  21. That video is 7 years old and he died 2 years ago.
  22. I don't really have a problem with it. Such sites / posts are easy to skip. It's reasonably easy to tell what's a scam or what might be something that floats your boat and you may want to support. Social media has just made it easier for an individual to reach a mass audience where previously it required a huge team effort with lots of $$$ upfront. I see YouTube as something along the same lines. Initially I thought it was full of pointless wannabee "influencers" that weren't worth a moment of my time (and there is absolutely plenty of that), but over time and with an open mind I've come across many channels that put out fantastic content (such as Technology Connections as just one example). I've been involved with a major business behind the clipboard warriors that you see at shopping malls, asking to you save dogs, save the children, help the aged, cure cancer and many other worthy causes. In doing so I see the vast amount of overhead that these businesses add, and the small percentage of your money that actually goes to the real cause (but don't let that stop you donating). If the GoFundMe type sites allow just a handful of people in real need raise funds for a worthy goal with much less overhead than the main stream alternatives then I think that's a good thing. Nobody is forcing anyone to donate to anything that they don't want to.
