I lived in Chanthaburi for about a year while maintaining a condo in Jomtien where I had the TM30 registered. It was a royal pain in the butt. Chanthaburi immigration refused any and all services except one re-entry stamp. I closed out the Jomtien place and moved all my stuff to Chanthaburi and registered as such, but can't wait until I'm done with this place. Complain all you want about Jomtien IO, they're many times better than Chanthaburi.

I've told this story before, and here is one more time - I got sick of Thailand, moved to Mexico, and was back in six weeks. As far as going back "home," I visit family & friends in the US once or twice a year and am reminded why I don't live there any more. Bored I can tolerate, US BS I can't.

Did you ask the folks I pointed you towards what they would charge just to double check your passport package? I'm sure they wouldn't charge the whole figure I quoted you if you explain you just want someone to help get you through the goal posts of success here.

Be careful about option 5. I DON'T REMEMBER WHERE I SAW IT, but I thought one of the requirements was to obtain a money order to cover the cost of them returning the passport through the mail because they were no longer accepting self-addressed postage paid envelopes. Double and triple check that last bit.

Since you're imposing your unasked for comment, allow me retort. I have a civil service pension and income from real estate investments. The money I earn is inconsequential. Last year I bought six 55-inch monitors for the school, and just yesterday I donated a small but powerful laptop. I teach cuz I love it. Without this gig, I'd most likely be sitting on a bar stool, nursing a half empty beer at 11:00 a.m. Maybe YOU should find something positive to occupy your time?

This is EXACTLY why I have remained single in LOS. I tried for a year to establish a long term relationship and realized the cultural differences are too far great to make this possible for me. Since then, I rent rather than own. We all know what the score is, everyone gets what they want and go home happy.

What sold me was taking my package to them, they saw immediately that I had the wrong pictures. As we don't name and shame, I won't say exactly which shop screwed me. When I had them taken, I specifically asked for US photos, and they gave me two that obviously weren't the ones we usually give to immigration. Turned out they were UK photos. That meant I would have wasted all the time shipping to the US, just to have it sent back. WELL worth using the service.

I almost got shamed by know-it-alls into doing my passport renewal myself. "It's easy" they said, "Do it yourself" they said.
