  1. StarLink ... OK, not here yet, but neither is the 'end of days' No internet ... just imagine, people would actually interact in person. Racism and prejudice would be gone, as no MSM to divide the masses.
  2. Not necessarily, and we are talking about an ebike. Easily and inexpensively replaced. And thankfully EV vehicles, if meaning cars, batteries last for 1000+ cycles, as long or longer than ICEVs. As BritMan2 states, a lot more info needed to assist. Especially the battery itself, bike & specs all around. Price point means quite a bit, when buying electronics. Sometimes you get what you pay for. My 1st test battery was cheap & crap, didn't last long, but was no surprise for the price.
  3. hmm ... GF ... is 'NO' not in your vocabulary. If not ... Google 'Ex-girlfriend'
  4. I don't trust anything any more, coming from US Govt, FDA, CDC, or any other acronmym. Think ... covid & vaccine ... nuff said Along with, these highlighted words ... some high drama, until and if, anyone reads the last sentence of the news-blip ... "Popular cooking oils used in ultra-processed Western diets may be causing a surge in colon cancer cases, a new US government-led study has shown. Unhealthy seed oils like sunflower, grapeseed, canola, and corn could trigger chronic inflammation in the body, the groundbreaking research found." ... So, is the 'hydrogenated; oil, or the unhealthy diet of ultra processed foods, people shouldn't eat, with all the other ingredients, most can't pronounce, along with the abundance of sugar & oils added. That 'may' or 'could' trigger ... ??? 80 whole people examined ... Did you read more than the headline ... the common sense part of the news-blip ... ... "if your body is living off of daily ultra-processed foods, its ability to heal that wound decreases due to the inflammation and suppression of the immune system that ultimately allows the cancer to grow.โ€ Did you miss this part ... ... "But top US health institutions have clarified that consuming moderate amounts of seed oils as part of a balanced diet has not been shown to cause cancer." So the headline is completely false and misleading, click bait. Seed oil has nothing to do or linked to cancer, just the over indulgence of ultra processed foods. That uncommon common sense should kicking in with most people, and that is common knowledge now.
  5. Probably because most people have 1 phase electric at the house. Auto maker supplied Wall box charging cables (7+kWh) work fine with 1 phase, as does the emergency/granny charging cables (2+kWh). If charging overnight, more than enough for most folks daily driving needs. Easily adding 100-150 kms daily overnight.
  6. That should keep, him/her/it fit, and all one would need is a fishing rod. Catch a few extra to barter with. Desalinizing water is easy enough. We have bout 17k liters of rain water at end of rainy season, since last week's rains, more forecast. 100 liters a day, for 170 days, till rains start again, mid May (5 months / 150days).
  7. No prob ... ... though I really to worry about all these imaginary what if threads
  8. 3 - 5g of Creatine a day in my kefir/blueberry smoothie, last test results. Safe amount exiting, so assuming I'm not OD'ing be taking that amount of supplement. Don't take any supplements on weekends (2 days) let body use or flush any excesses, if any. I only take a multi (1/2), Magnesium, Creatine.
  9. Energy ... no prob Food ... no prob ... need to finish the chicken coop, w/8 chickens. maybe more to barter with, as cash may be useless. Plenty more protein out there ... ... note to self ... buy damn fishing rod & net Transportation ... no prob
  10. Global EV sales hit third consecutive record high Dec 13 (Reuters) - Global sales of fully electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles rose for a seventh consecutive month in November, jumping 32% year on year for a third consecutive record high, data from market research firm Rho Motion showed on Friday. China continued to lead sales growth, accounting for almost 70% of total EV sales in the month, while registrations in Europe showed a marginal decline. WHY IT'S IMPORTANT The electric car market is undergoing critical transformation as incremental demand and production in China threaten EV markets elsewhere. Europe, for instance, is struggling to contend with production costs, new emissions targets and the rising competition.
  11. My devices themselves, on 1 battery, don't think any would last longer than a few hours, if that, if used. One reason we have solar and BEVs. A solar generator and panels, could solve the basics, but they're not cheap. Actually about same price as small solar system if DIY. @swissie If a permanent outage, as in post above, then they would be useless immediately, since everything runs on electric.
  12. Not on the 'list of controlled narcotics', although I don't know how inclusive that is. along with 3+ years old.
  13. Just added to 'that list' ... as I really can't tolerate them any more "EVs in TH" ... UK & EU info
  14. I'm the opposite mindset, as I enjoy living here, as not much, if anything has changed. Marriage, support of Thai national, and lastly retirement visa & extensions have all gotten easier, in that order. Tax burden hasn't changed at all, VAT @ 7%. Housing cost haven't risen much, compared to home country (USA). Actually the crappier it is there, the better here for me, since COLA is based on inflation there. They're BS and low, but seems to offset inflation here a bit. Exchange rate has bee consistent, 33+/- to $1, the last 15 ish years. Much more relaxed here, no PC, no special interest groups, no silly new pronouns, don't need to worry about offending anyone. Not really seeing the negatives other experience. A good partner helps, but didn't have any problems when single and playing single parent.
  15. Also don't mean smuggling, but some, may carry some en-route, and if not extremely careful, end up in a lot of trouble, country dependents.
  16. All depends how you present yourself to any 'officials'. Appearance, attire, behavior means a lot. For someone to even ask how to travel stoned, screams ignorance and not knowing how to do it responsibly. My caution was for any idiots that haven't a clue. Plenty of news-blips of those folks, some attracting attention, others not so much, and maybe having med in a container that shows up on x-ray. Keep on person, in plastic bag, so not to set of scanner while walking through, and nothing bulky of course. I'm not really big on recommending illegal activity to people I don't personally know. I assume they are idiots for asking, so will error on the side of caution & warning, not to be an idiot....politely
  17. < 2 is good, lower better. Be nice to get the HDL 50+
  18. City ... not so much ... Area ... yes, can be, location dependent. Some nice spots along the rivers.
  19. Assuming your HDL is around 50-60, then that's good ratio TG/ HDL, as < 2 is good. Puts you around 1.5 ratio (81 รท 55 = 1.47). Mine now is about 1:1 (69 / 68), been a ratio as high as 3+ in the past, and got it down to 2.5, then 2, now 1, the past 4 years. Since going a Keto-ish diet. Same with BP, of 140+ down to consistent < 120 now, usually 110-115 at rest.
  20. Apparently sooner than later ๐Ÿ˜Ž 3kWh per ... 100% in 3 hours ๐Ÿ‘
  21. Oh contraire ... as I quite enjoy it Beef w/noodles .. or Crispy Pork Belly w/noodles. Not a rice fan
  22. Going to be one of those days. Just now 1050 hrs, starting to produce a wee bit. About 3 hours later than usual. Do have the one AC on, and draw is minimal, 264w, for whole house, 13k BTU (at temp 29C) and 2 frigs. Bedroom comfy, low RH, and not even using fan. ESSs @ 45%, and hopefully back to 100% before nightfall. Everything charged up, plenty of leftovers in frig, so no cooking needed. Off & on rain, so wife won't be welding outside. Shy of 1 kWh going to ESS, and 6 hrs will only bring it up to ~75%. Clouds should break sooner or later ๐Ÿ™„ Low use day unless we get some full on sun. Guess we'll just have to hang out in the bedroom
  23. This post might be handy for folks passing through PKK province (below Hua Hin), if needing a munch, and or topping up EV, (@ P2N or Tesla @ Garage Cafe). https://aseannow.com/topic/1345367-living-in-thailand-is-very-cheap/page/9/#findComment-19444123
  24. If passing through the area, that one linked is convenient either direction, as u-turns aren't to far away. Good if not wanting to leave the main road (#4). Surfside is close enough if wanting to chill there. But if in a hurry ... plenty of roadside places that serve decent food, and no rip off prices. Further south, there's P2N Restaurant, and they seem to own or lease most of the Bangchak plaza, which does have PEA CS. Food is decent and reasonably priced. Just off Hwy #4, a favorite of ours, 'Ban Jib @ Ban Krut', and partial to the Chicken Green Curry w/Roti (a bit spicy). Lovely setting behind the cafe part, which they move forward for some reason. If not venturing further, you'd miss all those photo opts Even further south, near PKK & Chumphon border, 'Garage Cafe Chumphon' has reasonably priced tasty food also. Along with being a Tesla charging station.
