  1. That's awesome, too bad it wasn't available in EV. 100 years of Brit Dynamics .... how can you go wrong
  2. POA ... Power of Attorney, although that would be hard to use if 'wanting permission' from someone who is mentally not right. Usufruct for you, and land office shouldn't transfer property without you signing off. Or if for 'use & modify', any buyer wouldn't be able to use it, as still under your control. Add a 3rd party lease to it, and it's even more powerful.
  3. They can and they could if they managed their finances better, Thais & expats, and were practical in the purchases & lifestyle. I've lived a poor & meager life almost my whole life, in the USA, with some exceptions, compared to my peers. OK, I splurged a lot, but always with pocket money, not borrowed. Only owned ! new vehicle. Never lived in a stand alone house, by myself or with GF/wife. Had a 4 bedroom detached house, but made it a triplex. That and other houses (row houses) in crap neighborhoods, were investments. Where friends and family would never live, as they need to impress their friends and family, by barely living within their means. Got to have that new car (financed), every 3 years. I bought 1, and it was a work truck, and entry level at that. Any and all extra funds, went into investing into my future, not spending on the present. Didn't want for anything, but didn't waste money trying to impress people. Got to retire at 45, and impressed myself. Now here, I still play the long game. Don't rent, wasted money. Our solar & EVs save us over 85k a year in electric & petrol costs. Having solar & EV is money well spent. How many expats here have a new big ol' truck or 4X4,or SUV they don't need. Or drink 6 large beers every night. What's that, knocking on 70-80 baht a bottle X 6 = 400-500 baht. Times 30 day, hmm, sounds like the cost of an entry solar system if saved for a year. Assuming in house, and not from the barstool. I've never needed a car while living in TH, and a scooter would have sufficed. That's 10k baht a month, for the privilege of owning a new car. Daughter just bought, and 20 or 30% down and payment will still be 15k a month/4 years. But she needs, along with <2% interest, almost free money rate as inflation is higher. Wise use of other peoples money. People need to learn, "if you can't pay cash, you can't afford it". You don't borrow money for things that depreciate. "The percentage you're paying is too high priced While you're living beyond all your means And the man in the suit has just bought a new car From the profit he's made on your dreams"
  4. If you have ESS/battery back up. We do, and sleep in AC comfort, under the covers We use 6-8kWh over the non producing hours, ~1800-0800 hrs.
  5. Some circumstances dictate being there. Although more than enough info now, if researching to avoid being stuck in heavy air pollution. 24 years ago, not sure what info available, as I didn't look for it ... oops But once there, due to my own circumstances, couldn't leave Udon Thani area till wee one was done high school. Yea, then we were gone rather quick. Actually had a place rented below Hua Hin, before she even graduated There 16 years longer than I wanted to be, but got away 3 months of the year. Air purifiers & ACs, just adapt and make the best of it. Daughter stuck in Krung Thep area for now, as that's where the money is.
  6. A lot more than you think, obviously. Our installer is putting in at least 2 systems a week, and works non stop. Probably the same peasants (really ?) driving around in ฿2-3-4M vehicles, that don't live in a one room apartment / condo, and sit on the barstool all day.
  7. For our system, less than 40-45m² of roof. Panels are ~2m² each, and we have 18 X 540w that will generate 9.7kWh, and Inverter will put out 8.8kWh at peak sun/performance. They have better panels, at least 640w, I think, and posted here somewhere, so would need a few less for same.
  8. That's using way too much of that uncommon common sense Why a tropical country doesn't have solar on every rooftop is mind boggling ... ... never mind, I know why
  9. Not really and we do it with no problem, with just an 8kW system. Plenty of excess for the EVs while still abusing the hell out of the ACs. Using 1000kWh a month ... no problem. When crappy weather, overcast, and not quite enough for the house & car, we would just take the E-MB. Haven't really needed to yet. Others have larger systems, and if conservative with the ACs, could probably get by with a 5kWh system, although we couldn't. Ours is just big or small enough, for a couple crappy days of weather. Haven't needed the grid since installed.
  10. Can also be used in hand gun...and yes, small but dangerous, as usually don't stop till they hit something.
  11. If needing to even ask this query, then you should lease/rent (elsewhere, NOT family owned) or buy a condo. In reality, the lease and any other paperwork is useless, if all goes tits up, and they don't want you living there. If going forward, with usufruct & POA, then still only invest in what you can walk away with. POA is 'power of attorney' so you can sell the land, without her even at land office, as she has already given you that right. RENT OR BUY CONDO
  12. That new tax enforcement would eat up any gains ... 20% or more when bringing in. Just 20% would bring it right back down to actually below where we are now: 43 - 20% = 34.4
  13. The damn expanding HiSo & middle class using their ACs ... That greenhouse effect from pollution doesn't help any. High AQI & PM2.5 numbers forcing high temps ... ... just a coincidence, I think not But hey, blame everything on the fake climate change, and you can tax everything The do gooders don't care, as they have solar and drive EVs Help save the energy for all you other people who need it GOD helps those that help themselves ... or so I'm told
  14. If I was to be famous for something, I don't think it would be for something good, unfortunately Why I could never talk to a shrink ... they'd commit my A$$ and throw away the key
  15. I will celebrate big time, when all 3 crap out, and pray there is a HELL
  16. 21.5 & 31.5 kWh a month is quite a lot, for being very conservative with your use. When we first got solar, new house, we were conservative, sort of, on AC use, at least. The rest normal; electric components in kitchen (2 frigs). gas hob (my preference unless baking), and fans if no AC running. We averaged 33kWh a day last month (April 2024),and I'd consider our use extremely abusive with AC use & EV. So just a tad more than your usage. House new & well built, insulated, extended roof shading, and minimal wall exposure to sun. But after first couple months, stopped being conservation, as simply wanted to know how little we could get by with, and still be comfortable. Here's our usage for following year, 2023, and except for March, April, May & August, we used the same as you are, but very abusive with the AC's (two; 13&24k BTU inverters), and 65" TV/monitor for laptop on most of the day/16+hrs. Only 4 months did we use much more than 20kWh a day, AND, we have an EV. Is your house & AC units older ? Some ceiling insulation, )R+37/38) if not having already, would go a long way to help cooling your AC'd room. Here's our use being conservative, 2022, and we got the EV, on 30th of Oct 2022: August we were exporting for 2 weeks, so that's artificially high (production). Sept & Oct normal conservative use without the EV.
  17. @Photoguy21 Along with so many other BS vids and op-eds/opinion pieces passed off as news. From stretching the truth, omitting half the fact, to simply flat out lies and false BS. It is tiring replying to some of the stupidity posted, but we do, for those that might actually have an interest in EVs. For what ever reason. That for most of us, is simply a better performing vehicle, with hopefully less headaches, maintenance, and less cost to operate and maintain. We drive 20k kms a year, and if they were all local kms, that would cost over 55k baht, at today's price of petrol 91. Since I owned both version of our MG ZS (ICEV & EV), nobody can dispute those #s. We have Solar, so that cost is almost -0- using excess solar. If we used PEA for all our charging, that would cost <13k vs 55k baht, @5 baht a kWh, which is over estimating that cost. For discussing, as I posted, ICE vs EV, well there's a thread for that, and great place to post the comedic anti CH & EV BS. This thread is more about, what's available or coming. Hence the title "EV in TH".... TH...TH... TH, not China, not the UK, not the grid or charging stations outside of TH. Not the laws, mishaps, insurance, battery repair/replacement cost outside of TH Not what your 3rd cousin's friend's boss told him about his Uncles EV, 10 years ago, and what a POS it was. Vanilla Chocolate Strawberry ... BEV, Hybrid, ICEV ... options about ENJOY
  18. As stated earlier, no real need to be 'off' the grid, as only cost 27 baht to have, JIC. But if I had redundancy with 2 inverters instead of one, doubt if I'd stay connected. 2 reasons for solar ... I posted today ... Last year / 2023, saved 34.8k baht w/Solar vs PEA https://aseannow.com/topic/1268214-solar-8kw-hybrid-inverter-w10kwh-upgraded-to-20kwh-in-sept-2022-essbattery-not-diy/page/10/#comment-18881804 Petrol would cost me 55k baht a year (20k kms of local driving) with today's 91 price of 39.28 baht per Liter. https://aseannow.com/topic/1246109-ice-vs-ev-the-debate-thread/page/56/#comment-18882728 34.8 55 ฿89.8k ... direct savings from having solar ฿445k ... cost of Solar system = <5 year ROI
  19. News- blip implying Thais may be displaced from Myanmar soon .... Got to love the photo though in the news-blip Couldn't start a new thread in TH News https://thethaiger.com/news/national/thai-navy-on-standby-for-potential-myanmar-evacuations-amid-escalating-conflict-2 RTN prepares for Myanmar evacuation amid conflict "The directive came from RTN Chief Admiral Adung Pan-Iam, who has instructed the Region 3 commander to prepare two frigates, HTMS Saiburi and HTMS Prachuap Khiri Khan, and two landing ships, HTMS Saiburi and HTMS Mattaphon, for potential evacuation operations."
  20. Already stated above, his vids have been debunked before
  21. Another day, more petrol price increases, more saving owning an EV Knocking on ฿40 a liter 😲
  22. China or all things Chinese from that youtuber. I'm all for free speech & expressing one's opinion, but not constant lying about most things EV. He's a joke and can't believe anyone wastes their time viewing anything of his, after you realize they're so false. I'm always happy to entertain ...
  23. Especially from the ultimate CH hater, who puts out false vids over & over. He has no credibility in anything he posts. They're not even good for laugh. @Photoguy21 please post that crap on the ICE vs EV thread ...
