Thailand's EV Industry Faces Challenges Amid Subsidy Concerns - video
KhunLA replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Together 18+ years, and I'm 70 soon. Don't think she's going anywhere, and TBH, could care less, as long I get the dog. I have a usufruct anyway, so I doubt if I'd be going anywhere. Marriage #4, and do you think I worry about little things like a relationship ending ... I would just rent one of my daughter's houses. It's only money -
They probably all report & quote the same source. They have to build the cars here, but no sure if they have to sell them here. Sure the bean counters will run the numbers, as I don't think the Thai factory is just for domestic sales anyway. The EV Hub thingy.

I wouldn't put too much stock in Thai news, especially Thaiger and BP ... IMHO

Thailand's EV Industry Faces Challenges Amid Subsidy Concerns - video

Ford Ranger Raptor 3.0 V6 ... 0 - 100 kph - 6 secs The MG ZS EV ... 0 - 100 kph - 8.2 seconds, in smooth peaceful quiet comfort. With the AC on. Now, repeat after me, 1 thousand, 2 thousand, and now we're both at 100 kph, and I'm 2 secs behind you. Actually, I stopped at 90 kph ... is that a sped camera up ahead ? MG ZS EV price ฿599k or ฿829k after the promo. Congrats to you, for paying ฿1,949,000, and you win, for only about ฿1M, to get there about 2 secs before me Put that in perspective, contract to build our house was ฿1.1M on land that cost ฿76k. So you have a truck, that can also do 90 kph, and I have a SUV that can 90 kph also & a house, for the same price. Let that sink in, take as long as you need. Don't hurt yourself. -
Actually everything. Once the little war is over, and especially if the govt incentives end or aren't passed on the consumer, they'll all be raising their prices back to before the war. EV will be selling for original MSRP, or close to. With that, 2nd hand cars will be going up in price. The insured value of our MG ZS EV when first purchased was based on MSRP, without incentive of 240k baht. 1.189M baht vs 949k baht (purchase price). Insured value was 960k, 11k more than purchase price Same when we renewed the first year, just before the price war, and insured value again, was about same price of new ZS EV. 👍 Renewed couple months ago, and discount price of ZS EV (though never heard or read anyone actually buying one) was 599k, and new full price, was 829k, w/incentive. New insured value, dropped to 590k. Based on new price, with incentive now, depreciation now a bit more normal. about 15% a year. If new ZS EV went back to original MSRP of 1M plus, and no incentives, then 2nd hand prices would also go up. I would think. That should be across the board, ICEV & EV, as now less completion, so ICEVs would also get a boost. Our 2020 ZS (ICE) was 695k. In theory ... Incentives won't last forever, and they can't afford the price war for ever, as they can't be making much profit at these price. Especially the ICEVs, as still getting hit with excise tax, which runs about 25% of the car value, before added on.

Boasting ... really ? If that went over your head, you understand why I didn't try to explain anything to you, maybe. BYE BYE
-
Feel free to look through the 20k replies that I already replied to trolls with. Or ... Yea, you're correct, I overpaid for a POS BEV, that doesn't perform as good as the ICE version, and cost a lot more to operate and maintain, than the ICE version, while it destroys the planet and abusing them child laborers. I apparently have more money than common sense. You won the discussion, so have a beer, or a <deleted>, and use those tissues next to the keyboard. ENJOY, glad I was here for you. Have a victory smoke
-
Was also going to suggest the VS, as would give you the same performance as ZS EV (0-100 ~8 secs), along with much better fuel consumption, ~24 kpL vs ~14 kpl (ZS ICE) More choices, so you need to prioritize, what matters most.
-
Better things to do than try to explain something to someone who wouldn't understand it. Have a nice day
-
False (relative), false & false Have a nice day
-
Roojai will be half that price, if not more.
-
#1 ... performance, without even trying Example: MG ZS 0-100 kph ... ICE ~12 secs ... BEV ~8 secs Not only quicker, but smoother & quieter
-
Nah, me neither ... but, if I was in a foreign country, and being thrifty, know my time their will be short, then maybe. I'm use to the performance, and I couldn't go back to putt putt around in a ICEV. Being thrifty and playing the long game, it will pay for itself in petrol saving and maintenance hassles, expense. Having solar makes it a no brainer for us. I'd be an idiot not to have a BEV
-
@Yodarapper I know you're leaning toward an EV now, but I just passed the MG dealer, and had their MG ZS (ICE) promo on display, and have to say, I'd be buying one at ฿559k. Especially since you'll only be here for 3 ish year, I think said. By then the price wars should be over, and even the EV govt incentives maybe, which means when reselling, should get a nice price. No wall charger hassle. No entertaining the kids at CS (charging station), as I think you work, so you'll be traveling O&A on weekends and long weekends, when everyone else is, so I'd expect Qs at the CS. Since I'm one of the EV fanboys, that's saying quite a bit from me.

Need to go to tropical dermotolgist, make sure it's not the Thai version of recluse spider. ... "brown recluse spiders, also known as Mediterranean recluse spiders, have been found in Thailand" ... @BritManToo

It wasn't too bad, and decent time killer. The fight scenes, few physical one there were, were fairly realistic. First against 2 other females, which don't want to give it away, but she actually lost that one. Another was quick against a man, far from a muscle head, and also quite realistic. Gun scenes are silly, especially the one. Plot line has a twist as spy thrillers do. Nothing spectacular, but not bad either. Nice change, slight, from the zillion cop/detective shows. Are you saying cute women can't be intelligent ? And size, isn't as important in a fight as intelligence and experience. Plenty of martial art fighters take out boxer larger then themselves.

Biden Administration Weighs Preemptive Pardons Amid Trump’s Return
KhunLA replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Lying to Congress, sending the country into economic downslide, ruining families, incomes, businesses closing, mandates enforced, people losing jobs, can't attend school, pushing experimental drugs of people ... ... and Trump is the corrupt bad guy for the USA -
No, they can't, and neither could you. What visa do you think you'd qualify for, or do you plan on spending 2-3-4 month budget on an agent to skirt the law ? Better to be a bum in your home country. Get a cup, and stand on the corner, or next to an ATM, as I hear it's a good income. Better than working for some. Rent a kid to sit next to you to maximize your income.

Charging for services in Thailand - increasing the prices?
KhunLA replied to OneMoreFarang's topic in General Topics
Guess that is location dependent, as we can't find anyone for < 400 a day, maybe even 500, as haven't asked the wife how much she pays lately. They keep coming back, so must be enough, and not sure I'd want to pay anyone less than 400 or 500 anyway. Barely enough to live on as it is, if not 3 generations in one house. -

People do show quite a bit of ignorance when it comes to EVs. With the anti EV propaganda, it's not a surprise. AN is a fine example, as some folks simply being a wee bit ignorant, and understandable, to downright stupid, and or, anti EVs, with no knowledge or at least good research of the facts. EV owners on AN, point out the pros & cons. If one does the research, and thinks for themselves, listen to owners of, then a decision to buy or pass, should be easy. Much of it, is country dependent also. Personally, I would stick with the major producers, in TH, with a bit of track record, and dealer network; MG (bias of course) BYD GWM Your post alone shows some of the ignorance, especially about BEVs. Charging & fires, seriously, as if not debunked enough on AN for TH. Yet, like yourself, repeat what you read & hear, based on no facts. I guess you'll keep buying overpriced, underperforming vehicles -
Price range is good for something to learn on, though it won't have a good camera. Minimum price for a decent camera with 3 axis gimbal would be in the 6k - 8k range, with GPS for stabilization. GPS almost required, which will keep from crashing or losing in the wind, but not very good for learning how to operate. Really don't need to be that skilled, with GPS. I have 2 inexpensive photo / vid drones, and they were 6500 & 7800, I think. One has a slightly better camera (Sony) and the other handles high winds a bit better. Capt Drone is a good YT channel for searching new stuff. MJX (Bugs 16) is a good brand, as is ZLL (SG906 Beast Pro 2) , and the ones I have now. Actually on my 6th MJX, I think. I've had mine for a few years, so don't know what's current, and the change quite often, upgraded & discontinued. With that thought, buy combo package with extra batteries, if buying.

Those prices are a bit eye watering. How long do you plan on living here, as thought it was just a for years. If 3 or 4 yrs, you're talking 10k a year, just to be able to charge your car. Didn't even pay for electric yet, which is minimal. If using slow charger that comes with car, 9-ish hours over night (2100-0600), that should be about 20kWh, and would get our car (46.3kWh usable) about 150 kms a day. Are you really going to drive that much or more everyday, as if doing 6 days a week, that's 47k kms a year. All should be able to be done, simply overnight on slow emergency / granny charging cable. If you catch yourself short, you can always pop into a charging station for 30-45 mins to top up, while doing something in the area, or just chilling and having a coffee & Danish.

Not a fan or Patts, and been over 10 yrs since there. Last time over to Trat, this time, last year actually, we bypassed it completely. Almost popped in, to visit the only thing there that would probably interest me, since the largest in the world ... ... 7-11 Quick Google, and I think I'd try City Coffee Pattaya, coffee, sweets & food w/a view, away from the main.
