1. Not a fan or Patts, and been over 10 yrs since there. Last time over to Trat, this time, last year actually, we bypassed it completely. Almost popped in, to visit the only thing there that would probably interest me, since the largest in the world ... ... 7-11 Quick Google, and I think I'd try City Coffee Pattaya, coffee, sweets & food w/a view, away from the main.
2. If resident alien, Fidelity Investments allows to select beneficiary. Good Luck
3. Easy enough, and just tell them, you are trying to keep up with inflation, just like them. As you say, there daily wages have gone up, as yours should also. Minimum wage has triple since I've been here, 2000. ~100 a day +/-, and now 360 +/- a day.
4. Yep, them big ticket items, and prices based on high labor cost add up fast, and negate any small price differences in everyday items, that some may use or not, and not being processed foods & alcohol, in our case, especially imported. TH wins for us, with these ... Home purchase & maintenance Auto (BEV) & MC purchase & maintenance Solar system purchase No taxes, mere 7% VAT, basically for TH Cost and more importantly, available access to healthcare. I'll take Thailand healthcare on demand vs Q'ing for so called free 'universal' healthcare, that you may or may not receive in a timely manner. Which you paid for, with all those higher taxes anyway, so free is a stretch.
5. And yet, the major cause of most accidents, speed, and no limiters yet mandated ... ... go figure Here's a thought, the rich & elite run the world, and they like their toys. Let that one sink in
6. Stop it, you know why ... ex Celerio driver that you are / were
7. @Foxx Are you a resident alien of USA ?
8. If his wall is on the border of the land, then why does he care. I would ignore him. Especially if you had the land surveyed, and posted already, and you know your boundary. If not, maybe have land office survey & repost, and with any luck, his wall will be on your land Just ignore him, and suggest the wife to also. And I mean, literally walk away while he's trying to talk to you or wife. Soon he'll stop. Or you could whistle the Thai national anthem while he's trying to talk you, as that drives them nuts
9. And for a wee bit more info, Urine Test Strip URS-10T, and surprisingly very accurate. URS-10T reagent strips for urine testing ... Tests ... Leukocytes, Nitrite, Urobilinogen, Protein, pH, Blood, Specific Gravity, Ketone, Bilirubin, Glucose
10. To the title ... ... wife #1 two year ... #2, one year (both Yanks) ... #3, technically, < 1 year (Thai) ... #4 18+ years (Thai) and counting ... nuff said
11. @PREM-R Try to keep up
12. Seriously ... another Trump bashing thread ... ... one word ... "Savile" ... nuff said
13. Probably both, IF, they actually used the money to maintain the parks. 20 baht for Thais would barely pay the salaries and expenses of staff to collect the fees at most parks. The big international tourist visited parks, yes, but, IF going toward the park. From the looks of some parks, not much get put back into the park. Hopefully things have changed, as haven't really been to any, the past 20 yrs. Driven through Doi Inthanon Park area a few times since 2020, and well maintained, so kudos for that.
14. Yep. I usually drive in 'ECO' mode, as more than powerful enough. Switched to sport mode a while back, as wanted to use up the battery as much as possible, before getting home, from Hua Hin, 100 kms away. Wanting to get down to that 10% to do a battery equalizing. I was punching it at every opportunity, what a difference, but failed miserably, because I only get to the speed limit faster, and that's about it. Then the kWh per 100 kms, really didn't change much at all, since once rolling along, at speed limit, there basically is no difference. I think there's only like 5 or 6 traffic lights between HH & PKK that I could even punch it at. All of 1 minute total in actually 'sport' mode over 100 kms Now if I was playing in an urban setting, yes, that would be dangerous, but again, it's the speed limit violating, that would be the issue, not getting to it. As that would only take a few seconds.
15. Doubtful, as so many other product, hobbies, sports can be harmful to children. Look at the crap that they allow them to eat. And who is to judge, the same folks that force experimental drugs / vaccines on people, or the ones that think men can get pregnant. The folks that allow diesel vehicles in urban areas. You can't ban and or restrict products because people are irresponsible. What next, sharp knives, bicycle, sports. If you could, they would have done that a long time ago. Wouldn't be hard to put speed limiters on all vehicles to do the speed limit, down to 55 mph or 90 kph. Stricter enforcement of current laws apparently doesn't work, as USA is quite strict with traffic laws, and yet, far from the safest country to drive in. You could end most of the MVA deaths in TH, by simply banning driving a MC without a helmet, and 2nd time caught, confiscate the MC. Within a few months, everyone would be wearing a helmet. I'm all for freedom of most things, just adjust the law, so that others aren't responsible. Kill someone on a MC, without a helmet, no matter who's fault, the striking vehicle following the law, isn't responsible, and the idiot doesn't get compensated or covered by insurance. Easy solutions, but not in the present societies we live in. Lawsuits is an industry within itself ... profits are #1 Idiots walk & drive among us ... defensive driving. Speed kills, teach you kids that, and how to drive, and they'll live longer ... maybe. Parents need to start being parents, not friends to their kids.
16. As stated, fast cars have been around forever, and folks that buy them, will usually drive them fast. Inexperienced drivers, no matter, ICEV or EV, will have a learning curve and or, oops Experienced drivers of ICEV, will have to adapt to the no noise or vibrations of an EV. Also a learning curve, and or, oops. I find myself driving much faster at times, and why I use cruise control on the highway, as if not, I'll be exceeding the speed limit, as the ride is that much more comfy. That's why PoPO train at high speeds with the siren on, to get used to driving at speed, without hearing the engines, as very hard to judge sometimes, speed and handling without that reference. Also a reason why driving with headphones is illegal in many places, and not necessarily, so you can hear emergency vehicles or other traffic.
17. That's why I don't live in a tourist town. A couple big ones, pluses for me, a Yank, in TH, my income isn't and won't be taxed, along with no real RE Taxes in Thailand, keeps owning (house, not apartment) or renting prices down. And I kind of like the weather, (location depended for both SP & TH) though a bit warm at times, AC & Solar handles that, inexpensively, but cooler region means lots or air pollution, so fair trade. Couple months of poor air, not too bad compared to North of us, as we're below Hua Hin 100 kms, and air purifiers keep things healthy for us. Throw in cost of BEVs, along with that solar again, and our monthly bills are a pittance. I know many, especially single retirees can't pull that off, and EU may have some advantages for citizens of / healthcare, maybe. Alcohol is low low low priority and we rarely indulge. Along with being a 'whole foods' eater, so very little processed foods, which are more expensive that raw whole foods.
18. Mine agrees with the automated ones at the hospitals, 2 types, tested against, along with the mercury hand pump thingys, and tested against. Runs on batteries, so I took it with me. Along with high rating from those that test such things. Geez, I thought I was non-trusting of all things 🙄 On that, wife asked me, more like stated ... "WTF, you bought 2 more meat thermometer, and an oven thermometer" "Yes, to test against each other, to make sure they all agree, or how far off" Surprisingly, they all agree, el' cheap to not so cheap. I'm a .... "If I didn't see, it didn't happen" ... kind of guy, and thought you figured that out by now. "Honey ... we need more tin foil"
19. Must have misspelled it ... THANKS Patts has a few more people, and a bit smaller Hua Hin, a few less people and a bit smaller
20. That's one opinion. As I stated, what he states, I put in practice and got the results he talks about. Believe what ever.
21. It's the exact one that 2 doc's offices use, that I've been to, and it pretty much agrees with the ones at the hospital
22. I got mine ... here Make a bit of noise, the compressor filling the compression strap. Could always use ear plugs or headphones. Though better listen to Phl Ochs or John Prine, to keep BP down, instead of Jeff Beck If you knew all that, and didn't learn anything, congrats. If the opposite, oh well
23. Wing Zaps are tasty, when fresh out & hot. Zinger (chicken sandwich) is good when hot & done right, or not so, when it isn't. That's all I've ever order. Oh yea, egg tarts are decent. Inflation has hit them, so really on pop in when O&A. All local vendors do all, better or as good, and cheaper. Nice change when O&A if PTT Park food court, ma/pa vendors, or 7-11 doesn't have anything interesting. KFC being last choice.
24. Arrived today, and damn tasty. They ain't kiddin' when they say 'spicy crispy', and packed full of crispy onions. May have to hide it from the wife. Although, if I show her the vid, she'll have to make a batch, as no way will she be out done by store bought
