Not a fan of Pattaya, and avoid it when in the area. Lived at Udon Thani for 17 years. 3 different locations, just outside the city. It was tolerable, but I would never go back. Between the 2, Pattaya wins hands down. That's saying quite a lot

Prof Brian Cox Declines Mars Journey, Prefers Moon Exploration
KhunLA replied to Social Media's topic in World News
600mm on APS-C body, so 900mm. Needed for wildlife, especially birds. Had telescope, and didn't care for it, as too powerful for moon, and not powerful enough for anything else. -

What's the problem ? Only took me 50+ years to find a keeper Still not sure which is, was more fun, being here, at getting here. Though too old & lazy to give up what I have, as still turns me on, and makes me smile every day, after 19 years.

Twice-per-second Bleeping Bird: What's it good for?
KhunLA replied to GammaGlobulin's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Life would be boring without the birdsongs in the early morning. Turn the volume up ... birds & dogs, just lovely. Need a rooster now. Could someone please hold the camera steady, or use that expensive tripod you bought. NO, just jack up the shutter speed, you LPOS -
That really does depend on your age, and finances, along with, what happens next. Me, lucky to retire early, so knew I wanted a base, to live, while exploring this new country for living area options. My style, always cheaper to buy in, IF, knowing you'll be there for about 5 yrs. At worse, selling at cost price, and your ROI, is rent you avoided paying for 3-5 yrs. No great loss buying in. 1st house, actually lived there about 7 year. And the what happens next, unexpected, took in the village orphan. So new plan, as I knew I'd be here for another 10 ish years. Not a fan of the hood, so sold 1st house, and rented for 3 years, while recon for land and building new house. Then lived there for 7 years. Already about 17 yrs in country, so yea, need to retire younger for that plan. Daughter graduates, knowing I don't want to live in that province, bought land elsewhere, way south of, before she even graduated, while on one of our O&A (out & abouts). Rented in that area, for almost 3 yrs, while selling 2nd house, and while deciding if wanting to live there as final resting place. Then built 3rd & final house, with added cost of solar, knowing it will be the final house. If retiring at 66, like govt wanted me to, then NO, would not buy in. Renting is the way to go, unless you really know, you are going to stay put, with first purchase. Knowing my past living habit, never 2 or 3 years in any one house, and now living in foreign country I only visited once, I knew that wasn't going to happen. Don't burn your bridges to mother land, (liquidate) unless you know (I did) that you will never return. Where many fail, and spend their equity that they built up for 30-40 yrs, then realize ... oops, I didn't think this through ... F'me, now what

How many times a day do you pee and what it says about your health
KhunLA replied to Rimmer's topic in The Wellness Zone
That sounds like way too much aspirin, along with diclofenac should not be taken long term, having some serious side effects. I'd be surprised if any 'real' doc would suggest either. -

Don't know about you, but I'm a Yank, and where I lived, you'd be hard pressed to even find the tinder box, blow me down homes, you say are typical. I'll go with experience over ignorance & BS. Have a nice day. -
How many people cowered & complied without thinking for themselves ? Even when so many were trying to enlighten you to the truth. That they were all censored and removed from the internet was enough to tell you, something was seriously wrong. How many people forgot everything they learned, and actually believed all the BS they were told ? How many people no longer used common sense, and gave into fear and didn't question anything ? How many thousands have died already, and how many more are going to ? Lesson learned I hope. Don't be so stupid next time. Believing people that have done nothing but lied to you for decades. Democracy has failed the US,maybe it's time for a King
KhunLA replied to SiSePuede419's topic in Political Soapbox
Are they ? Everyone I know, tells me it's just another day, and little (except inflation) has changed much at all. But, like myself, they don't live their life through divisive MSM. Ones that still work, do that, enjoy their family, weekends with kids. Retired folks get out & about as much as possible. -

Whirlpool tend to make very good refrigerators, as very durable, and long lasting. If not buying a Whirlpool, I'd look for one that uses a Whirlpool motor/condenser, as some brands do. We have a Panasonic that does, and also a Whirlpool. Later being 13 yrs old, I think. Panasonic is at least 7, if not more, as don't remember if bought here, PKK, or had it before we got here.

To beard or not to beard, that's the question
KhunLA replied to Confuscious's topic in General Topics
1. for me, pure vanity, like the non facial hair look, as does the wife. If not all grey, I might have kept the beard. 2. agree, and an unkept beard / facial hair, is the same as unkept attire, and looks like crap, showing no respect for yourself. I'm lazy, but ain't that lazy. From 28 to about 50 years old, always had goetee or full beard. Never seemed to turn women off, I don't think, except the wife. As first time I ask her out, that was a big NO She told me later, she thought I was a Muslim. Damn bigot Somehow she missed that I was sipping beer at the time 🙄 -

Earth’s Hottest Year: 2024 Breaks Global Temperature Records
KhunLA replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Not where I live, certainly not now, more like coldest, that I can remember, as stated. Try reading the links I posted, instead of MSM headlines Is the planet getting warmer ... possibly, some areas. But it's not the fault of humans, or anything they can control, stop or reverse. Human contribution is minimal, if any. Latter more like it. -

I listen to climatologist, not funded scientist, that usual agree with the agenda of the folks funding ... IMHO Not to be trusted ... again .. IMHO Climatologist do NOT agree with the MMGW/CC spin being pushed. Here's some reading for you ... https://aseannow.com/topic/1328381-rising-sea-temperatures-and-extreme-heat-could-deter-tourism-in-thailand/#findComment-19333587 -
5g of Creatine would be most I take, more like 3g. See more than a few recommend 5g & up. Don't take any supplements on weekend (sat / sun) to allow any excesses to be used up, though doubt is having any. Kidneys are fine, as my GP is a nephrologist, and been tested, even a CT Scan of whole abdominal area, and said I'm operating at 80%, and normal for someone my age (70). Magnesium Citrate works good for me and no issues. Was even hoping for some of that diarrhea, as constipation use to be a bit of a problem, before going on a Keto-ish diet. Cutting all those carbs (non digested fiber) really made a difference ... smooth sailing now Contrary to all medical advice of 'eating more fiber' After getting off the 'pushed' food pyramid, the past 2 ish yrs, and all the BS we've been fed all my life, I feel so much better, healthier, and my blood work #s agree.

Earth’s Hottest Year: 2024 Breaks Global Temperature Records
KhunLA replied to Social Media's topic in World News
And where would those temps be, because it's colder than I can remember here / PKK now, than the past 20 years since I've been here, living or visiting this time of year. In the teens C overnight. Average temps for PKK ... nothing less <20C -
Was watching a guy the other day, and he was having a hell of time getting back to shore. Not a 'long' line kite surfer, but also not a 'sail' attached to his board. First time I saw that style. Seemed he was off the board and in the surf, as much as when riding back to shore. He had to be exhausted when he finally got to beach. Been so rough & high winds lately, really need to be an expert to be out there.
