I was there for a couple nights, 20+ years ago, and didn't do much for me. Then I'm not really into wats or piles of bricks. A week might be hard to fill with attractions, though probably as good as any place to hang out for a week. Had one of my best Beef Massamans there, Aminha Halal Rest., and that wasn't that long ago, as if heading northward, used Ayutthaya a couple times for a pit stop. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Aminah+Halal+Restaurant/@14.3794603,100.5459187,373m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m6!3m5!1s0x30e2748bc493ae1d:0x9812059f8a175e1!8m2!3d14.379466!4d100.5473175!16s%2Fg%2F11cn8sbrdb?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI1MDQxNi4xIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D

Comments like what ... he, they, celebrities think they are important. Only idiots vote because someone, they don't know, tells them how to. His, theirs, anyone's opinion is only important to themselves, inclusive. Dems and their policies, have sh!t the bed, the last 2 dem administrations, and a couple of the worst. Certainly not saying the Reps, haven't been just as bad in the past. Bush 2 & Bush 1, though at least 1 didn't get reelected. I find all, most politicians to be corrupt, in the game for themselves, and lie through their teeth to get elected, just simply in different parties. I consider almost all voters, extremely ignorant and truly haven't a clue who they are voting for. Trump, well, he's definitely different. Tells what he wants to do, and actually tries to do it. Many times successful, many times not. At least with him, you got a ballpark idea, who you voted for.

I actually thought Alfredo was someone else. Now seeing this, the silly comments, seem even sillier. Read a newspaper ... where do you even find one ?

Why More Americans Are Choosing Thailand Over Florida for Retirement
KhunLA replied to CharlieH's topic in General Topics
If they do their research, they probably would, not that a whole lot of Yanks come to retire in TH anyway. Hindsight, and not sure I'd come here to retire. Couldn't sleep last night, so out of curiosity, peeked at what HUD section 8 is paying now for subsidized housing. Think I'd stay in USA, and simply buy 5 to 10 more rentals, to offset the expanse of living there. -
Sadly most people will think it's a great idea. Same idiots that cowered & complied during the last 'situation'. Blindly believing everything they were told, what to do, when most went completely against common sense. Along with being injected with experimental chemicals they had no knowledge about, while ignoring every warning put forward ... before they were scrubbed from the internet. Mind boggling

Why More Americans Are Choosing Thailand Over Florida for Retirement
KhunLA replied to CharlieH's topic in General Topics
Thanks, I feel much better now about not retiring in FL, as was my top choice, for a long time. That's crazy expensive just to live there, as much as I enjoyed FL, that's hard expenses to justify. Those 2 expenses are literally 40% my Soc Sec, and for a house you already own, or worse, still paying for. Just 5 years worth of those payments, and I could rebuild our house, since only cost 2 mill baht, and would include a solar system, almost off grid. Good luck ... hurry and retire. -
Cheapest place in Bangkok to buy new phone
KhunLA replied to kingstonkid's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
There are some things you should only buy from manufacturer's store or authorized reseller, and phones are definitely one of those. Xiaomi / Poco phone fan myself. Good Luck -
And yet, I've never loss money in RE. Quite the opposite, and 50-500% profits selling. Along with suppling income an or free housing for myself. People need 2 thing, food and a place to live. Providing food is too much work. Housing, simply too easy. RE provides income, that liquid enough. Unless just starting out, if you're investing in RE, you have plenty of COH.

3rd person to point out the obvious, what I already know. Living in USA & TH, I did that conversion long time ago, even before getting to TH. My original reply was simply confirming what someone stated the speed should, since a developed area. PLEASE ... nobody else needs to try to enlighten me about miles - kms conversion, known how to for decades. Same with F & C temps, and oz-lbs & gr-ml-liters, home chef & baker that I am 😎

They do to me, most times. I rarely go over 90 kph, and use the cruise control, so I don't. When posted at 60 kph, on the main highway, usually through major town with market, then I'll do 60 kph. Off the main, 60 & 30 kph .. nah, not so much, but drive very safe and aware of everything. When I'm in Krung Thep or congested area, where people may step off the kerb at anytime, or something come out of a side street about 1 meter before they even look ... yea, I'm in 'old man with hat & glasses mode'. Surely frustrating the hell out of any folks behind me, trying to get home with that pizza still hot. Oh well ...

I liked that whole area, Tampa down to Naples. Use to visit Sarasota, 1981/82, when I worked for Altair @ EWR, and was a nice break, since having friends there and a place to stay for couple days. Then lived on & off, at Clearwater a couple weeks a month. Work a couple weeks, take a couple weeks off, having a friend w/bennies living there. Think I lived on Grouper sandwiches & Red Stripe, at Frenchy's, Clearwater Beach, that was 1990/91. That's when I seriously thought about retiring in FL, till I was there for a whole summer ... brutal. So moved to TH instead ... F'g brillent ... Even flew to Tampa one day / night, to watch EC do a concert Damn I loved working for the airlines 😎

Stayed there (Coriacea Boutique Resort) and one of our first O&A during very early covid. Best to self drive, or pick a resort that has good food. We were the only ones at the resort, due to covid, and most everything around was shuttered. But you definitely needed a car for the area. You can get some great plane spotting snaps from the beach ...

Rare, but TH has had a Typhon blow by close enough, and even hit land to cause deaths. A few notable ones ... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_disasters_in_Thailand
