Agree ... one does have to self entertain @ PKK After a year or 3, since there really is no east or west to explore, as all of 13 kms wide at one spot, and not much more elsewhere, you get to know the immediate 100-150 kms away, very fast. We know the N & S of PKK, like the back of your hand. It's a really 'long' province. When we do go O&A, the first day is getting to somewhere that's not already familiar and been to 10 times. With 'downtown' side of Hwy #4, (1 km X 0.5 km), and only having <26k people, well ... nuff said. Still 'Lovin' It', but definitely not for everyone, unless having a garden / greenhouse, and a few hobbies to keep yourself busy. If an Alky, you can always sit surfside and chain smoke all night, if that's your thing

Aussie burger patties....anyone have any secrets?
KhunLA replied to Kenny202's topic in Western Food in Thailand
I'll make two, thin, 75gr patties, just for that reason, as the charring does add quite a bit of flavor. Especially since cooked in the cast iron, instead of a charcoal grill. Advantage of quick cooking also, and no need to pay as much attention as with a thicker burger. -
I'm sure they will, in 75 years, along with all the covid trials data, I think they're still waiting for. If you look at the patent filings for the covid vaccine, that's exactly what is discussed. They were labeled as 'gene therapy' or PReP at best, and getting them classified as a vaccine was a struggle. Though the did successfully get the definition of vaccine to fit 'PReP' definition. What a joke, or scam. FDA, CDC & WHO are too corrupt ... IMHO The above is my opinion of course, from my reading of said filings. Which I do believe I posted somewhere on AN, may or may not still be there, if not deleted. After the fact, they are looking into it ... sad: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37445690/ Still fighting the classification of covid vax as gene therapy ... https://www.europarl.europa.eu/doceo/document/E-9-2024-000355_EN.html

Don't see any kudos for Trump, when it was on a high, one of the highest, just before covid. Y'all are so transparent, the hate is mind boggling. Here's another example of Biden good, Trump bad, I pointed out yesterday ... https://aseannow.com/topic/1356941-thanks-to-donald-finally-we-know/page/6/#findComment-19724778 2+ months in, and y'all might want to actually give him some time to actually fail. As I'm sure he will in some aspects. Then y'all can jump for joy and relish if things start to slide downward. Amazing how people want things to go bad, just so they can say ... "see, I told you" 🙄 So far he's doing OK, but it's early. Got a few wins already.

90% of the threads are now in 'Political Soapbox' forum ... ... go figure Economic speculation from the mentally ill ... IMHO Seems to be a common theme on AN, no matter what the comparison is, too funny ... ... Trump - bad ... Biden - good Lowest since 2022, when who was president. BUT, not as low as 2022, when who was president

Title made my think of 'holding tank' for all the tears of the crying (snowflake) customers ... Just another 'hate Trump' thread

Hilly provinces with a view. Not a fan of the capital cities, unless small. Hate Chiang Mai city, one of the worst, if not, in all of TH. CM, CR, MHS, Nan, Phrae, Uttaradit, Lampang, Phayao, Phetchabun, Phitsanulok, Tak and Lamphun are all nice provinces These here, not so scenic, unless on west side of, with some hills; Phichit, Sukhothai, Nakhon Sawan, Kamphaeng Phet, Uthai Thani. Same with NE, if not going up onto, or off the plateau, very boring, unless on the edge of, then some nice drop offs / viewpoints. Why we like the South so much, the limestone karsts and hills are spectacular. Besides, I lived near or in the Appalachians for decades, so had my fill of hillsides. At least temperate zones has the autumn change of leaves, and spectacular. Here, TH, different shades of green or brown, dull & dusty Do have some nice flowering trees here though. Golden Shower s, when in bloom look nice along the highways. "Cassia fistula, is Thailand's national tree and flower. It's also known as "Ratchaphruek" in Thai Made short vid of, at the park the other day, of those trees ... Untitled video - Made with Clipchamp.mp4

I've been on 7, and far from smooth. Smoother than most, but you may go airborne over some of those humps. Good luck stopping on the other side, if traffic slowed or worse, stopped. near 200 kph, and drink driving ... That simply elevates dumb to dumber your one to avoid, as are so many we read about. Tic Toc ... only a matter of time. Not IF but WHEN Hope you are jesting, but suspect not that far from truth.

Credit card fees
KhunLA replied to CallumWK's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Just Goolgled 'payment service providers' & 'payment processing vendors' aside from the big 3; Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. Wow ... options abound. A few I knew about, most I did not. Yea, there's that many. -
Usually 90 kph on most main highways, as only a few sections allow 120 kph. Which I'm really not comfortable driving at most times, as the road simply isn't made for it. And if having U-turns, you need to get down to 90 kph fast, or receive a citation if camera there. As been reported on AN. I even do 60 kph on hwy 4 through Kuiburi and or Sam Roi Yot, as posted @ 60 kph, and notice the trucks doing close to it, so guessing it's enforces. Plus there huge market there, where folks back out into the far right lane, so 60 is just common sense, for that area. Off the main, when posted 60 or 30 kph, nah, that's too slow, unless I feel the need to drive that slow. Conditions dependent.

Easier and more relaxing just to do the speed limit. If lucky enough to even manage that.

Credit card fees
KhunLA replied to CallumWK's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
International transaction is expected, either direction. The rest is down to the financial vendor you chose. We prefer, (mine at least) no fees. Not sure about the wife's, as never been or will be tested outside TH. Simple, don't want to pay fees or have a card that charges them ... ... use cash 🙄 Do people really need the simplest advice. Simply shop around, as there are few bank choices in TH. Even fewer CC vendors (VISA, MC, etc etc + Asian offers) -
Nostradamus Predictions for 2025 (USA, China, and France!)
KhunLA replied to save the frogs's topic in Political Soapbox
Born: December 14, 1503 Died: July 2, 1566 (age 62 years ... His predictions are so vague, too silly to apply to anything current. About the same as any fortune teller. I wonder if he envisioned flying taxis -
For a Thai, minimal, and not even worth worrying about. Make sure she is registered in the govt health scheme where she is located, and plans on having the baby.

Why is XI suddenly engaging in projection?
KhunLA replied to GammaGlobulin's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
He's only 71, so he'll probably be around for another decade, and that's a good thing ... IMHO -
Since been to MHS a few times, no desire to return. For others that don't self drive, you may not have much of a choice.

Credit card fees
KhunLA replied to CallumWK's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I did an edit, while you were typing, and my USA card have no fees, and reimburses and silly Thai banks ATM fee. ... "My USA plastic I use for ATM has no fees, and reimburses the silly Thai bank ATM fee. No reason to have fees on your plastic, just chose financial institution a bit more wisely." ... Didn't read OP, since on my 'list'. Only read your follow up, since it did follow mine. I should have wrote my usual, when not reading the OP ... ... "to the title" ... Oh well, carry on
