Yep ... I'm sure I impress the hell out of people, with my 3 failed marriages, 2 failed live in relationships, living in slums and driving 2nd hand cars, while having 30+ jobs, most unskilled for 25+ years. I can build a good drone from scratch and pretty good with a camera though. As you said, got some great memories & experiences, and still making a few more. Can't ask for much more than that. Just as important, never hurt anyone, or took more than I gave. Don't recognize the old guy in the mirror sometimes, but I do like him.

Hanging out with Netanyahu this week, if was Iran, I'd be kissing their nuke facility bye bye. Surely a good part of the budget is going to Israel, to again, clean up the mess the Dems allowed, and basically financed terrorist. Can't say I agree with it, but someone has to stop them, once and for. At least knock 'em back a decade or 2. Just why is the USA all the time ? Especially since Iran isn't even a threat to the USA.

A couple AN members know me personally, and nobody calling me out for BS. Even a good friend met in Udon Thani, another NWA retiree, but a mechanic, and did the 40+ year, one job, NWA, and their pension was $100 a month per year of service. So he gets at least $4000 a month pension, and max'd out on Soc Sec, so probably another $4000 a month for that. That's a nice retirement income. We all got together for monthly meet up, so a member or 2 on here, know me personally. Unlike most anonymous keyboard warriors. I'm an open book, as fear nothing. Posting photos, vids of self, even maps to our house. Not anonymous at all, except legal name. Not here to make friends or impress anyone. But if someone asks me a question, I answer, if not too invasion. Called being social, after all, this is a social forum. Unlike many, I have nothing to hide

Solar panel package suggestion.
KhunLA replied to kwak250's topic in Alternative/Renewable Energy Forum
That moved the goal posts a wee bit from the OP, of ฿4k-฿4500 bill a month for less than 1000kWh. -
MG ZS, Not 50k, but 40k kms, and no maintenance at all, except air in tires & tire rotation at the 20k & 40k check ups. We clean the in cabin air (PM2.5) filter ourselves, since having a dog, and they have a silly charge to swap it out. Too easy to do ourselves. Don't think they've done anything, maybe top up brake fluid or window fluid. Nothing noted anyway, and supposedly they check a long list of things. All done within 15-30 minutes, except when tires rotated. Check ups every 10k kms, and maybe 4 more to go, maybe, per 8 yr warranty requirement, since we're not racking up the kms like we used to. Cost <฿2k per check up, and in line with MG's estimated service charge cost in promo, when purchased.

Solar panel package suggestion.
KhunLA replied to kwak250's topic in Alternative/Renewable Energy Forum
Yes, 425k without batteries is way too expensive. You are using on average <1000 kWh / units a month, so yes, that system would be enough. We have 8kW hybrid inverter, and on good day will easily produce 50kWh, or 1500kWh a month, and we've used 1000+kWh a month a couple times. Only 2 of us at house, and minimal use after sunset. 6-8kWh overnight. Abuse the ACs during daytime, (1 sm AC at night) and have BEVs that charge with excess solar, not used by the house. Our system, w/ESS ... https://aseannow.com/topic/1268214-solar-8kw-hybrid-inverter-w10kwh-upgraded-to-20kwh-in-sept-2022-essbattery-not-diy/ -
I'm starting to think OP has his queries on a 3 month queue alarm, to repost the same query ever 3 months ... 40k a month ... now 'what do you do' ... what next, hobbies, breakfast, blood test, another destination he'll never visit, if ever came to TH

British Woman Arrested at Phuket Airport for 207-Day Visa Overstay
KhunLA replied to Georgealbert's topic in Phuket News
Well done Imm ❤️ Obey the laws, or else. She could have simple 'obeyed the lax law' and turned herself in, paid her ฿20k fine & 10 yr ban, and been on her way home, instead of the detention center. Oh well, you just can't fix stupid Publicize the hell out of it, as a warning to others. Use a little common sense and respect local laws. -
to the title, and assuming same query asked 10X in the last year. Yes, you can live on ฿40k, although, you have to be married to qualify for a long term visa on that amount. Choose wisely where & how you spend, same worldwide.

Actually did it all, except flight attendant or flying. Reservations, operations, computer input, weight & balance of ACs, loading, unloading at ramp side, ticket counter, gate agent. Along with all levels, noob, supervisor, city manager, hire/fire, input for negotiating contracts for service vendors. Never played mechanic, but had to babysit ACs overnight in freezing weather, starting the APUs ever so often, so water lines wouldn't freeze on 727s. Along with deicing the ACs during inclement & freezing weather. Jack of all trades after 4 different airlines for 16 ish years. Did allow me to travel to my hearts desire, and on the cheap. $40 round trip domestic First Class, and $200 international FC. And I used that hell out of those bennies. Hence part of the 2 days a week, the last 10 years working for NWA. On the 'lucky to never been hurt' ... 2nd real job, 18 yrs old, herniated 2 discs in my back. Lived with that since, though TBO, not smartly. After surgery in 1997, was advised to stop working, change jobs, or come back in a couple years, and 'I'll fix you again'. Hence the retiring in 2000/2001. A wee bit before planned, as aggravated my back again, and got fired, the day after I put in the paperwork. Thanks 'corporate' world, forcing me to retire 2 years earlier, and actually making it easier. Leaving on the best union contract, before NWA filed bankruptcy and DL took over. My pittance of a pension would be even less if they didn't fire me. As the union screwed the NWA employees, with the merger/take over agreement. Not me, because I left on the old contract We can control what we choose, and learn as much as possible, before that choice. Not saying it always works out, but a little common sense, does go a long way. Farmer, funny you state that, as remember a test in high school, suppose to point you in a career direction, and 'farmer' was the chosen one for me after results tallied up Forest ranger came in 2nd, and could identify with that one. My answers must of pointed me to be outdoors, and on my own, and that actually makes sense. One think I liked about playing truck driver and other jobs, outdoors and nobody looking over my shoulder. Thought how ridiculous farming was, but, now in retirement, I wish I had the back to do it, as quite enjoy the garden & greenhouse providing food. If a younger man with a better back, and need for income, I could actually see me playing farmer. Now, just get to help the wife a bit, and nothing to physical, as not wishing to disturb my back. I behave, it behves. Not at all, and we live with our choices. And I've made plenty of bad ones. Damn embarrassing ones, but survived. The ol' dust yourself off, and try again. No excuses from me, for me, or it's all someone or some other entity's fault. Jobs have screwed me, govt has screwed me, and I've been an idiot at times ... just live & learn. Move on, till find something that works. Somehow, novel writing didn't come up as a career choice. Brother (author 3 books) did suggest I put my photography in a book and have published.

Doesn't he have an ICC warrant out for his arrest ?

I learned that lesson before I even got out of high school as the Vietnam War was unfolding and all the lies were exposed. Learned another crucial lesson from trial & error ... 'work hard for a company, put you 30-40 yrs in & retire'. Found out that was total BS after 3 airlines. Hence the self employment route, and never looked back. Don't depend on anything, you don't have total control over.
-
Lucky had nothing to do with it. After getting laid off from my 3rd airlines, 1985 (30 yrs old), I simply realize self employment was the way to go, after 15 ish years of playing the employee. The rest was easy after that realization. Instead of a measly $9 an hour, I paid myself $50-$100 an hour. Work smarter, not harder. Investing in RE, then teaching myself how to trade successfully in the stock market. Living within my means, actually way below my means, with minimal waste, and 'look at me toy purchases'. Living in crap neighborhoods, driving old 2nd hand cars, MCs, trucks. If I couldn't buy something I wanted with cash, then I simply couldn't afford it. I knew how to balance a check book. Unlike most & govt. All extra money going toward retire plan. Actually very structured, with a play money budget, and sticking to it. Paid off mortgages ASAP, and never borrowed money for depreciating toys. Economics 101 RE allowed living rent free. Working for airlines again, later, 2 days a week, supplemented self employment, and allowed near free travel and health ins (never needed), along with allowing 5 days off for myself; working or playing. Avoiding most of the mistakes that I saw others making, that made it impossible for them to get ahead. Mainly living way beyond their means and in debt for their 'look at me toys & house'. It's not rocket, it's simply common sense.

Aussie burger patties....anyone have any secrets?
KhunLA replied to Kenny202's topic in Western Food in Thailand
I use local Thai beef for burgers. It's a burger. Either have brisket ground, and I choice the pieces of, or have lean beef ground, again, I chose the beef. I cook beef in Beef Tallow only, for added flavor, and no fillers, just some seasonings. Quite tasty, and better than anything served from any vendors ... IMHO -
I feel your pain. Still here, and slowing, weening myself off. Put so many on my ignore list, it's a lot easier now. Not tempted to post, since not triggered by their drivel Still a couple topics that interest me. Try to stick to them, try that is

So I'm irritating because ... ... I chose better income streams ... didn't rely on govt or employers ... planned my retirement ... get to use and or save what I paid into Not my fault, they are left to struggle and fix the system they allowed the corrupt politicians to destroy. You are either part of the solution or you are the problem. I suggested, if people want the tariffs to work, as Pres Trump suggest, 'it isn't going to be easy'. And it definitely is not going to be. These same people that need to make the sacrifice, are the same people that allowed the system to screw them royally, and now this is where they are at. Their fault, their problem ... not mine. I chose a different path. We live by our choices. At their own doing, for not being intelligent enough to pay attention a long time ago, to make govt accountable, while their taxes and deficit continued to go up, with NO positive result from the increases. ... They allowed the Gulf war to take place. ... They allowed the market bail out ... They allowed healthcare to be unaffordable ... They allowed lock down and shut downs during pandemic. ... Most importantly, they continued to allow corrupt politicians drain the SS fund, because they, politicians can't seem to balance a checkbook, while enriching themselves. ... After realizing the failure of the politicians, they, USA citizens kept reelecting them Som nam naa And it's too late now. Unless of course, they make the sacrifice, and trust the man they elected. But we all know that's not going to happen, or that the deep state will allow it to. Look at it on paper, and you realize it's a theory, business strategy that will work. 'BUY USA' ... it really is too simple a solution. Invest in yourself. Won't be solved this year, not this administration, but in 10 years, if manufacturing came back to the USA, and the deficit is reduced, and balance budgets passed instead of the ever rising deficit ceiling, then the USA 'citizens' can dig themselves out of the hole, THEY put themselves in. Two very smart businessmen, have a plan that will work, IF YOU WORK IT. Good luck with that ...

World stock markets plunge again as Trump doubles down on tariffs
KhunLA replied to CharlieH's topic in World News
Fear selling ... perfect scenario for 'market makers', and good time to invest when they bottom out, as will recover almost as fast. I wouldn't be surprised if 'they' caused the fear selling. And Trump gets the blame. Yes, that is the scam of the markets ... IMHO, and from years of experience and watching them do, just that. -
Avoided that white elephant in the room ... People die, get over it. Vaccines ... having chemicals injected into your body should be voluntary. Do your own risk assessment. I chose not to have vaccines injected in me, and very glad I did, considering some of the life debilitating side effects, even death that has resulted from the latest batch of crap people had injected into them. "My Body My Choice" ... for everyone, for everything

You mean nobody reportedly died from measles. There's a difference. There's a National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program for a reason, and has paid out about $5.3 billions in compensation. And that should skyrocket when covid vaccines suits get adjudicated. https://www.hrsa.gov/sites/default/files/hrsa/advisory-committees/vaccines/vicp-stats-02-01-25.pdf

I give the majority, if not all, of SS to the wife, and she invests it for her and my daughter's future. Reality, neither needs it, as both sitting fine already. Posted elsewhere how SS gets saved & invested. Haven't touched it this year, or my pension, as still working from leftovers from last year's budget. This will give you an idea where the my SS goes, well most of it ... https://aseannow.com/topic/1334362-budget-again-keto-ish-diet/#findComment-19263439

Been there about 10X during late Sept, early Oct (school break) and surf was fine. Just pay attention to red flags and or know how to get out of a rip, which can happen anytime. I preferred swimming at ebb or incoming tide times. If I lived there, I wouldn't want any more tourist coming either ... And some folks don't even bother with swimming in the surf, and simply enjoy looking at it. I know when crowded, I don't bother, as fecal count is too high for my liking. Another reason I don't care for over developed beach town. If they even have sewage treatment plants, they're stressed to their limits. Kamala Beach hasn't been a secret for years, as people tire of Patong, Karon & Kata beach crowds.
