  1. yes, if using the lower end dental clinic/docs, do schedule your appointment to be the first. Unless you actually think they have enough autoclaves, bits & drills to sterilize both the drill bits & drills between every patient.
  2. If just for the wife, knocking around town, you really need to check out the DECO 2000w motor models. 1000w motor models can be a bit limiting, depending on driving style.
  3. No need, I've actually got caught in the rain a couple times, drones & E-MB. Didn't shrink or explode.
  4. And those record windfall profits the oil companies made, affecting that supply chain, jacking up prices across the board.
  5. All would be easy to audit, but yea, silly to do. Tax your house as it goes up in value, even though you may never sell it. Tax stock holdings when up, but what happens when down, do you get paid that year. I lost 110k, and I got a 5k baht credit. I'd rather get paid 40k, if your plan was instituted. And, I still had to pay tax on my 40k salary, now taxed at 35k. Very fair ???? Goes both ways, you can't keep taking for the 'haves' that earned what they have. How come a fair, flat tax across the board is never good enough ? It would be very easy to do, simply audit w-2s & 1099s, as just about covers most things received. Because then everyone would have to pay their fare share, not just the haves being over taxed. All the suggestions, only benefit the low income, but taking from the higher incomes. Fair ??? Trust me, the haves are all in favor of a flat tax.
  6. I'm surprised you didn't suggest they shrink when they get wet in the rain.
  7. There are different types of e-motorcycles/scooter/bikes. DECO's are all LFP batteries, and yet one to be reported on fire. With 1000s being sold in TH. You get what you pay for, and how you maintain it.
  8. I guess the Celerio should have a turtle as a badge, along with other ICEV that can't manage to keep up with EVs ... ????
  9. Yes, gains, same as salaries, not taxed until you receive them. Why should that be any different, as hard to predict gains. And take note, you don't get much credit for 'losses' , a flat 5k no matter the loss ... that's fair ????
  10. They already make them, and so many more: China Rocks
  11. Of course it is, and next month they'll release their ridiculously low rate of inflation for the year, just in time for the COLA to be announced on Social Security ... ... like clockwork ... ????
  12. Capital gains is considered income, same as paychecks, and reported to IRS from brokers, same as salaries from employers. There is no avoiding paying taxes ... it's the BS of those that spin that silliness. You can use the tax laws to cut your tax, or delay your tax, but that's about it. Everyone pays, well, except the people who want to take from those that earned. Best way to cut your tax, is give your income away, and why so many rich, give so much to charities, or good motivation anyway. Give 1M away, and save paying tax on that 1M. And kudos for those that do so.
  13. 2nd visit for root canal done (Fri/10 days after 1st), was charged seperate for each visit 4k & 4k. Need to return Monday, for more work, a permanent filling, and mold for the forthcoming composite. After taking the other half of the crapped out veneer that's still there off. So a 4th visit, maybe 10-14 days after Monday before done. So a bit pricy for saving a small tooth, being the side incisor. 1k and I could have just yanked it, but where would my modeling career go from there ... ???? Vanity is expensive ???? So another 1k + 4k, I think she said, or 12k for a crown, which I don't really need, as an incisor.
  14. I refuse to buy any garment with name brand on it. Foot wear hard to avoid, but that's as far as I'll allow. Says the guy with the MG advert ... ????
  15. Love Chanting also ... with a good follow up riff ???? On topic ... advantage, no need for alarm clock
  16. We also, very rarely have power outages. Only 1 long one, and that was scheduled, advised work on power lines. Unannounced power outages being extremely rare, maybe 3 in 5 yrs, and hardly noticed, time wise, 5-10 minutes. Udon Thani was a different story, unless a storm, then just rolling brown outs were common, but wife would call, and it would be be on in 5 mins. Almost feel sorry for the next village that got turned off, to accommodate the city. One of the pluses of have solar, even a small system w/ESS. Or that EV with V2L, if consistently having outages. Keep the frig & a fan going at least.
  17. If you want to be fair ... actually fair to everyone. No deductions, and simply pick a flat income rate. Those that think the rich don't pay enough, fine, pick their rate. A flat tax of between 25-37% ... across the board, no exceptions. I would have loved to pay 25%, or have everyone pay 37% .... pick one. Everyone pay the same, that's called being fair.
  18. That would be about the worst thing you could impose on the rich. I got mine, enough for me, so I stopped earning. Doesn't affect anyone. Now Gates, Bezos or Musk, get their homes & 2M savings. Why bother continuing, close down MS, Amazon, Tesla, Space X. Getty got his, why bother drilling more oil. Rothchilds got theirs, close the banks & mortgages end. Ford ... I think you get the idea. Industry & commerce would come to a screeching halt. Along with farming and food distribution. Along with apparently 79-97% of your income tax base in the USA. Not to mention, loss of all the income, to the not so rich, that are employed by the companies the rich have built up. And their income tax base, all loss, since no jobs to work. Talk about a negative butterfly effect ????

  20. My retirement here is about the same as it would be in the USA ... BUT ... probably a bit less pocket change, and healthcare if needed would use up my oops fund a lot faster, even though having Medicare A & B. As what that cost, I doubt if I can get that sick here/TH. Plan B ... $2000 / ฿70k a year. Not counting the deductibles, that cost more than the meds here ???? Along with the Q to see the doc, for the referral to see the specialist, to Q for that, and if hospital stay, Q up for that, with huge deductibles all the way. All total, more than instant, accessible treatment here/TH. At the same price, without the need for monthly B premiums. 3 years here, and about ฿300k less spent, since no premiums, to have Medicare & see a doc, and I haven't spent that much here yet, with the couple med oops that I've had. Including check up to monitor things, which wouldn't happen in USA. Posted earlier, EKG here <$6, USA, start of $525 / 10 or 20% deductible, $50-$100, beside the 2 doc visits w/deductibles, maybe $40, So, cheapest 100-150 dollars, plus wait time, for a < $7 visit for the test here, all in ???? Actually, todays $$$, I've been here 23 yrs, so say 20 X 2000 = $40k USD, Plan B would have cost me already if I retired in USA, all things being equal. I can't get that sick here. So I'm ฿1.3M ahead already, by living in TH, and not have Plan be for past 23+ years. USA ... NO THANKS
  21. USA can feed & fuel itself. Already a 'service industry' workforce. Could easily convert to manufacturing again. Just more profitable now to outsource it.
  22. I'm not at poverty level, but I also don't even need to file a tax return. Too poor in the eyes of IRS. Debt free, with ridiculously low 'mandatory' monthly outflow: ... ~฿150 for water ... ฿27 conx fee to PEA (solar) ... feed ourselves & dog ฿10k Other monthly expenses revolve around unnecessary transport cost. Unnecessary, as everything needed is within walking or bicycle distance. ... car & scooter (EVs) ins, registration maintenance -฿2000 ... home & phone internet/call service <฿1400 My pittance of a company pension covers that. My Soc Sec is enough alone for Ret. Visa, if wanting, I could actually save all of that. Though we do fail miserably trying to spend it. Damn CCs. Obviously took a few satang, to be mortgage/rent, car/scooter payment free. Quick ROI, especially since banks don't give much of anything for saving. So spend it, as worth more today than tomorrow, if saved.
