  1. Guess L forgot the roads are built for 6-10-18 wheelers. Incentives for EVs, get 'em while they're hot ???? MG ZS 1570 kg vs big boy @ 55.5 tons
  2. If I picked up other peoples trash while walking anywhere here, I wouldn't get very far, and end up with a bad back. I pay taxes to employ other folks to pick up after the idiots who have no respect for themselves or country they live in.
  3. Yes, when just having the 1 ESS (10kWh) had it set to 35%, and don't think we ever went down that far. Now with 2 ESSs, never go below 60%, so longevity shouldn't be a problem, for a decade or 2. LFP chemistry being a plus also.
  4. I have been to the USA, for 20+ yrs, and pretty sure I got back most taxes that I payed. Happy with the thought, I didn't support that terrorist state's foreign policy with my taxes. Hopefully another 10 yrs of being a blight on society.
  5. Free large magnets are available in that hard drive that no longer works, and will do the trick nicely. Or so I read somewhere ... probably ... maybe ... or not.
  6. Leaves 13% for 'act of GOD' ... not covered by most insurance carriers.
  7. To the title ... for obvious reasons. ME ... everyone else is on my ignore list ???? It's a quick read.
  8. ... by 'working' for a living. My 2nd job was at a steel mill, where I basically lifted weights through out the day & night. Whether loading castings on pallets from 10-100+ lbs (50kg), or shoveling spent steel from the lathes to be recast. Other jobs included manual labors, carrying weight or digging. Last job was loading aircrafts, and a military charter could easily have 500 duffle bags on it, hand loaded, and weighting anywhere between 20-100lbs(50kg). Used to get asked quite often .. "what gym do you work out at?", from people who didn't know me, as being a LPOS off the job. Use to give me a chuckle. Retired 20+ yrs, and I think my chest has fallen down to my waist/love handles. Maybe I'll start exercising tomorrow ... or not.
  9. Karma is a bitch ... do the crime, expect repercussions. I'll have no sympathy for the A-hole I catch on my side of the wall at the house.
  10. Have owned and used plenty of lithium batteries, different chemistries, abused during use & charging, and not 1 has had an oops yet. Now with 3 EVs and better made batteries, and smarter use & charging, I expect me record of no oops to continue. Especially with the car, since using LFP, which I yet to read about any, anywhere, having an oops. Can't say the same about fossil fuel using machines. Though myself, never had a problem, but I maintain my machines, and keep all those moving parts and fuel lines in good shape. With few exceptions, I suspect most oops to be 'user error'... from experience & IMHO
  11. Thanks for the chuckles. So older buildings in TH shouldn't allow fat people inside, since built when average weight of Thai adult was 40-50kg, and now many are overweight. You're a funny guy.
  12. Our ROI should be between 5.32 yrs +/-, depending how much we drive. And yes, I include the EVs as part of that savings. Our cost, a wee bit more than most w/20kWh of ESS so an extra ฿195k to be off grid. 43% of the system price, to save 25-33% of usage overnight. So ROI would be shorter with just a tie in system. Unless not at home or overpaying, solar system in TH will definitely give you a nice ROI ... IF you live that long. Wife should enjoy decades of savings. IF PEA bought excess, then we could easy export 10-20kWh a day.
  13. @LaosLover A few more cuts for you, though more laid back than vid you watched. Sunny Afternoon (mentioned)
  14. Both brothers, Ray & Dave are, 79/76. Nice thread, as I almost forgot how good Dave was on guitar. Quick Google and Ian Gibbons died in 2019, and Mick Avory is still kickin'.
  15. Also a Kinks fan, and saw them a couple times. Later on in career. Soap Opera release & Tour 1975/76 Excellent, and again later on.
  16. Except for back up/emergency, that's what I used them for. Bought a car to resell from GSA/DEA repo auction. But drove it too much & liked it. Dumb A$$ ... ended up giving it to GF, moving out of state, as she needed a dependable car. Another time, a house, OK, fixer upper, but a little sweat equity, quick loan to pay off CC, and rented, then finally sold it.
  17. A few hrs from Bangkok ... ???? ... go much more than 1.5 hours and you're out Thai airspace. And that's if you head N or S.
  18. Did you plan the next 30+ yrs on company & govt pensions, or your brokerage account balance ?
  19. That will never happen. Much improved since 2000, but constant widening & maintenance is never ending. To / from, Fri-Sat / Sun, Bkk-HH-Bkk, to be avoided, along with driving in town weekends. Gridlock, parking - nil, thanks to taxis. Thankfully, 'downtown' is small enough that most things are within walking distance. Really don't need a car. And taxis are silly priced. Decent baht bus service for exploring a bit N or S of 'town'. Good place to chill for the a short week or long weekend. Once is enough for most folks, if even bothering. Nice base to explore the province, as would be Pranburi. Surf looks nice at times, but forget swimming in it. mid Nov - mid May can be a smoggy.
  20. Thailand ... ... a 3rd World country with many modern things.
