  1. Cool tiktok video with an expensive vehicle, but the Chinese have been doing this for years. Geely has 1-minute battery swaps perfected, and I believe Sinopec is establishing a nationwide fast swap program throughout the country.
  2. Did they stake a claim? According to their results, Antarctica holds more fossil fuel than the entire Middle East. And with a fuel/soil percentage 4x higher than oil shale! They gon' be rich! Amazing Antarctica!
  3. If they calculate as per capita, Thailand should be at or near the top. China: .345% (pop 1,450,000,000) Thai: .348% (pop 71,850,000) We win!!!!!!!
  4. Mostly wait and see, as this is the international hub of talking 'bout stuff and never doin' nuthin. Although this is a chance to screw the dirty foreigners, so odds are higher in this case. I manage my investments to stay below the taxable limit. All income is properly reported but below the threshold to pay tax to Uncle Brandon. Will Thailand declare that to be "untaxed" and levy tax? If so, I have no US tax payments to offset so the claim that I can just get it back when I file is incorrect. In the meantime, I'll spend down extra cash I have in Thai accounts, and any funds moved into Thailand will be Wise'd to the wife's bank account. Plans B and C will be prepared. First would be simply staying outside the country, maybe Cambodia for the required number of days. Also looking at better options for retirement. If China offers a retirement visa, we're outa here.
  5. Gotta watch out for roadsides.

  8. Also available are kettle bell handles where you can adjust the weight by adding/removing dumbbell plates. https://www.lazada.co.th/products/bg-kettlebell-handle-i4976299167-s20960504331.html
  9. Take three friends. Share one coffee. If anyone asks, that's how they do it back home in Chennai.
  10. Hub of steady progress accomplishing nothing.
  11. On arrival, he found that the the small hotel was exactly as described. Gosh, the photos in the booking.com site even showed the pharmacy on the street-level floor. https://www.booking.com/hotel/th/lek-lek-samui.html?aid=304142&label=gen173nr-1FCAEoggI46AdIM1gEaN0BiAEBmAExuAEXyAEP2AEB6AEB-AECiAIBqAIDuAKIjbKxBsACAdICJDg1ZDQyYmJmLWJiOWYtNDEyZS1hZDMxLTYzODVmN2MxMTJhNdgCBeACAQ&sid=22daedac9b348c080a8b7e9da823b966&dist=0&group_adults=2&group_children=0&hapos=1&hpos=1&no_rooms=1&req_adults=2&req_children=0&room1=A%2CA&sb_price_type=total&sr_order=popularity&srepoch=1714194103&srpvid=587123558812008c&type=total&ucfs=1&activeTab=main

  13. I know this sounds crazy, but couldn't you just, you know, pay the ticket? Problem solved.
  14. OP had a SWIFT sent via Wise. That was real live GBP sent across borders and deposited in his Thai bank account, via the SWIFT system, not utilizing the lower-cost Wise alternative. Not a Wise choice.
  15. Krungthai fees: Fees for receiving money from overseas transfer The Bank fee charges at 0.25% of the total amount transferred, minimum rate at 200 baht but not exceeding 500 baht You were charged the Wise fee, the SWIFT fee, the international transfer fee, and received the lower Krungthai currency exchange rate. Next time have them send baht to your Krungthai account. Small Wise fee, no swift fee, no overseas transfer fee (the money comes from Wise local Thai accounts), and better exchange rate.
  16. If they used Wise to send a SWIFT, then they have a Wise account, so they could have simply sent the money to your Thai bank using Wise. Wise would deduct a ~ 3.50-pound fee and then convert pounds to baht using the market rate. Then baht would have been deposited into your Thai account from their local account. 500 pounds = 22,750 baht https://wise.com/gb/send-money/
  17. That's strange. The line from the tank splits......one branch goes to the pump then to the house, the other goes into the ground to unknown? With the pump on, does it cycle for all faucets and toilets? If you turn the pump off, do you get any flow anywhere?
  18. I'm positive this will end well.
  19. He's on a 3-wheel e-scooter, not necessarily a disability device. Those can move upwards of 40 km/h. He blew through the intersection without stopping. Idiot. White line/no white line..........no matter. Bicycles and trikes and e-scooters should never assume right-of-way.
