  1. I recall seeing one in the parking garage. Haven't been there in a couple years, but expect it's still there.
  2. Looking at other surgeries available locally........coronary bypass or valve replacement under $15K, hip or knee replacement around $10K.....I would bet his required surgeries would be less than a commercial repatriation flight. But a gofundme free flight and free surgery from NHS would be the most economical option if they're having difficulties with their insurance carrier.
  3. Expensive, but not a quarter million dollars. They got a quote for a private emergency evacuation jet from Thailand to England. Commercial airliner, full row plus nurse, should start at around $25K.
  4. She dropped her baby, it had a seizure, and she dumped the child in a canal. Was the child dead when disposed of? Or still jerking and flailing from the effects of the head trauma? Whatever. Bail it is.
  5. You can send email from your phone? Attach photo from phone memory, send to your laptop. Otherwise you can transfer via bluetooth from phone to laptop. If you need a clear copy, any copy shop in the nearest soi can scan your passport onto your USB for 10 baht.. That's probably the best option, as you should always have a good electronic copy of your passport available.
  6. Reading the linked article in the Daily Mail, there was no claim that the insurance company is refusing to pay medical expenses. There was the statement that "the couple's medical bills have piled up," but no indication that any claims have been denied. It seems the full amount embegged is solely for the return flight. From the article: I would take from this that repatriation costs were not included in the insurance policy. It appears that they want to purchase a private air ambulance for the flight home.
  7. You can visit the Wise website and follow instructions. https://wise.com/help/articles/2977959/how-do-i-send-money-with-wise If unclear, there are dozens of Youtube videos explaining the process.
  8. "In Bali, weed is also highly illegal. The possession, sale, and consumption of marijuana in Bali is punishable with 10 years in prison. " They carried weed in their bags to Bali? They must have been high!
  9. Who would be foolish enough to carry vape pens or cannabis oil products across international borders? Doesn't matter if it's legal (or illegal but not enforced) where you currently are, with or without prescription. If it's legal there, you can buy it there. Otherwise...........stupid prizes.
  10. Chairs and tables are taxed to use the roads? Amazing Thailand!
  11. Which embassy and for what type of visa? Maybe call the embassy and ask?
  12. In order to get an appointment, you will need a residency certificate, health certificate, and scan code you receive after doing a few hours of online training. Residency certificates from Chang Wattana if you have a 90-day report receipt, otherwise a trip to the embassy for the notarized residency affidavit. You need to take the computerized theory exam and the physical reaction tests, but not the in-car driving test. You will receive a 5-year license. DLT e-learning https://dlt-elearning.com/
  13. You can renew up to one year after expiration.
  14. I believe that's the "rental" fee for the meter, either electric or power. Variable rates may either be due to days in billing cycle, or more likely due to government rebates or reductions.....plus tax.
  15. Your insurance could run around $2k/year......under 6000 baht/month. For example https://www.healthcareinternational.com/annual with lifetime renewal and repatriation. i'm sure you can find a decent small house for under 10k baht. Rent a furnished efficiency for much less than that.......temporarily. Spend six months scouting out the area to find where you want to live. Our electric bill runs about 1000/month, water about 50-100. Internet and phone and TV package is 500/month. (Thai TV package for the wife)
  16. $2000/month? In Thailand? How do you plan to spend 70,000 baht/month, considering booze and women are not essentials? Rent a small house, hang out at the beach, eat decent food. You should be fine with half that. Your internet business will cover your medical insurance. Coverage at your age around $2K/year.
  17. Thank you for your input. It is truly appreciated. Consider me enlightened.
  18. It's hypothetical. Doesn't have to be a bank. Could be a hospital, or a 7-11, or a car dealership, or a food court. It's about situational awareness.
  19. It's not pointless at all. If you decide to visit a bank or office where the customer service staff wear masks and expect you to do also, and you want.......customer service........then just wear a mask. On the another hand, if you want to be ignored, given minimal attention, or possibly asked to leave, then go ahead and stand up for your "rights."
  20. Of course, lady with silly makeup is blaming the "microsleep." Next up, cowperson tatooist blames "brake failure" on the part of the tattoo gun.
  21. I read that the aspirin restrictions were due to people treating Dengue fever with too much aspirin.
  22. A Google search comes up with this: https://apkcombo.com/section38/th.go.immigration.section38 Section38 APP Application provider of Immigration Bureau - According to section 38 of the 1979 immigration act, "House owners, heads of household, landlords or managers of hotels who accommodate foreign nationals on a temporary basis who stay in the kingdom legally, must notify the local immigration authorities within 24 hours from the time of arrival of the foreign national via Mobile Application But might be better to go directly to Google Play for the download onto your cellphone. You might need to set your cellphone location in Google Play to Thailand.
  23. Well, of course. You move into a residence, you need to report it. A visa application usually goes thru an embassy outside of Thailand, so immigration in Thailand may not necessarily be notified. Regardless...........how many people who fill out those forms, like the former TM6, decide to change plans upon landing at the airport?
