  1. Yes, a post code lottery. But my mother had an ambulance twice within 30 minutes in south of Glasgow. So, it can be fairly fast if the condition is serious. The wait occurred at the Queen Elizabeth hospital, the second time to get a bed. She had excellent treatment.
  2. Need immigrants in UK to help pay taxes which are used for the pensions
  3. Most on the far right are Islamophobic. My mother only decided she liked Jewish people when she found out they killed Muslims. Devout member of the Hang'em & Flog'em brigade since 1955. I have heard all far-right fascist lunacies prior to her death. I doubt Satan will let her into Hell.
  4. Total bigot who has lots of useful idiots following him who are making him richer.
  5. How unusual, this if adhered to will remove the licenses from most Thai drivers
  6. Had lawyers say the Thai legal system is impossible to deal with for Scottish/English legal firms as the Thai system has priority in Thailand - Not a surprise. So make a Thai Will.
  7. Yup, same thing in Thailand on a big funeral pyre. Although, one suggestion the OH had was that he would have me mummified so that we could both be burnt together - an even bigger funeral pyre! Given that I would dead, that does not worry me.
  8. A soft southern Irish accent is very pleasant to listen to.
  9. On the right I would suggest the Economist as a fairly (but not always) rational decent source of information. Guardian, leftwing but too London-centric. Telegraph was good in the past, now just a pretentious version of the Daily Mail ever since it got rid of decent journalists - e.g. Peter Oborne. Daily Mail disconnected from reality with extreme biases. Mirror is as bad leftwing as DM & Sun rightwing - all more useful as regards their absorbency abilties as toilet paper. Recent media that has emerged with limited less obvious biases: Bylines, Tortoise, and few others I cannot call to mind. Al-Jazeera - bearing in mind obvious biases. NO Chinese media is trustworthy as all dance to the CCP tune. BBC not trustworthy as it is/was completely for Brexit (bias from Laura Kuenssberg was most blatant), 100% pro-Union (no balance from many BBC commentators - blatant bias from many, if not all BBC commentators).
  10. For those capable of comprehension Explained: the history of progress in tackling antimicrobial resistance (AMR) | News | Wellcome This from the Wellcome Foundation, the UKs most important medical research foundation, equivalent of the HHMI in the USA
  11. Yes, I remember this as well being told the SE England had sunny weather. 1 million trees down, if I remember correctly. All predictions are only that, only predictions with probability of happening. No guarantees that they will never happen.
  12. Need to know whether this is acurate given that it is the Daily Torygraph which is no longer regarded as a quality news paper. On a par with Daily Bile with pretensions.
  13. Using antibiotics when you have no infection is a really really stupid idea. This drives antibiotic resistance, and means that when individuals do get an infection is it might not be curable. All antibiotic usage must be when required and nothing extra. Extra info - antibiotic usage in livestock to generate more profit is another major problem behind resistance.
  14. This is 1 key thing required, apart from elimination of corruption.
  15. Who wants to stay in Britain?
  16. good info, will avoid private hospitals in CR
  17. You missed UK on your list - prime example - London centre of world money-laundering.
  18. Maybe the poster is an AI. Although, there are some doubts about the "I" part of AI.

Depends on the cheese, mature cheese (due to the relevant microbial consortia destroying bad bacteria - hence mature cheeses good reputation for being a food product over thousands of years) are quite resistant to being contaminated by bad bacteria due to excessive quanities of Lactobacilli - in most fermented foods. However, short life cheese can be contaminated by bad bacteria such as Listeria monocytogenes which kills, also by Mycobacterium bovis (a source of tuberculosis). Public health measures are to protect. Older people, such as many of the Asean Now members, would be quite vulnerable to bad food poisoning from contaminated food.
  20. Agree, any of my ex-students who have travelled to Thailand have travelled as independent travellers, none have come in organised groups.
  21. Will never happen. Need to fix corruption then there will be enough money to tackle this problem. Without fixing corruption, chances of success in any form of poverty alleviation are minimal. Elimination is fantasy.
  22. Agreed, but I assume this is concerning excessive violence just short of children being needing to go to hospital. Thais seem to have a reaction to problem with excessive reactions. Thais are not necessarily happy smiley people.
  23. Those who hit children are not competent as parents.
