I once sat next to a guy in a Pattaya bar that told me he was an undercover cop from Aus that had been here 9 months. No reason not to believe him except maybe the fact undercover cops might know not to tell random strangers they're an undercover cop 😀

People actually going to City Hall to complain about bikes on beach road footpath 😆 I think you may be living in the wrong country if that's got you so riled up. I walk beach road path nearly every morning and it's a lot less bikes than say 5-10 years ago. There may be the odd random, but most of the bikes I see are carrying food to the beach chair groups and they seem careful. I'm always more concerned with Falang push bike riders on the path than the Thai food carriers on mopeds

Instead of a new thread I'll just tag it in here. Anyone know of any big Australia Day parties on Sunday 26th? I know Wombat & Kiwi Bar always do one as does I-Rovers in LK Metro. Any others?

This is in the soi bukhao market area down by South Pattaya Road. Your "massage lady scoop" was about demolishing all of soi 19 and 21 of Soi Bukhao to build a hotel. That's a long way from the Market.

There was originally 13 countries, including UK, getting 15 days visa exempt. In August 2023 they added another 12 countries and increased the visa exempt period to 45 days. So now it's 25 countries allowed 45 days visa exempt
-
People from those countries don't need a visa for Vietnam as they can get visa exempt for 45 days. They do of course need an e-Visa if they want to stay 90 days

I think people are missing the point. It doesn't matter the cost of the steak meal at 239 baht or 99 baht if you purchased the 3 month specials card. It's a matter of why would a restaurant serve an inedible meal as the most expensive meal on their menu, therefore making people think it might actually be good 😆 Actually I walked passed CC on Saturday and they've dropped the price to 219 baht so it might even taste worse now 😀

Just go to the forum home page as per link below and scroll down until you see Bangkok under "Central Thailand Forum" https://aseannow.com/?_fromLogin=1#

Did you mean to post in the Pattaya forum? I would have thought if looking for something in Bangkok then you'd likely get better info in the Bangkok forum?
-
It's a 239 baht small 150 gram steak and it's the most expensive meal on their menu (so I would assume it should be their best meal). The 99 baht price is only if you purchase a separate "Specials Card" whereby all specials are 99 baht for 3 months.

Me either, so lucky it's not about you. OP indicated he could come in with a non-imm O visa and asked if he could still use an agent to get a 12 month extension in Pattaya. In my experience that is a definite no with Agent Maneerat even though they were highly recommended to me. I also asked a couple of random agents on Bukhao and they also said no.
-
Not true. As we are talking Maneerat on soi 13/2 they wanted nothing to do with me once I already had a 90 day non-imm O. Even when I had tourist visa with 800k in bank going to non-imm O they wanted 24,000 baht if 800k baht in bank for 3 months prior instead of 25,000 baht immediately with no money in bank. Their business model is 25k for non-imm O and 12 month extension with no money in bank. Anything different to that they don't care. Funny thing is, because Maneerat wouldn't deal with me already having a non-imm O, I did the 12 month extension myself. Took only 20 minutes at immigration and cost only 1900 baht. Here's my DIY experience after Maneerat declined helping

Vietnam visa is for 90 days, my Mate has been doing it back to back for 2 years with no problem. Only other option he says is to get married

So it's good for 99 baht member card special but impossible to chew. I think someone posted early in the thread, why would a restaurant put up a steak meal that's so bad that you dont want to finish it, no matter the price
-
Cheap Charlies 150 gram steak meal is 239 baht as a Saturday special, and tasted like leather. Witherspoons sell a good 200 gram steak meal for 299 baht as Wednesday special, so Cheap Charlies definitely not the best value around when you consider taste an important aspect 😀

Well lucky we don't have that BS in Thailand, which is where this is. Who cares about what Americans would do with it?

So if you just came from there how do you not know it's not one-way?

Aussie Savings Account Interest

Where I live part time in Maroochydore all the older 65+ people still seem to use over the counter transactions. I can relate as at 59 I refuse to use the order kiosks at McDonalds and KFC in Pattaya Damn new-fangled techology 😆 -
I understand this revised tax clause was never intended to tax retirees living in Thailand on a pension. It is meant to catch wealthy Thai's earning income overseas. Until someone says they were forced to pay Thai tax on their aussie pension I will remain as usual without doing a Thai tax return. Good luck to you trying to find an exact answer though as there isn't one, no-one knows.

Paying a fee to withdraw your own cash making news. Commonwealth bank announced a $3 withdrawal fee for cash last month, luckily due to the public outrage Comm Bank quickly cancelled the fee. However now Bendigo bank has announced a $2.50 fee for withdrawing cash over the counter calling it a 'service fee'. Meanwhile interest rates are still good with predictions mixed for RBA rate cut on 18 Feb.
