Don't forget to download the McD app, always has fantastic deals in Pattaya that make it actually worth the baht 😉

Thanks for the input guys

I need some new reading glasses and would appreciate any recommendations for decent glasses shops. I have a recent prescription from Australia so hoping they just accept that rather than going through the test again. I see a couple of stores in Central festival and one decent sized store on soi bukhao but just thought I'd see if anyone had some good advice

Do I need an e-visa for Thailand?
Pattaya57 replied to leosmith's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
No need for e-visa. American's get 60 days visa exempt, just show your passport and boarding pass to the immigration officer -
Azure Hotel (formally Centara) Soi 15 Seized/closed
Pattaya57 replied to scubascuba3's topic in Pattaya
Yep the notice on the door is in English from a US Court. How does the US seize a hotel in Thailand with that? -

Pattaya57 replied to scubascuba3's topic in Pattaya
If I've got this right, Centara sold the hotel to a 35 year Chinese criminal who has now had all his assets seized worldwide by the United States. Why didn't Thailand just kick the criminal out and seize the property for themselves? -

I really don't understand cases like this. When a business gets into financial trouble it can go into "Administration" whereby business still runs until it is in better health or sold. This way the business retains it's value and all the staff keep their jobs. In this case, to seize and close the hotel just seems stupid. The value of the hotel would have plummeted and all the staff have lost their jobs. If the point of seizing assets is to return as much fraudulent money as possible then they should have retained the value of the asset by running it under Administration. And what happens now, does it just become an abandoned building eyesore taking up prime real estate while court cases take years? -
One is on Soi Bukhao in Pattaya and another is in soi 5 in Jomtien

What OP describes is the way it works all over the world. Monthly rate cheaper than weekly rate which is cheaper than daily rate. To expect them to just halve the monthly rate for 2 weeks extra is ridiculous

I've never used any food delivery app as I live 5-10 minute walk from many restaurants. But I also just don't get it. If your food can take up to 1-2 hours to deliver as said in this thread then surely your food is cold and disgusting (as it appears transport is slow not the actual cooking)

Motorbikes that drive on the sidewalk.
Pattaya57 replied to BarBoy's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
So you've been in Thailand long enough to speak Thai but you had no idea Thai's ride motorbikes on the foot path. Yeah right, just another Bob Smith thread -
Oz $ losing so much value to the Baht

Are you just making threads about every possible scenario? You posted that doing a 90 day report in person was too hard so was going to fly out of Thailand without it, then you wanted to do DTV extension in Pattaya and now you want to do a border run through Poipet. If you're in Pattaya why wouldn't you just do one of the many same day border runs from there. Will cost you 3000 baht and you're back in your hotel by 2:30 pm

How's an aussie expat going to pick up an Aldi sim? You pretty much need to just keep your old sim going when you leave like I did, not buy a new one when you're already in Thailand
-
Yeah but I'm lazy, everyone already has my telstra sms number so not changing to save $20 😀
-
I still have a Telstra Sim. The best part is once it expired I still got 6 months before they delete account and for some reason I still recieved sms in Thailand even though expired (only out calls/sms are blocked) So I have now changed plan to 6 months with limited data/calls for $35. l just let it expire, and still get sms as before so will sign up again closer to 6 months expired to keep it going (so $35 per year effectively)

How would you know? Just another made up thread topic as you are not here to make such comments

I'm very happy my Condo follows the law and no people are allowed for <30 days rental (6 or 12 months rental only) Very peaceful and quiet condo block without all the riff-raff
-
Why do you care, you don't own or live in a condo in Pattaya

Or we could stick to helping the OP whereby he can feel confident he can change baht to get £1000 at any TT Exchange booth, if he needs more he can go to TT head office on 2nd road as already explained by Pattaya locals
-
Well in fairness those "others" actually live in Pattaya whereas you don't, so maybe we know better than your generic "forex in a tourist town" logic
-
I'm just wondering why @chiang mai thinks anyone would want to carry more than 43,500 baht cash around in Pattaya to change to £1000... every booth can handle that amount
