You're so behind the times. Article 5 is dead. Trump is allied now with Putin. NATO is neutered without the U.S. Whether the U.S. literally leaves NATO or not doesn't matter. They are out in effect. Morons, huh? Who are the morons?

Unfortunately Europe (and Canada. etc.) just hoped for the best (that Trump would lose or if not, not be as explicitly pro Putin as he has become). So Europe though largely with good intentions lacks the preparation, budget, or unified leadership to instantly step up to what's needed. Yes, that's divorce from the USA because the USA is now with the autocratic world. So because they are unprepared they will probably cling to a false hope that they can still benefit from even a very weak alliance with the U.S. Pretty scary times for sure. Plus of course great encouragement to Xi to grab Taiwan. Fools think surrendering will prevent a global war. So stupid! Surrenering will make a global war almost definite.
