  1. Worse than that. For an Interventional Radiology procedure Siriraj quoted me twice the going rate of Western Hospitals. Also it is an outpatient procedure for which they wanted a 3 days admission, with a family member present for the duration. I showed them the middle finger. Perth or maybe Vietnam or Malaysia may be the alternative. Cigna issued a warning about Bumrungrad related to unusually high charges, my plan is based on Swiss prices.
  2. So far number of Kasikorn and Bangkok Bank accounts have been hit.
  3. The irony.. Whatever "restriction" you don't have...
  4. Try to read the relevant thread, I can assure you you that is has been slapped on my Kasikorn account. And you'll see that it is likely to affect us all.
  5. This is where you get it all wrong, there is indeed a 50k per transaction threshold above which the facial recognition is required, had if for about a year at BB, but now there is another daily limit of 50K restricting the total amount you may transact via mobile banking out your account. There is a long thread, about this situation, including one guy with a heart attack who had his wife running around to borrow money as he was unable to go to the nearest agency to make an old fashioned transfer.
  6. Does this go hand in hand with the 50k daily limit on bank transactions and hospitals starting to refuse third party payments, etc.
  7. Go down to newsagent/booksop, buy a good book, Newsweek, Der Spiegel, L'Equipe and walk to the nearest bar to have Coffee with a few Croissants, Lunch, Movie, Dinner ... Couldn't be happier.
  8. I'd recommend there was only one emoticon: the "+1" to express full agreement. Anything else would, in a sane world, require a proper post anyhow.
  9. I am lucky indeed, I was on a fun&diving trip, had just booked my dives, about 11 am, wanted a coffee so went down to Starbucks, walked past Kangaroo gave my best smile to the girls who were setting up. Starbucks was full of pink, fat blondes, yuk. Retreated to K Bar and asked for a coffee there, big laugh all round and had my first Singh at 11 am. But there she was, she came to my room 3 days later and never left. She left Kangaroo a week after and worked with Jenny tours for a couple of years, until I got her pregnant.
  10. That's really back luck. I met a girl, who was on her first day at the Kangaroo bar so 15 years ago and I can hear her preparing dinner right now. Wasn't a bar fine though.
  11. Grooaan... Yet another MAGA thing.
  12. My first visit to Thailand was 1979, I must have spent three afternoons on barstools... Didn't want more, the guys there were about as articulate as Trump..
  13. If you read between Stickman's lines you'd think that Patpong is near dead, Soi Cowboy is struggling, Nana has changed and still reviewing its business model. Is this a bad thing? Stick himself thinks of resigning.
  14. We should get used to see Vietnam pushing ahead of Thailand, in most things..
  15. Nope, it is to the point. With one exception, my plan was to learn Thai, but try to find a language school for expats outside of Bangkok, Chiang Mai or, possibly, Phuket.
  16. "foolishness", can't remember anything foolish about the LTR process. The only thing that was mildly interesting is that immigration required my wife to sign off the cancellation of my current "Thai wife" extension of stay.
  17. Somos Norte Americanos vosotros sois Estadounidenses..
  18. Yep, gutter press..
  19. Not being a US citizen, Canadians ARE American.
