Does living in Thailand drive you to drink?
ignis replied to Don Giovanni's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Live here for over 21 years, never touched alcohol or even been into a Bar here Last time needed a drink went into a UK Pub 1990 a little bottle of OJ was 80p.. I needed a drink so had a pint of Shandy I remember clearly was 62 p, I thought at the time no wonder people drink with these prices. -
Mice and Rats get lots out in the sticks Here is no difference than UK, France & Portugal also lived out in the sticks. Use the cage, always have 3 set, you hear when you get one, if it is not one then easy to let out. Drop in a bucket of water quick death. Against the pellets and the glue, is a slow death + maybe another animal get stuck or eats the pellets. + where will they die ? follow the smell in 2 days sure to be in a difficult place to get to for the past 21 years living here catch at least 2+ a week.

Delaying Cataract Surgery - Any associated dangers?
ignis replied to ravip's topic in Health and Medicine
Price is confusing. 9 years ago price at a Private Eye Hospital from the Surgun herself - all in was 70,000 baht for both eyes Last December at Chula Hospital the price for the surgery was 15 - 16,000 baht per eye... dig a bit deeper = + Hospital fees + Nurse Fees + the Lens replacement.... Did not speak to the Sugen so not 100% price on the type of Lense but as a estimate told 25 - 30,000 baht per eye = Surgery + Lense + Fees + next day follow up visit -

As for coffee pot got a very old Electric Drip Filter coffee machine, bought in Lisbon Portugal in 1989 and it still works every morning, only problem not been able to find the paper filters for years, have some gold filters or make do with other cut down ones Always fancied a 'Smeg Drip Filter Coffee Machine' but looking at the price here guess will never own one https://shopee.co.th/SMEG-Drip-Coffee-Machine-เครื่องดริปกาแฟ-รุ่น-DCF02-ประกันศูนย์-1-ปี-i.45539070.13965193704?is_from_login=true

Never had milk or sugar - these days cut back 3 - 5 mugs a day + plain water the rest of the day.

Delaying Cataract Surgery - Any associated dangers?
ignis replied to ravip's topic in Health and Medicine
in 21 years of living here + a few different eye Drs never seen a He eye Dr.. The older Lady 4 years ago, more or less said until I had Surgery would need new glasses every year or 2 so that maybe the reason ? The slip of a girl eye Dr in December said lenses in new glasses would do very little As different days + times in a day my eyes can change, [earlier today both about the same, now the left eye in much worse].. reason was wondering about these Adjustable lenses -
Delaying Cataract Surgery - Any associated dangers?

have worn glasses all my life, from the age of around 12, most of this time always had Varifocals' 2012 Dr said have Cataracts in both eyes - + have the opp when it interferes with your daily life 2021 had more new glasses, Dr said waste of money to have Varifocals, so have Bifocals HATE them + 4 years on still hate them.. Last December Eye Dr said maybe time to have the Surgery, as yet still in 2 minds about it. So at 74 sure eyes change over the years, but at moment long distance see much better without glasses !! the bottom glasses are reading = difficult as cannot see my feet or were I am walking very clear.. My vision problem is 1 - 2 meters away [PC and TV} my PC Monitor is 32" had 32" for many years, wear glasses is a bit better but get neck pain holding my head so high to see out of the bottom of glasses. Question - has anyone tried or have them ?? Looks a good idea, but do they work ? Lots of things to think about Ryzen 7 U = 15 watt Ryzen 5 H = 28 watt Ryzen 5 HS = 35 watt this is very little difference in use - just how long the battery will last on a charge, the Ryzen 7 U is newer, + maybe 8% faster that a Ryzen 5 H [the Ryzen 7 7735HS is a lot faster + much higher price] Then comes the GPU Graphics, the old Vega 8 is far better than the newer found in many laptops 610M base graphics - best low cost GPU is AMD Radeon RX 5500M - the RX 7900M is the other end + high price For info all my life only had AMD, Both Desktops and Laptops had a few NVIDIA GeForce graphics, but always had problems, so changed a few years ago to ATI Radeon/AMD Radeon graphics so far in past 18 years never had a problem with these cards.....

At this moment Cherries are 259 baht per kg, yesterday Strawberries were down to 150 baht Kg also very good for Diabetics. Do not find Bananas' spike my blood sugar, every so often buy a bunch around 30 baht - 30 odd finger bananas which I like best, Crambrabbies were cheap also classed as a superfood for Diabetics Sugar in fruit is different than refined sugar, so in moderation is good for you

Are high end smartphones worth the money (to you)?
ignis replied to impulse's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
Not at all sure about Samsung, my Partner only ever buys mid range Samsung and is not interested in an other makes.. I have had 2 both appeared to have the same problem battery, the last one was Android 7 = potluck how long the battery last 30 mins to 2 days, and anything in-between potluck so very unreliable = had to go and buy another new phone 2 weeks later, so far Vivo has never let me down in 5 years. The other was a tablet, also battery - spent more time in the Service Centre than in my hands = both as new sat in there boxes unusable in a cupboard -

Did look at the Samsung Galaxy A06, new phone with a good deal on.. Same price at Samsung,co.th + all the other places 2,990 baht My present phone cost the same 5 years ago, Vivo, is still fine so could not see any reason to buy a new phone Have no reason or see any point in a high end phone, not for my needs.... -
We were with True for many years, about 4 years ago cancelled the yearly contract , we had to return the router/modem

That is a good idea, saves the expense and Hazzel of waiting on the phone for 45 + mins to UK So say they send every 2 years, in 10 years have only received 1 letter, the day it arrived re stamp mark was 14 months after posting in UK !!! Look on the Royal Mail website normal surface mail to Thailand = allow 12 weeks.. Every time my pension stops must phone them + every time ask them to always send via email. but they never do. It is that time again, so have a copy on PC so will print it out and send to them - hope no stoppage theis time
