AIS SIM central BKK 300mbps Rubbish
sometimewoodworker replied to SuperSilverHaze's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
You clearly have no understanding of the way that buildings and surroundings influence reception. That your workplace is in the centre of Bangkok makes zero difference to: how your building is constructed, where the cell tower is, how many people are connecting to the node, how much bandwidth they are using, the time of day, passing traffic, the weather, etc. in fact being in central Bangkok makes all of that even more possible to effect reception. Why do you think that companies Have fibre connections to their buildings and multiple Wi-Fi access points (though unlikely to be 6E capability) and why do you think that the cell technology allows piggybacking on Wi-Fi. You are probably in a concrete building, reenforced concrete buildings are not quite faraday cages but the structure certainly plays hell with fast reception (hence the Wi-Fi repeaters in most buildings) If you want the best chance of an excellent reception, work in a wood structure in the countryside within a short distance of a series of 5G cell sites with few young neighbours. Again you don’t understand due diligence, for that you need a SIM or e-SIM from the main providers, then a short term deal, they all have them, and check your reception. So back at you If you don't see the issue you need your head examined. Or at the very least understand that cell reception is not a Starbucks coffee where it doesn’t matter where you are you will always get the same (mediocre, in my opinion, ) product. Though thinking about it the further away from the source the warmer, or cooler, you beverage will be. -
AIS SIM central BKK 300mbps Rubbish
sometimewoodworker replied to SuperSilverHaze's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
I don’t see why you are complaining. There is never any guarantee of the speed you will get. It is always dependent on; where you are, if in a building- how it’s constructed, where the cell tower is, how many people are connecting to the node, how much bandwidth they are using, the time of day, passing traffic, the weather, and likely other factors. FWIW My connection varies between 31/80 to 325/374 on a 300/300 plan If you can’t be bothered to do due diligence and test the real world speeds in various conditions you only have your self to blame. It’s quite possible that no network will get good speeds in your workplace. You can hope that more cell sites will be installed -
It seems that you must have quite old SIMS as all the current ones are 3 sizes in one, you just detach the side you want. However there are SIM punches that will punch out either a micro or nano size sim. There is no problem in punching out a nano from a micro or regular SIM. The punch’s are widely available and probably any phone shop will have one and trim your SIM for a few Baht or free. I have one of the punches somewhere.

Video Call to Multiple Mobiles. Quick advice needed.
sometimewoodworker replied to dddave's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
Not quite. Requirements To live stream on mobile, you'll need: At least 50 subscribers. https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/9228390 but as I mentioned I haven’t done it so I didn’t check -
22mm is slightly too large, but if you don’t need it really tight then it’s OK

@Crossy you probably haven’t seen a reasonably competent scumble painter. It is just possible to distinguish between varnished wood and scumble if you look closely, but on a soffit it would be impossible. These doors are large hardboard panels and probably over 50 years in daily use This is a clear idea of what it looks like There are scumble painters working in Thailand.

Live stream on YouTube then nobody’s stuck with an app they don’t have. You can also make the stream available as a recording. QA No I haven’t done it as I have had no need. Yes there are numerous examples of it functioning perfectly. The recording of the live stream is available within minutes of the stream ending. -
It’s rather difficult to compare the M series chips with Intel as the M series uses the RAM for graphics and CPU while the intel doesn’t, so the integrated is more efficient but looses out on the required amount needed, for your use going up to 24Gb will probably be beneficial here is a comparison of 8 to 16 the 16 to 24 is likely to see an additional speed up

Diagram 1 disagrees with your statement.

That depends on your definition of obsolete. I have a Mac Mini 2008 version that is (or will be when I manage my supply of round tuits) providing music storage. Until the end of last year my 2010 Mac Mini server was running my email since the program wasn’t updated beyond Snow Leopard. So the useful, though limited use, life of Macs for me is vastly longer than 2 years I have an iPhone 3GS (12 years old) that is locked to SoftBank that is a perfect iPod resident on one of my Kenwood boomboxes. I have an iPhone 4s that is also locked to SoftBank that will be a perfect iPod resident on another of my Kenwood boomboxes. I have several more of the Kenwood players that could usefully use more old phones so if you feel like donating any 30 pin interface phones I will be happy to accept them and give them a new lease on life. I do have a few iPods that probably will be resuscitated by putting in flash memory (when I manage my supply of round tuits) so though the old phones would be useful they are not vital just would be nice to have. I also have iMazing so if there is any data that you haven’t managed to extract I can assist, though you may prefer to reset them to factory standard before letting them into the wild if you allow their escape. ????

The heat is either retained by the roof or reflected back to the roof in Diagram 2 the hot air is usually exhausted from the roof space as the barrier is never airtight so the roof air will also heat up

The base M2 Pro has 25% more CPU (available 50% more) 62% more GPU (available 90% more) the 16GB of unified memory is probably the minimum, the M2 Pro can double that. The biggest mistake is buying a computer that will do exactly what you need today unless you envision buying a new model In about 2 years. I made that mistake once with the iMac I bought in 2015 as it could not be upgraded. I didn’t make that mistake with all the other machines. Only you can decide how much you want to spend. My experience is that my needs have increased over time so if you are looking at a 10 year usable life span then apple’s prices are something you only cry about once but enjoy for years. Spend too little and you are likely to want to trade it in long before you need to.

Apple sales in biggest fall since 2019
sometimewoodworker replied to Social Media's topic in Apple Products
Wow is me!!! Apple is in free fall!! It’s the the same “news” article as it has been for the last 20 years. And apple has just got bigger and better also in the computer market if it’s sales have fallen they have fallen less than any other maker. -
No I don’t, as if it did that it would not be acting as a radiant barrier but as a reflective barrier. the fact that the more expensive film sheet is silvered on both sides and if placed with an air gap between the roof material and the film allows it to be both a reflective and a radiant barrier allows for even more confusion. I have an empirical test of the cheaper paper backed film giving a drop in temperature of about 22 degrees C so while the paper could have got to the higher temperature (59C I didn’t check) the surface of the radiant barrier silver face was at 37 C or ambient air temperature Absolutely, no dispute there. Agreed That is where the problem arises, since the barrier does not (in my test) raise its temperature enough to allow that please let me know how exactly that is achieved?

Indeed it is. It’s the rest of the statement that is neither true nor consistent with fact.

While I agree that Apple is making a major profit on the extra RAM, to get a 2TB in an external enclosure you are going to have to spend about $430 if you want Read: 3400MBs / Write: 2900MBs The $200 will get you Read: 560MBs / Write 530MBs so it’s going to throttle the IO by a significant amount. If you want a Orico Thunderbolt 3 40Gbps M.2 NVME SSD Enclosure Gray (SCM2T3-G40) it’s about $160 then you have another $250+ for the memory. I haven’t seen any Thunderbolt 4 enclosures in Thailand.

That is an interesting observation, false, but interesting. I am amazed by the interesting theories propounded that are not supported by physics. At a given temperature a black body will radiate heat, a polished silver (white) body will radiate very little. The statement that “that barrier converts radiated heat to convected heat” would confuse any physics teacher who would be unable to explain it. There would certainly be a modest degree of warming of the air immediately beside the barrier and certainly ventilation will assist. However the heat gain by convection is much less that would be radiated if the barrier was not present. It is not converted to convected heat, the majority is retained by the tiles becoming hotter.

It is TOT and virtually every package is a special promotion And I may have misremembered as SWMBO pays the bill so it maybe 360. We were originally on a 30/10 service but when I called them a couple of years after installing that looking for the 400/400 package I was told that wasn’t available here in deepest Issan, so I was given 300/300 and the original price dropped while the speed jumped 10 X. What’s not to like?

It’s almost certainly actually coming from China and the ineligible for pickup is likely because the number allocated to the stores have been booked already. All the larger items have been shipped from China which matches with the week to two weeks required. If they were coming from Singapore 4 days would be more likely given apple’s superb logistics.

You need the correct key words as Lazada has it though as l brought several rolls and handles with me from Japan I’m unlikely to ever need more

Fibre via Wi-Fi, assuming you have 5GHz capability will be 5 to 20 times faster unless you have a solid 5G connection. My network is limited to 300 300 as I only pay 260 a month and my iPad regularly sees 260Mbps ~ 300Mbps so unless you are seeing that on your network the fibre will smoke the OTA connection.
