Seriously? That’s the kind of ‘logic’ and ‘reasoning’ used by 12-year-olds. Let me ask you this. You probably think you’re a pretty intelligent guy. Now imagine this. You’re out on foot on a vast open and flat plain, with nowhere to hide. Then someone in a car appears and starts shooting at you with an elephant rifle, with a view to kill you for fun. How long do you think you will last with all your savvy and intelligence? And by the way, people are also protein. There’s a reason that hunting down and eating people is frowned upon, isn’t there?

Let me quote Luke 6:41-42 to you: “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

Trump Mulls Action Against Iran’s Nuclear Program

I would be very surprised if Trump mulls anything other than how many Big Macs to eat today. -

I find this post quite disturbing, to be honest. Alcohol should not play such an important part in anyone’s life. Might I suggest AA? -
Musk calls Canada's Trudeau "insufferable tool"
rudi49jr replied to Woke to Sounds's topic in Political Soapbox
Trudeau has more decency, empathy and common sense in the tip of his little finger than Musk has in his whole body. -
If you want links for USA healthcare has become big business, there are literally thousands to be found on Google. Doctors I don’t know, but nurses, hospital admin and staff and such usually don’t get paid too much. The problem is that big pharma and insurance companies want to make big bucks, for their shareholders, their corporate managers, ceo’s and whatnot. Health care has become a huge money making business, which it shouldn’t be. At least not on this scale. I remember a few years ago some young punk millionaire bought a company that made a certain medicine and immediately raised the price of that medicine by like 10,000 per cent. It is just greed.

Sometimes you just have to pragmatic. ‘The enemy of my enemy is my friend’, or something like that. But still, even though progressive leaders may agree with Musk on this issue, it’s very likely that they have very different ideas about how to fix this. So I’m not at all sure this will be a workable coalition.

7 Traffic Policemen Surrender Over Assault on Policeman's Son

I’m sure a lot of people do care. Just not those who can/should do something about this atrocious behavior. -
Yes, that is certainly a difficult choice. On the one hand you have Russia, a fascist dictatorial state ruled by a ruthless kleptocracy, the economy is going down the toilet, no freedom of speech (unless you toe the official Kremlin line), any criticism can either land you in jail or the gulag for 10-20 years, or dead as a result of falling out of windows, poisoning, or you just disappear. And if you’re a poor male between 18 and 55, you stand the chance of being draughted into the army and sent to the front as cannon fodder. On the other hand you have the EU. That is certainly not an ideal society, far from it, but I’m quite sure that most people in Europe (those with more than two functioning brain cells, that is) would much rather live in the EU than in Russia. So actually not a very difficult choice at all.

Calling the Democrats far-left and Trump/MAGA ‘center’ clearly shows how much (or rather, how little) the OP knows about politics and life in general. Trump is not center, Tulsi Gabbard is not center, Scott Bessent is not center, Pete Hegseth is not center, Pam Bondi is not center, Kristi Noem is not center. The list goes on. Trump wanted Matt Gaetz for AG, for crying out loud. How is that ‘center’? Hopefully Trump will make a huge mess of things, and he’s probably going to wreck the American economy anyway, with his tariffs and deporting 10-20 million ‘illegal aliens’. And then in 2026 (if there are still free and fair elections) we will see what the voters have to say. Until then, we’re just going to have to ride out this sh!tstorm.

Trump Begins Intelligence Briefings Ahead of Return to White House
rudi49jr replied to Social Media's topic in World News
There have been many reports from previous Trump staff members who all told the same story: that Trump had no interest in any briefings, intelligence or otherwise, if it was longer than 2 pages and not filled to the brim with pictures, graphs and things like that. Keep dreaming…. -
Trump Begins Intelligence Briefings Ahead of Return to White House
rudi49jr replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Trump and intelligence briefings, now there’s an oxymoron if ever I saw one. Hope they make the briefings short and sweet, and with lots of pictures in them, otherwise the Donald’s very short attention span is going to throw a spanner in the works.- 32 replies

Would Donald Trump’s tariffs hurt US consumers?
rudi49jr replied to simple1's topic in Political Soapbox
Of course tariffs are going to hurt the consumer, it doesn’t take a mastermind to figure that out. Who do you think is ultimately going to pay for that 10-20-50% price hike? -
Not telling, don’t want this place to become overrun with expats and tourists like so many other places in Thailand.

How much do you pay for health insurance?
rudi49jr replied to rudi49jr's topic in Insurance in Thailand
X-ray, CT scan and exercise test with heart monitor and breathing gas analysis. There’s plenty of evidence now that long covid is real. In my country (The Netherlands) alone there are some 100,000 people with serious complaints. Some can do little else than just lie in bed. It has been discovered this year (or last year?) that long covid has to do with the disruption in different ways of energy production on the cellular level, in the mitochondria. Exercising too hard or too much is actually counter productive, it can damage you for weeks or even months. But there are many different levels of complaints. Like I said, some can do little else than just lie in bed. I could still function on a very basic level, although I had to stop working completely for a few months. -
How much do you pay for health insurance?

I was suffering from extreme fatigue last year, and have had everything checked out: heart, lungs, intestinal tract, blood, the whole nine yards. They couldn’t find anything, so in the end the conclusion was that I have long covid. There is no way to definitely diagnose long covid, though, so it’s kind of a last resort diagnosis. I’m doing a lot better now, mainly thanks to a low/mid intensity training program especially for long covid patients. I’m not nearly back to normal, before the fatigue started, but a lot better than I was one year ago. It’s all relative….
