  1. But in 2014 it was a (I promise that there will be no coup) military coup led by Prayuth and the army, against an elected civil caretaker government preparing for an election. This time, will it be another military coup led by general X to support Prayuth staying in power?
  2. But, but, he and the Trump supporters have experts in everything.
  3. If they got nothing where did the empty folders come from? It seems like they actually found folders with nothing in them. So where did the folder contents go to?
  4. Would that also apply to Hilary Clinton who was investigated and nothing was found? Surely it can't be another "nothing there burger"? LOL.
  5. Of course they can. There is however a huge difference between getting cover sheets from EBay and getting the real thing.
  6. To the moderators. Is it possible to close this topic. After reading most of the 19 pages I find that it has wandered so far away from what one person said 58 years ago into a mire of, he said/no he didn't, accusations of racism to and from all and sundry into back biting and back stabbing. To be honest while the thread started out with good enough intentions it has evolved/devolved into a my Dad is bigger than your Dad. Oh no he isn't/oh yes he is. It reminds me of an old military joke. If you can't take a joke then you shouldn't have joined. The response is, I can take a joke but this is a ................. pantomime. This is one of the few threads I wish I had not joined. Edit. 21 pages now.
  7. It is so nice to be in such good company.
  8. As far as I understand from other topics and newspaper reports, Every foreigner who enters Thailand for whatever timespan is classed as a tourist. That includes expats going and returning to their homes in Thailand, every non Thai who crosses the border, even for an hour or two and doesn't stay overnight but may visit 3 or 4 times in a week, every non Thai who may come to do market shopping on a daily basis. To me a tourist is somebody who enters a country for a week or several or even a month on holiday. Perhaps they will stay in one place or maybe move around the country a few days here or there. Those would be the truer numbers of tourism and not the silly numbers that TAT spew out on a daily basis.
  9. Thank you for that wonderful piece of advice. As somebody who lives in rural Thailand, you won't object to passing out your address so that people can dump soi dogs with you for you to deal with.
  10. And you personally know this information, (no links or proof that I can see), how exactly? Are you Trump's personal trusted confidante and BFF? Or is your imagination running wild. You claim it, You own it. How about YOU backing it up?
  11. Well according to these people you can roll armoured windows down. https://www.armormax.com/blog/can-armored-car-operable-windows/#:~:text=In other words%2C can you,The quick answer is yes. In other words, can you roll down bulletproof windows after the armoring process takes place? The quick answer is yes. The long answer is that while we do include operable windows on a majority of the armored cars we manufacture we don’t always recommend them for every type of environment. We work extremely hard to make our ballistic glass operable and strive our best to make the windows roll up and down as far as possible in every vehicle, but in some countries and in on some armoring packages (i.e. level B7) there is a trade-off between armoring the car and making the windows operable or not completely bulletproof if the windows are rolled down.
  12. If the bulletproof window cannot be opened, why didn't he open the door and speak with her?
  13. You know absolutely nothing about me at all. Thailand has been my home for over 20 years and I have an 18 year old son in M6. I know that he will be leaving home for uni in Chiang Rai next year and that he also has no idea where he will work or live when he finishes uni. We know that whilst he always has a home here, there is no work and nothing for him unless he wants to be a farmer and live on less than hand to mouth. This government and the many more before have absolutely no idea about how to run a country without corruption. None of them could ever get a real job without contacts or corruption. I have been coming to Thailand for work, living here and based here for offshore work since 1993, and every time I came back I found that the majority of Thais were poorer and less happy than before. I live in rural Thailand and talk to my Thai neighbours and friends and most of them are deeply unhappy with their own government and the heavy handed control of the military. They truly hate Prayuth and his cronies but looking around there is not a lot of choice. At the next election (if there is one) I don't think that the government will be able to cheat as blatantly as before and they may have to call out the troops. That may not work either as there is a large part of the military who are unwilling conscripts and may simply refuse to obey the orders of their "officers and so called superiors".
  14. They guy above is doing what HE feels is right and NOT what you think is wrong. Perhaps many of us believe that we are also a part of Thailand. Many of us have Thai wives and children, both direct and indirect families. Our homes are here with our families. Some have businesses, many have homes. I suspect that a lot of us are not happy with the way that Thailand is run by a bunch of jackbooted coup makers, but at the same time we also understand that there is little to nothing that we can do about it. Are you saying that we don't have the right to complain when we see injustices carried out? If you wish to keep out of politics and religion, that is YOUR choice, but please don't tell people that if they don't like it to go home. For many of us, Thailand IS our home. It certainly has been my home for over 20 years.
  15. Most people of his era especially around where he lived thought he was pretty much correct. Even more so now. Thank you for the link. It is a long read and to me it proved that Enoch Powell was a politician with principles compared to those of his colleagues at the time, and certainly with far more principles than the current politicians worldwide.
  16. There are more Thais upcountry in rural Thailand, than in the cities.
  17. I live in rural Kamphaeng Phet and I find less Thais are wearing masks out here. I carry a mask but don't normally wear it and so far nobody locally has asked me to put it on in any of the shops or markets.
  18. If the maximum wattage is I disagree completely. According to Ohm's law the safe wattage is volts times amps. If you double the volts, then you must half the amps which gives you the same safe wattage. As other posters have mentioned, staying safe with about 7.5 amps at 220 volts is good. As others have mentioned it is a lot easier to buy a locally made cable. When I got my house wired up many years ago I made the mistake of ordering cable that was twice the size I needed. It cost me more but at least my cables won't overheat and melt.
  19. 5 hours ago, mania said: Ok move along now nothing to see here Perhaps you are the one who should move along. He has related a first hand experience that has happened to himself and his wife. You were not there and as such you have NO idea what was said or what happened. You OTOH seem to be wrapped up in what the Thai paperwork says, which is 1 not always correct 2 not always relevant 3 not always adhered to ALL Immigration Offices and officers are supposed to adhere to the same schedule, but each office and officer is different. I prefer believe the person that it actually happened to, rather than a keyboard warrior who was not there and has no idea what was said.
  20. Both Indian millionaires will arrive in their private jets. The rest will follow in the style of Indian railways. https://www.businessinsider.com/indias-trains-are-insanely-crowded-2016-2#indian-railways-is-one-of-the-worlds-largest-employers-with-14-million-on-staff-2
  21. It may have escaped your notice, but he does not control Immigration who are the people who allow or reject entry to Thailand. He also does not control the government (more's the pity) who make the rules and requirements, allowing or not allowing, the people of whatever country who wish to visit Thailand. Are you turning a blind eye to Thailand's civil and human rights abuses? His job is to do the best that he can for Bangkok. Whether he likes or agrees with it or not doesn't matter.
  22. From the link given. quote "Trump continued: "REMEDY: Declare the rightful winner or, and this would be the minimal solution, declare the 2020 Election irreparably compromised and have a new Election, immediately!" Dear Mr ex-president Trump. It may have escaped your notice but the rightful winner WAS Declared on January 6 2021. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2020_United_States_presidential_election#:~:text=Biden ultimately received the majority,votes%2C while Trump received 232. It was, and still is President Joe Biden who beat you in the electoral college vote by a majority in the Electoral College with 306 electoral votes, while Trump received 232. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2020_United_States_presidential_election Popular vote 81,268,924[3] 74,216,154[3] Biden Trump Percentage 51.3% 46.9% Now even the simplest of posters on ASEAN Now can add and subtract even using the calculators on their pc, mobile or tablet. Using these figures which are freely available on the internet along with non MSM sites it is reasonable to assume that Trump LOST. I feel sad for those people including those on this site who cannot accept those figures. If the US and the majority of the world (including Thailand), even Russia and China can accept this, why can Trump and his supporters NOT accept the truth? Are they so deep in denial that only ex-president Trump's words have true meaning to them?
  23. He has achieved more in the months since his election by the people of Bangkok than his government appointed predecessor ever managed to do in 6 years.
